- CoreyTamas, on 01/10/2009, -1/+95Sex is great. When you meet someone and you want to have sex with them, and you do... that's not a problem because that's not an addiction. Then let's say you spend a weekend with that person in bed and you have sex with them 5 or 6 times a day. Or more. That's not a problem because that's not that's not an addiction. Then let's say you both even call in sick for work on Monday so that you can stay in bed and have more sex. That's not a problem because that's not that's not an addiction.
Then the next day she has to go to work and you call in to work sick again without telling her so you can stay home and watch porn and masturbate 8, 9 or 10 times. And then you spend money you can't spare on phone sex or escorts instead of going into work. Fast forward a few weeks: She doesn't like having sex with you too much anymore because after a while she realizes you don't shower and you don't eat and you don't leave the house. And she finds out you ***** call girls when she's not around. And you can't keep any of your girlfriends because they can't take your behavior, either. And then you lose your job because you keep missing work because you're either at home watching porn or too tired from being up all night watching porn. And then the tiny bit of cash you have to spend on rent or bills, you spend on porn or hookers even though you know you're going to lose your electricity, water or your rent. And you don't know how to stop yourself. That, my friends, is a problem... because that's an addiction... and people actually do this.
It's not sexy. It's not hot. It's just a sickness and it makes something that would normally be really cool into something destructive. It's not a joke and it's not just part of "being a guy with a high libido". This is something else. - Tyrghast, on 01/10/2009, -5/+67Addiction has such a negative connotation... why not 'Sex Enthusiast'?
- replaysMike, on 01/09/2009, -5/+66I find sex addiction to be about the same as drug addiction - it's hard to be addicted if you can't afford it.
- user500, on 01/09/2009, -0/+53ok, that's just weird

*ouch*
Addiction is continuing to do something despite negative consequences. - Kosh, on 01/10/2009, -5/+49Hmm...let me ask you this. Do you think it is unreasonable if instead of 3 meals a day someone wanted 10? I don't think an unrestricted appetite for anything is ever a good idea. "Everything in moderation", the Greeks said.
- MeatPlow, on 01/10/2009, -2/+44I almost had sex with another person once.
- uptown, on 01/10/2009, -0/+38go ***** yourself....
- JanusTheDoorman, on 01/10/2009, -3/+36Honestly, sometimes I do wish Digg could be a bit more mature about these things. There hasn't been a major story in years that hasn't broken on the web, and gotten a huge audience on and through Digg, hours or days before it hits papers or TV; but it's the series of comments we're going to see here that keeps it from being considered "legitimate".
Then, I relax and laugh along with everyone else. - dronesixtyten, on 01/10/2009, -3/+36I made this for you.
http://burningrobot.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/41 ... - chuckDontSurf, on 01/10/2009, -0/+27It's not about high libido; it's about compulsion. When it becomes compulsive it's never a good or healthy thing.
- dronesixtyten, on 01/10/2009, -0/+26The thing about addiction is it interferes with daily life. Whether it's sex or drugs or whatever, it disrupts your routine and ruins relationships. The couple from the article, their relationship was destroyed because of his addiction. It's not like he was simply having an affair, he had to compulsively go after sex all the time.
- JanusTheDoorman, on 01/10/2009, -8/+33Dude... WTF?
- polarbobbear, on 01/10/2009, -1/+25"The mind is willing but the flesh is sore and bruised."
- z00k, on 01/10/2009, -3/+27... Sex?
- sockpuppets, on 01/10/2009, -0/+23You'd get bored and cheat on yourself eventually.
- kds405, on 01/10/2009, -1/+24An addiction to anything is plausible.
- BitKid, on 01/10/2009, -0/+23This is what non-addicts don't understand about addicts. When you are addicted to something, be it drugs, alcohol, gambling, or sex, the act and the thought of the activity causes the addict's life to spiral out of control. It seemingly consumes every waking thought, and eventually the addict will be spending every moment trying to do whatever it is they are addicted to. The addict senses that there is a problem, which is why they start lying and trying to cover up their addiction. Being out of control, the addict will do things they never would do normally, like rob a store to fund their drug habit, or sleep with a dozen skeezy hookers to get sex.
Its hard to understand the mindset of addiction without experiencing it yourself. - Llanowar, on 01/10/2009, -1/+234 times isn't that bad.
Wanting it all day long, every day, is
There are people out there for who sex is just as much needed as heroine is to a heroine addict.
