- Snoosy, on 01/26/2009, -1/+177Aren't there hundreds of other studies proving the complete opposite of this article?
- dlan4327, on 01/26/2009, -2/+71Well I guess I won't be getting Prostate Cancer. I never thought I'd be so depressed about that.
- andarnold, on 01/26/2009, -1/+61So, the cure for prostate cancer.. is no sex..?
Brb, hanging myself. - ZeroDarkness, on 01/26/2009, -0/+58Wasn't there an article from another reputable site several months ago that said more frequent ejaculation, through sex or masturbation, was GOOD for your prostate?
- r0ji, on 01/26/2009, -1/+50Nah.

I can feel my cancer coming.
It hurts. - doiveo, on 01/26/2009, -1/+32"BRB.. hanging myself"
Not looking to succeed I guess. - DeadPlasmaCell, on 01/26/2009, -0/+29Wasn't there a study that stated that masturbating was supposed to reduce your risk of prostate cancer?? My wife... she must never know of this new information.
- JustinNoland, on 01/26/2009, -0/+24I call shenanigans. Every other major study argues the contrary, that frequent ejaculation, either through masturbation or sex, reduces prostate cancer risks.

SCIENCE DAMN IT!!!! - OptionalPirate, on 01/26/2009, -1/+23So those findings stating that sex and masturbation actually REDUCE the risk are false?
- mrgeekguy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+21Worth it. Totally worth it.

- metroidragon, on 01/26/2009, -0/+16This article contradicts one that was posted mid last year:
http://digg.com/health/Masturbation_cuts_cancer_ri ... - malex, on 01/26/2009, -0/+14That's quite a thumbnail image.
- agentsrecord, on 01/26/2009, -0/+14What?
Bad science. This study is a bunch of *****. Don't believe everything some lame ass study supposedly 'finds'. Healthy sexual habits are the best known way to fight prostate cancer. - ImpaledNoob, on 01/26/2009, -0/+12http://surreality.info/up/must_not_fap.jpg
- doiveo, on 01/26/2009, -1/+13I'm screwed. No turning back now, may as well keep up the good life.
- scoot2006, on 01/26/2009, -0/+11It's like a lot of other research. Certain foods are good for you or will give you cancer depending on the research done that year. I wouldn't worry about it much.
- IndyDoug, on 01/26/2009, -0/+11Does masturbation count as sex?
- scottinks, on 01/26/2009, -2/+12OMG....being 37 now I think I'm screwed
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -1/+11I personally find all of these "surveys" and "studies" *****. It seems that EVERYTHING gives you cancer now, everything. How often you blink, when you take a piss; whether or not you covered your nose when you sneeze. Most of these scientist's careers are about getting their name into a medical journal and "proving" their theories and "findings". The problem with western medicine is as Americans we're under this assumption that those in white coats are so much smarter and more knowledgeable than we are, and they can cure and treat almost anything - that life is in their hands. I find it so funny that people don't follow the simple steps in life which common sense dictates living a good life. Eating well, drinking water, exercising, not drinking doing drugs or smoking. Now I'm not saying that there isn't any truth to this, I'm sure there is... but it always seems like there is some new finding every day about what causes certain illnesses. I swear man, there must be 3454 things that they've found which specifically relate to cancer. Makes me feel like I should live in a ***** bubble.
- teethandeyes, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9800 men being quizzed is NOT a conclusive study.
Men tend to lie about sex and overestimate how much sex they have had.
This is counterintuitve to what it seems like would happen.
A highly sexed male would have a more active, and consequently healthier prostate it would seem.
I am not going to worry. - sockpuppets, on 01/26/2009, -1/+10Maybe he's Buddhist.
- J0hnnyBlaze, on 01/26/2009, -0/+8or maybe he thats how he likes to beat it.
- TrendyTim, on 01/26/2009, -2/+10Dont worry, in 6 months this will be refuted, and 6months after that the refutation will be refuted and so the cycle goes.
- Wigmeister, on 01/26/2009, -2/+10I guess we're all getting prostate cancer
- Budgraphix, on 01/26/2009, -0/+7Damn that's what I heard as well. Now I'll have hairy palms AND prostate cancer :(
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6What! What a cruel joke.
- inigomntoya, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6Best I could find (from the same source as this article - although 6 years old)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3072021.stm - twiztidsinz, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6It's 2009 people!
Increase is the new decrease. - inigomntoya, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6I had heard that as well. I am trying to hunt down a source from the Journal of the American Medical Association, but haven't found it yet...
- TheTaoOfBill, on 01/26/2009, -1/+7Every man has nearly a 100% chance of getting prostate cancer assuming they out live every other potentially fatal "old age" disease. Some get it earlier than others. But assuming you live through everything else you WILL get prostate cancer.
Of course some things like your diet, actions and family history might speed up or slow down the process. But the basic thing to remember is that every man who lives long enough will get it eventually.
You should worry less about what increases your risk and more about getting regular checkups for it. Because the only real way to prevent it is to find it in it's early stages. - inactive, on 01/26/2009, -1/+7who the ***** chose that image for the article??!

- Rufunki, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6Is California going to require cancer warnings on porn websites now?
- penmissile, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5
How does the BBC explain this?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3072021.stm - ZenMojo, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Just grab the tip and think of baseball. That should slow it down.
- Adelie, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Exactly! Personally, Take a look at Pope John Paul compared to Hugh Hefner; who is looking more healthy these days. Not to mention that despite the small correlation, this was not a scientific study in any way, but a retrospective of a survey. It also only looks at prostate cancer, and as the GP points out, more sex has shown many times over in real studies to improve general health, mental well-being, and longer life spans.
- addiktion, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5He is either masturbating furiously or he has a lady pinned to his weinie
- inigomntoya, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6Just cuz no one sees you do it, doesn't mean you aren't affected...
- LargeTrout, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5I remember this study too. It was on Digg about a year ago, maybe less. This is why I don't really believe scientists' studies anymore. Give it a year and they'll contradict themselves.
- Llanowar, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4We're scientists, let's ask a random question and perform a worthless research to then post the results as breakthrough facts.
Well, that''s how I guess it most often goes. - WhammX, on 01/26/2009, -1/+5Im skeptical about this article.
The article states it was retrospective and asked men about their past sexual history. Aside from the possible fibs in any regard, taking Statistics the validity of the research and random men they signed on for the experiment I'm speculative about this itself.
MAINLY:
I remember hearing that your wang is like any other muscle on your body. If you don't utilize it'll end up like any other muscle you don't use, weak. The slow over weight guy that doesn't exercise at all compared to the conscious individual who heads to the gym to work out their body.
As for Prostate Cancer itself, i'm befuddled but this one article is not gonna shift my thinking regarding the way the testing was conceived. - Daxx22, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4Digg is a cure for cancer!
- tgc1, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4Correlation ≠ Causation.
- FJRRulz, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4So, you're ***** if you're *****, but if you're not ***** you're not as ***** as you would be if you were *****?
