- maragarine, on 12/03/2008, -0/+97so the salted cigarettes I'm trying to sell are destined for failure?
- d2002, on 12/03/2008, -4/+87But salt on bacon doesn't count right?
- JigoroKano, on 12/03/2008, -3/+53"Consuming too much salt, or sodium, can lead to serious health problems including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, osteoporosis and stomach cancer. There is also some evidence that it adds to the severity of asthma symptoms."
Salt causes water retention, which is bad for people with high blood pressure. But, to my knowledge, there is zero evidence that salt causes any of these ailments.
Diets high in salt are correlated to these things because junk food is full of salt and fresh food isn't. But there is no known mechanism for the salt to cause any of it. Too many "nutritionists" don't understand the distinction. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+41Salt 'as bad as cigarettes'
but Cigarettes as good as salt ? - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+32Deep fry them as well, and you've got a winner.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+30No, it's actually good for high blood pressure. Brings it up like a champ.
- DJShadow, on 12/03/2008, -1/+30Title is a little mis leading. It should say "Reducing salt consumption 'as important as' reducing tobacco consumption"
- lovemorgul, on 12/03/2008, -2/+29It's a matter of taste. I have a freind that grows different types of pot.
- Grazfather, on 12/03/2008, -2/+25Cigarettes make you smell bad and make your teeth yellow, and are expensive.
Salt is cheap and makes everything taste good.
I'll stick with salt. - chooter, on 12/03/2008, -0/+21I quit smoking, I've mostly quit drinking, but you will pry the saltshaker from MY COLD DEAD FINGERS!!!
- Trekhawk, on 12/03/2008, -0/+19Genocide + Bacon = Win?
- DJShadow, on 12/03/2008, -0/+17Unrelated, but upped for drug use.
- LogicBomB, on 12/03/2008, -0/+16I find your ideas fascinating, and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
- cgm1985, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14then smoke it
- telfy, on 12/03/2008, -2/+15Baked beans have too much salt, and they make you faaarrrrttttt, bugger!!
- MikeFallopian, on 12/03/2008, -1/+14Maybe marinating my cigs in soy sauce wasn't the best idea after all.
- DirectTulip, on 12/03/2008, -2/+15anything in connection wiht bacon is good ;)
- TheUngod, on 12/03/2008, -0/+13There was nothing wrong with that food. The salt level was 10% less than a lethal dose.
- roadtripper, on 12/03/2008, -0/+13It's a lot harder to keep lit, though.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+13In summary: correlation does not imply causation.
:) - P1um, on 12/03/2008, -1/+13Here's the line.

you crossed it - geekoid, on 12/03/2008, -0/+11So, either smoke or eat pies... damn. Can't do anything right these days.
- piranhaa, on 12/03/2008, -1/+11In math you learn double negatives = positive.
Salt (-) * Cigarettes (-) = (+) ! I think you just cured cancer!!! - eastwood24, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10Only if you then dip that salted bacon in melted butter.
- aimhelix, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10Dugg for open-mindedness.
- mortalwind, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10It's the Vegemite that ***** is pur MSG! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegemite
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10Pepper is feeling left out! Racist bastards
- dulymachine, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10I shouldn't have had seconds!
- DivisibleByZero, on 12/03/2008, -1/+10Secondhand salt isn't going to kill everybody around me.
- SpinningHead, on 12/03/2008, -1/+10There is no scientific evidence that msg actually causes problems. Its a derivative of seaweed.
- asgardshill, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9Guilty as charged. I even salt ice cream.
- pezangel, on 12/03/2008, -1/+10The salt is bad for high blood pressure
- LogicBomB, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9Let me ask you a question: Did salt and Cigarettes fail?
If anything, you are dangerously unprepared for the onslaught of sale. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8Depends if the "salt" is really salt. There is another substance, which looks similar, that would sell like hotcakes if put into a cigarette. Just sayin'
- o0joshua0o, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8"It contains glutamic acid, an amino acid found in yeast extract, that is related to monosodium glutamate. "
That's not the same as containing MSG. - roddack, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7I don't think it would be possible for you to have too much Valium at this point, because damn you need to take one.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -2/+9This just in, too much of anything is bad for you- cigarettes, salt, US Weekly...
I love these studies, like we haven't known for the past 50 years that an excess of sodium in the diet will have deleterious effects. As far as salt being as bad as cigarettes, my grandmother smoked for 40 years had to quit because she was on the verge of emphysema (also her best friend died of lung cancer)- my grandfather ate red meat everyday and salted everything except his water and he died of a massive heart attack- both poor health choices, but my grandfather always said- "If you like it let hurt you, if you love it let it kill you." - Grazfather, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8Probably not.
- megamod, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7BRAZIL IS SCREWED!!!
We use so much freaking salt on our meat. If there is ever a shortage of salt in the ocean and fish start dying it's because we used all the rock/sea salt on our meat =). - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8Moving out of your mom's basement might help avoiding that whole mess. Zinngggg!
- Antz0rz, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7Damn, I just started smoking salt too.
- lpmiller, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7Time to sprinkle some Winstons on my burger
- minoss, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8Too much of anything is bad for you. This isn't a tough concept to grasp.
- RevLoki, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6No no, if I were to go without nicotine OTHER people would die. Not the other way around.
- olias123, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6Dang. (begins to wrap cig in bacon)
- aladrin, on 12/03/2008, -2/+8Try going without nicotine.
Now try going without salt.
One of the 2 above will kill you. - atomic08, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6No, salt is an essential mineral that we just get too much of in packaged foods. Cut out the packaged foods and watch your sodium consumption go down faster than my ex girlfriend. I have a friend who needs extra salt because of low blood pressure. It's like water, drinking too much at a time will kill you because it throws off the balance of salt and electrolytes in your body. Drinking too little will obviously kill you as well.
- roddack, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6so no salt consumption would be as good as no tobacco consumption? :P
- ingoldsby, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6Only if you want to die from your electrolyte imbalance...
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6That is ***** awesome!