They'll go crazy, don't get any sleep, go insanely angry and basically just ***** up their life if they don't get their daily/hourly sex. - mastazed, on 01/10/2009, -11/+31said the 41yr old virgin
- drhex31, on 01/09/2009, -42/+61sex addiction is such a pile of steaming horse manure. either you have a high libido or you don't.
what is wrong with wanting sex 2, 3 or even 4 times.................a day. i think that is completely normal, for me that is. but for someone who has no interest in sex it sounds crazy. explain to me why wanting to dance the horizontal mambo a few time a day bad thing, it is good exercise good for the cardiovascular system and it is one of the few things that still does not cause cancer. - CoreyTamas, on 01/10/2009, -0/+18Yes.
Meth addict.
Sex addict.
See the connection? - ConfusedCartman, on 01/10/2009, -1/+19But then you woke up?
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -16/+34it would be cool if i had a penis and a vagina so i can have sex 24/7
- oneoverzero, on 01/10/2009, -0/+17Death... BY SNU-SNU
- uptown, on 01/10/2009, -2/+19tonsils.... can you be addicted to tonsils?
- Tiak, on 01/10/2009, -0/+16Actually, that's still not a sex addition, that's hypersexuality (formerly called, and popularly known as "nymphomania" in women). Having a high labido doesn't make you a sex addict any more than really loving the taste of a given brand of alcohol makes you an alcoholic.
- LawScholar, on 06/25/2009, -0/+16When the main article has boobies getting groped, you can only hope for so much maturity.
Of course, given my user name I should hardly be involved in discussions about maturity. - sadsadrobot, on 01/10/2009, -1/+17No, then they just steal things.
- oboshoe, on 01/10/2009, -2/+17"keep missing work because you're either at home watching porn or too tired from being up all night watching porn."
pfffh.
Truly dedicated sex addicts watch their porn at work. - IntoxicatedLuke, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15Wow you guys are pretty mean.
LOL - dronesixtyten, on 01/10/2009, -0/+14Porn addiction falls into sex addiction, to an extent.
- Sonixunite, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15Sex ten times a day doesn't make you fat.
- Tonicks, on 01/10/2009, -1/+14Your ideas intrigue me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

- UNL1M1T3D, on 01/10/2009, -1/+12Hi Megan, my name is Joe and I'd like to give you a hand with your problem.
- BitKid, on 01/10/2009, -1/+11Yup, they just start stealing *****. That's what happened to my buddy and I when all of our free Oxycontin ran out. We just started stealing ***** from electronic stores and reselling it to buy heroin. Eventually we got popped and went to jail. At the time it seems like a completely reasonable thing to do...anything you gotta do to get the fix becomes totally reasonable.
- RadInfinitum, on 01/10/2009, -0/+10But the *he* woke up.
- Wargala, on 01/10/2009, -9/+19When it's a guy, it's an excuse. When it's a girl, it's an addiction that must be fueled. :)
- draculthemad, on 01/10/2009, -0/+10Addictive personalities can get addicted to anything. I dont think its such a stretch that something as pleasant as sex would be included. Especially since it has such a large brain chemistry component.
S I can see psychological addiction easily. I dont think I've ever heard of anything that would go so far as 'chemical' addiction. That is usually associated with foreign chemicals actually replacing components of the bodies biochemistry usually synthesized internally, isn't it? - MeatPlow, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10I'm addicted to dihydrogen monoxide....I just can't get through a day without it.
- vilago, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9yea maybe but can you bend your erect penis so that it goes in that vageen? that would be something then.
- Kosh, on 01/10/2009, -1/+9Now that you say it, that does sound much better...
- Kronos6948, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8I don't know why you're being dugg down...
oh yeah...the PC's didn't like your comment, either. - UNL1M1T3D, on 01/10/2009, -1/+9You saw that porn too?
- Zero51, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8You obviously have no idea how destructive it can be.
- PaulOwen, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7The author should read Chuck Palahniuk's "Choke" before forming an opinion on whether its real.
After reading it, I'm convinced that sex addiction is completely real, in exactly the same way as migraines, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorders are real. If sex addicts don't get their fix, they really do have physical symptoms.
You might think you're a sex addict because you like sex, but unless you've put yourself into a dangerous or socially perilous situation to pursue sex, you're just randy, not a sex addict.
A good yardstick (excuse the erm ... anyway) is if you sit in aeroplane toilets, with your john out, door unlocked on the offchance that someone will get busy with you rather than close the door and go back to their seat. If that is you, chances are you're a sex addict, not just a randy guy looking to pork a stewardess. - samryan, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7"...including moderation," as Horace Porter said.
