People who don't use condoms are more unconcerned with other aspects of their lives too so of course they're less likely to get depressed. They don't worry about anything, what's there to be depressed about? They just go on with their lives letting whatever happen happen.

    People who have sex with condoms are more likely to be having non-committal sex, while those going bareback are more likely to be in a committed relationship. Those reasons alone would account for the difference in mood.

I agree with Rationaleubrance as to what the real take away from this study is. I think women who have fulfilling sex lives are going to be happier, regardless of what they use when they have it.

    I worry statements like this will discourage condom use among college and high school students, though. There the risk of an STD is greater, and the consequences of unplanned pregnancy are more difficult to deal with. Also, people in that age group are typically less sexually experienced than people in their 20's and upwards, and (especially in high school) are more prone to sexual pressure. An insecure 17 year old girl may not be happy at all if her boyfriend tells her she'll be happier if they don't use a condom, and then she gets AIDS or pregnant.
