- blogfuse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Man, excercise ALWAYS helps me re-focus when I'm especially lagging in productivity. Great article!
- garvallagh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4First they move the coffee machine to the floor above us, then they make me walk an extra 30 seconds to the printer and now this, now they want to take away my afternoon slump, evil bastards, next thing they will actually expect something productive from me..... man if i could only get out of this chair....grrrr
- fdw2006, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I am open to anything that will give me energy after lunch. However, I don't know that I would do these in my cube - people would think I was nuts. Perhaps in the bathroom stall or stairwell where people won't see me.
- geekchic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3One I was taught by a physio really helps to stretch the arm muscles and helps prevent RSI/Carpal Tunnel problems:
Arms down the side of your body - with your hands jutting out at right angles. Now push down alternately with each shoulder. You should get a tingling sensation in your fingers when you push down.
As you also do a passable impression of a Penguin - it should be a particular favourite of the Linux users ;) - Dooxs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Its good to do your stretching every morning, even stretch your face because thats where the most tention is, it will help relieve stress.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Don't use a laptop in the office or better still don't use one at all. In the long term, laptops will damage your neck joints.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1if these are good for you - which i assume they are
and everyone in your office uses a computer then
you could always just show them to your boss and have everyone do them together
(like those Japanese morning exercises...)
..itd save looking like an idiot doing it on your own
and i always post this video of deskercise in these threads

I am sure however, that like drinking 8 glasses of water a day, I don't do nearly enough stretching. Coming across articles like this really help to bring it to the conscious level.
- TechScribe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1#13. Stretch arm to the right and grab bottle of Jolt.
- mahdaeng, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...yawn...
- qbert3k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just wouldn't be a good digg article without someone mentioning goatse... *shudder*
- loveddevol, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1jus in time,
barely woke up, tried them out for the fun of it.
feel a weeee bit better after those steps - Gnarx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I grabbed my post-it notes, and a pen and was confused when i clicked the link and didn't see the 'sketches' i was supposed to do to gain energy =(
- waddle466, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Yeah right! You'll never see me do those stretches in the office.
- mogroovee, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0I love your attitude! That's why clients pay people like me $75 an hour to fix backs, necks, hips, and shoulders. I hope people continue to be sedentary and clueless. And btw it takes tons of energy to sit at a desk but only if you do it right. People pay me to teach them how to do that too. I love it!
- sensoukami, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1That Snorg Tees girl is HOT!!!!!!!! I knew the stretches already, but was worth it to see that fine young lady....
- RichCairney, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0There are stretch & yoga-at-your-desk videos at:
http://www.centre4activeliving.ca/workplace/trr/to ... - Cyan22, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2These are really handy and easy to execute! It looks like I'll be needing them - I have a loooong working day/night ahead of me :)
- schrankage, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Ok, talk me through this, as I'm not going to read the article. You're sitting at your desk and you realize you need more energy, so you decide to expend the energy you have in hopes of gaining more. So you'll be needing a task that you can perfom while sitting at your desk, to generate more energy, to continue sitting at your desk. At what point does sitting at a desk require energy? Is it much of a stretch (pun not intended) to think that moving around might wake you up? Yes, by all means, move your ass if you don't want to fall asleep. You need someone to tell you this? ***** anyone who digs this down.
