- miles01110, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39All we have to do is put the shopping cart in the microwave, not forgetting to wet it first...
- gruk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32but knowing is half the battle.
- dunezone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I say bring it on, the more germs for my immune system to fight and learn to be better.
- xync4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23haha I remember chomping the cart handle while riding in the seat as a tyke
I must have a real good immune system now! - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24You're not supposed to use them on your ass, silly.
- JasonPrini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24There are billions of germs living INSIDE your body right now!!!
OMG!
Good thing humans have immune systems. - jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Okay, researchers... you can stop now. Go find the cure to some diseases.
- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I did not want to know this.
- futureb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15"more...fecal matter than escalators"
this quote cries out for further investigation - silentarcher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14This is nothing new. High school science students discover that keyboards and door handles have more germs than the toilets. Why is everyone so afraid of germs? Obsessively cleaning and sanitizing everything will just put you at risk when you come into contact with a super germ. Let your immune system do its job.
- Aethra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Happily, places such as Publix, freely offer hand wipes for cleaning the cart handles. Just look next the ATM or by the carts.
- MrStylz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Bowling balls are really high up there, too. Sorry if you didn't want to hear that, too.
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12what, you've never done the old 'upper deck' on a shopping cart??? i thought that's what the seat was for...
- Arahka, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I think this whole germ phobia society has going on right now is what's making these kids sickly.
How many people do you know that have allergies and asthma and other health problems? it's on the rise. i think it's because everything is sanitized and bacteria free. Our immune systems don't get the practice when we're young so they end up all ***** up or just terribly weak. Let the kids role in the dirt and lick the slide the other kid pee'd on an hour ago. it's good for them, toughens them up. .. That and breastfeed if at all possible because that goes a long way to a healthier kid. Sterile enviroments are bad, mmkay. - DenTPuzz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Albertsons have the wipes too - which unfortunately make me rash. I can't win!
- vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I would even argue that you can put your hands in your mouth all day, and probably won't get sick.
- vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@captaineuphoria
Not exactly. Your immune system is much like a person (for this analogy). If you sit on your ass on the couch all day, you are fat and slow. When an emergency comes up and you need to run somewhere, you don't make it very far.
When you go out and run all the time and the real big emergency comes up, you can run and run and run and run like Forest Gump.
Practice killing germs please, don't let your immune system get fat. - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8i'll get right on that...right after i finish my personal, portable, collapsible, toilet
- mrsark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7good i should goto the grocery store. everyone thinks germs are so bad.. more often then not they are good for you, because in small quantities your body can learn how to defeat them and they actually boost your immune system. nothing on the planet is meant to be as clean as most people are in western societies.
- ChillHomie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7If they can make dough, why are they going to the grocery store in the first place?
- therealrico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5EVERYTHING HAS GERMS, we has humans learn to adapt and become immune to these germs, this ***** gets on my nerves.
- MikeFromAmerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Exactly! That's what wrong with the U.S.--Not enough regulations.
- vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You seem to think that your sweat and your pee is better than a million other people's sweat and pee... It's interesting that you think that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7O_o
- cl0r0x70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"....and to think, parents having their young ones sitting on these carts!"
Ummm. . . where did you think the germs came from.
Babies are little germ factories, wallowing around in their own waste, crawling on the floor, putting everything in their mouths, etc.
If they weren't so cute, we'd invent a spray to get rid of them. - r0ck3tm4nn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yup. Neat microbiology fact: based strictly by numbers, of all the cells in your body, there's more stuff thats NOT you, than that IS you.
- GeneralAntilles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Publix's generic stuff is among the best. Every other grocery store in Florida is a hell-hole. Thank god for Publix.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4YOU didnt want to know that? My job is a cart pusher! How do you think I feel?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@vawaskle
How about this headline "Large intestine filled with fecal matter", or "Colon contains more ***** than an escalator" - KentDiego, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4*EVERYTHING* has more germs than public restrooms. Restrooms are regularly cleaned with chlorine disinfectants. Lots of washing is always going on. How often do you think a shopping cart or anything else is regularly disinfected?
- cracker42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Aren't there health codes requiring that restrooms be cleaned? Shouldn't those be expanded to require the cleaning of shopping cart handles?
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Breaking news: Bums' asses more germy than shopping-cart handles
Government studies free-wipe program - ChillHomie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"& isn't a dog's mouth cleaner than ours?
if you're that worried about germs just live in a bubble"
I doubt it, considering they lick their nuts. Oh wait, you are one of those people that believes everything you see! Yes, dogs mouths are cleaner than humans, and you owe me about $7000 - gruk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3which is why we have one of these http://www.amazon.com/Carry-Floppy-Seat-Shopping-Cover/dp/B00009VE5J
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I don't know about you guys, but I think it's hilarious to watch my loaf get squeezed through the teeth on the escalator tracks.
/WTF!!! - futureb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@diggslt
you've been reading those magazines on the airplane again, haven't you - ericmcgovern, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Woopeee ***** do...what are the "researchers" going to come up with next? That your ***** is actually INSIDE you before you take that giant dump, and its just totally full of "germs"
Captian Obvious called, he wants his cape back. - vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is true... Where is the digg headline that reads, "Inside of human body has more germs than all the shopping cart handles in the world put together".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Publix is a great grocery store. It's little touches like that which definitely makes it worth the extra money. They sell some great quality food items as well.
- toast1226, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5....and to think, parents having their young ones sitting on these carts!
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so what? there are germs everywhere! people are always freaked about germs and stuff "eww" they say. I have been living what most would consider a less (much less) than careful life style when it comes to germs for more than 16 years, and I have yet to observe any negative effects, only positive.
- socalrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just noticed the other day when I went shopping that my local supermarket offers free disinfectant wipes right next to the shopping cart with a sign that urges people to use the wipes on the handles before using the shopping cart. I thought that was pretty cool and thoughtful of them to do.
- pyr0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I go to King Soopers where I live. They always have a sanitary wipe container next to the shopping carts, but 3 out of 4 times it is completely empty. They don't seem to care that much...
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why don't they just hand out latex gloves? Instantly effective, and as a bonus your hands don't get sticky from the Mrs. T's margarita mix bottle.
- finista, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Germs? Bring it On!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no, i just would rather touch other peoples' sweat than pee, hence i think shopping carts are less gross than urinals to touch.
- joshua5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is old news people. Bathrooms are relatively clean compared to most things you encounter on a day to day basis. Door knobs for example. You don't want to know about whats crawling on your keyboard & mouse especially the ones in public computer labs. -No one- washes their hands after using those!
- the2989, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1The cure to some diseases is to simply not get them at all, so they're doing their jobs right.
- neutrascrub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a store chain in Wisconsin called Festival and in Green Bay they have the first cart sanitizer, it runs every cart through a vinegar solution(at least it smells like it) and keeps them nice an clean for the customer. (i worked there for a while)
- PABeachBum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3People who claim that not washing your hands "boosts your immune system" are just clueless.
Guess what! You can be the healthiest person on the block, in tip top shape, and easily get knocked out of commission by a stomach flu for a week. I don't know of anybody who is currently immune to the norovirus. Nor the flu. Sorry, but there are many many types of bacteria and viruses that our bodies cannot defend ourselves from, even after thousands of years.
And it's only getting worse, with things such as MRSA floating out there. Don't want to wipe down that mat at the gym? No problem, just have your whole leg eaten away by fun little bacteria.
So before you spread your ignorance about how it's ok to take a crap and then walk right out of the bathroom, do some ***** research first. Otherwise you come off sounding like an ignorant ( and dirty ) *****. -
