- aramis19, on 11/30/2008, -1/+39Perhaps scientists will develop some kind of "T-virus" that will help people fight cancer and infections. That could only end well, right?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+19Yes, but now they need to hire Mr.T for a commercial, saying, "I pity the fool who has cancer."
- worseforwine, on 11/30/2008, -2/+20I actually heard they are testing that over in Racoon City
- LaughingMan89, on 12/01/2008, -5/+19Hey digg, remember the last time you cured cancer?
- antc1986, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Actually, research using viral vectors to deliver therapeutic genes and factors is very real and very promising. Look up adeno-associated virus or lentivirus sometime, two popular viral vectors in the field.
- Depthfunction, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I'm sure that treatments based on this research are just five years away.
- RSMiller, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Braaaaaiiiinnnnssss
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I have yet to see an article posted here actually claim it found a cure. Because they don't, they talk about research breakthroughs. But I guess feeble minded people don't see it that way. Its a pitty, because in reality this is wonderful news. All these articles are wonderful news, it shows research is getting somewhere and eventually we will know enough about fighting cancer to stop it from being such a fatal disease. I too fail to see why there is negativity towards information like this. Perhaps those people haven't had someone close to them die of cancer, and see how horrible it is to go through that. I would not wish any type of cancer on my worst enemy. To die young and painfully is not a good way to go.
- Yondelldude, on 12/01/2008, -3/+8Digg: Curing cancer and AIDS every week since 2004.
- BigManOnCampus, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Cancer will eventually have very effective treatments that can kill off tumors. I doubt there will be a one-pill cure that prevents cancer from ever existing in the human population.
- jynweythek, on 12/01/2008, -3/+7oh wow another miracle cancer breakthrough. third one this week!
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Here's to hoping the young adult you'll soon grow into has a bit more humanity than that.
- coyote1284, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3/b IS the cancer...
- MazdaEric, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3YIKES - let me guess, you voted McCain?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Well, there's our culture of instant gratification at work - a major medical breakthrough is made, and what do people do? Bitch about how cancer hasn't been cured already. Get over it - we're not going to wake up tomorrow and discover that cancer has suddenly been cured.
- FredFredrickson, on 12/01/2008, -1/+4Why do people always say that Digg cured cancer? There's no harm in discussing breakthroughs in modern medicine that may lead, someday, to a cure to cancer... what's the point of being so hostile towards it?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3"what's the point of being so hostile towards it?"
Cynicism is an emotional defense mechanism, developed as scar tissue from past hurts & disappointments. Every time there's an "exciting breakthrough" in cancer research, it seems to fade into obscurity from the layman's point of view, with no apparent decrease in the suffering caused by this disease. Perhaps what we need is some positive followup stories on the fruits of emerging technologies, rather than just pie in the sky speculation on where they "might" lead. - Oatlord, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3You're too smart for this place. Make more funny jokes about zombies and *****.
- hasslinthehoff, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2I always thought immunotherapy was the best avenue to fighting disease, so hopefully this will be one small step towards finally kicking cancer in the ass.
- Nosferotu, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2That is what he'd say, too. He has such a big heart, full of pity, that Mr. T
- razrielle, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2first comment man, your way off
- rsh28630, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2Here's an insight to perhaps reduce a desire to be flippant about illness. People diagnosed with a life threatening disease can't be certain of getting the most up-to-date care from physicians because not all doctors are Digg readers. In fact, more than a few physicians are barely able to access email. You may find articles that feature potential advances in health care to be boring or redundant. No problem. That's your right. My request is you also grasp that the same information you disparage so casually might empower someone to save the life of a loved one.
- FI5HERMAN, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2Well this must give so much more hope to those sufferers & sometimes that is all they need to stop them from giving up , in the meantime lets cross our fingers they have cracked the ever elusive code of cancer!!!!!!
- soulpiercer7, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2hey if worse comes to worse we can always nuke the city we test it at to kill off the zombies. It worked in Raccoon City
- Garofoli, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1T Virus?
- Oatlord, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Wait a minute. Digg had me believing that all I had to do to cure cancer was to keep smoking my pot. Or maybe that was something else. I can't remember.
- Zdzicho, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1That was already found by Wake Forest University scientists, they breed Cancer-Restant mouse:

Now checking if the same case is for humans:

/Z - growler1, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Shut up all that jibba-jabba.
- Oatlord, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Actually the T-virus is Resident Evil and the curing of cancer is the Will Smith movie / book. I think.
- prodigitalson, on 12/01/2008, -3/+4Do you really want your fate in the hands of Will Smith?
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1So are we going to save the precious lives which die from Cancer?
- AbsurdWreckage, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Wrong movie.
- mwalker05, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1but not to help with aids?
- jcraig949, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1You're obviously new to digg
- CarStan, on 12/01/2008, -1/+2want to drink some of my Mr.T -"tea"?
- reyoo30309, on 12/01/2008, -1/+1Finally! A cure for the T-virus.
- RadiatedAnt, on 12/01/2008, -1/+1D'oh!
- Clad, on 12/01/2008, -4/+3Hm.. Yup, must be a Monday. A new cure for cancer was found.
- crgnetworks, on 12/01/2008, -2/+1This will never make it out of testing, unfortunately.
- badloginname, on 12/01/2008, -1/+0maybe this will at least help / b / not to die of the cancer.
- RSMiller, on 12/01/2008, -5/+4Sweet, time to start smoking again.
- RadiatedAnt, on 12/01/2008, -2/+1No umbrella reference yet? you nerds dissapoint me.
- BigglesPiP, on 12/01/2008, -2/+1Like I keep saying, cancer is being cured every day lately, much longer and there'll be a cure for every type under every circumstance.
- badloginname, on 12/01/2008, -2/+0no u
- coadyj, on 12/01/2008, -2/+0digg, curing cancer everyday!
- Vincent21212, on 12/01/2008, -5/+1Ah, Physorg. You said you'd cure my AIDS last year, and that never happened. You're a tabloid piece of *****, Physorg
- BaileyHankins, on 12/01/2008, -7/+0Why are they trying to cure AIDS? I can understand curing cancer, but aren't we better off without most of the people who have AIDS?
