Yep, pretty misleading... - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12kevin rose mislead all the diggers about how the new commenting system was going to be better. BREAKING NEWS!!!!
- Resiroth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Look, this isn't about whether the president blew the crap out of the world trade centers or not. This is about the government misleading the public about air quality after 9-11.
- conna, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9The towers had asbestos insulation, it was applied to the drywall and used extensively on the first 40 floors. It was going to cost billions removing it and replacing it. To even think that the dust you saw chasing people down the streets was "OK" to breathe you had to be a fool. Just another slap in the face by the crooks and lairs running the government.
Oh ya, in case any of this is news to you, it was reported way back in 2002.
http://society.guardian.co.uk/societyguardian/story/0,7843,727315,00.html - DragonGirl724, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Xeth: Residents and commuters to downtown manhattan were told it was okay to report back to their homes and workplaces too soon. I lived a few blocks away from the buildings and the air reaked for months (more than the usually NYC stank). Some residents were given the order that it was safe to return back to their homes immediately, we're talking same day/next day. Police blocked off Downtown Manhattan at Canal Street and anyone that lived below that had to show proof they lived there in order to pass. Unfortunately too many people, including my own family, suffered drastically from that crucial decision. It wasn't safe like they said it to be.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+15Dear Truthers,
You're not privy to secret knowledge. You're not smart to buy into conspiracy theories - you're retarded. People are profiting off your stupidity. You're not challenging the status quo, you're not questioning the government, you're just jerking yourselves off. Conspiracy theories have been around since the dawn of time. The only thing more pitiful than your pathetic critical thinking skills is the fact that you are stupid enough to be smug about it. Please go get a productive hobby and stop boring all your friends and anonymous internet people with 9/11 conspiracy ***** all the time.
Sincerely,
Rational people. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@rulezgetbent:
"Some people thought Hitler was doing the right thing. What do you think?"
It's ironic you should say that, since Hitler blamed the Jews for the Reichstag fire, and the idiots of the day ate it up. Much like the idiots of today eat up pissweak conspiracy theories about 9/11.
You talk about freedom - give me a ***** break. You're just trying to get attention. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Because old habits die hard.
- edzilla, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Thing is, many americans think they are invulnerable, therefore "it's not possible that middle eastern stone age terrorists could organize something like that here". the only possibility to fit that theory, then, was treason,...

And who the ***** is Ken, anyway? - JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4And at least I make no bones about it that I know I'm more intelligent than you ;-)
And for the most part, my rants are actually quite intelligent and insightful. Unlike you, I look at past and future trends to come to my conclusions, instead of blindly following what some guy who lives in his mother's basement tells me to believe. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Ohhh, the STRAUSSIANS! How sinister. You may as well replace it with "aliens", it sounds that kooky.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6"The few hold-out idiots that still blame the brown Muslims"
Why is it that 9/11 truthers always have to put this air of superiority into their rants?
You're intellectually soft to believe in that crap. - MrFlesh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Actually I think hitler blamed the polish for the reicthstag fire that was thier reason to invade.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Or the rescue workers could have simply been provided the proper respirators and such to keep from getting ill. It isn't rocket science. People clean up hazardous waste all the time. It would have only marginally slowed things down and cost a bit more up front. In the end people wouldn't be getting sick and dying.
- michaelb1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thank you GAO (Govt Agency of the Obvious)
The whole city was engulfed in pulverized concrete, ash, and asbestos. Not to mention atomized human remains. - MrFlesh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No no no the "Rational People" Know the government did not mislead anyone. All the "rational people" know everything was done that could be done. The "rational people" know New Yorkers were cared about....like katrina victims.
- Avataren, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AA191-responders.png thats not a hole JHB800, your head is...
- fuzzybutton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It was only a few days later that alternative news said the first eighty floors had asbestos in them so many new then it would be a problem.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You're blocked, along with lazerblazer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Prove it. Do I just take your word for it?
- rulezgetbent, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4How about: DISPROVE IT. Like when they told us the Boeing that was taken down (whether by passengers or gunned down) vaporized as it hit the ground (dirt on top of that, not even concrete) leaving a 10x15 hole in the ground. I want some better disproof than that.
- Xeth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5As an addendum, to some of you, please stop slamming the truthers with 4th grade replies like "troofers are america-hating *****".
Thanks. - DragonGirl724, on 10/11/2007, -8/+10Everything that was ever told to us about 9-11 was misleading! But when someone questions authority and our gov't they're nothing but "conspiracy theorists"....we've been lied to since day 1. This is just another example of it.
- Malbene, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Not paranoid, "crazy".
- MrFlesh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You must be part of the group of rational americans that didn't think the U.S. knew about the attack on pearl harbor, or knew that the second attack in the gulf of tonokin DID happen, or knew that regan had nothing to do with iran contra. You must be one of the "rational people" that knew the cia wasn't dealing drugs, you must be one the people that knew iraqi soldiers were amassing on saudi arabias border and were taking babies out of incubators...yeah the "Rational People" have an awesome track record.
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I ***** hate this new comment system.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It needs more borders, headings, buttons, and boxes. I can almost get three comments on my screen at once...
- Derrekito, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1anyone have a link to the GAO report?
- fantasticFlan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So it's a good thing we sacrificed those people's health and well being, who knows how bad things would have been if we hadn't.
Wait, do we know the economy would have tanked if the rescue workers hadn't worked quite so fast? Am I missing a logical fallacy here? - Xeth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I don't get why this is misleading. The report itself was supposed to be about the RESULTS of the cleanup program. It's not surprising that they checked the contamination after cleaning rather than before...
- UtahApocalyse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2How sad, yet true
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How about digg users just stop posting like ***** idiots? Then we can go back to using the old comment system, which was vastly superior.
- dobba, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No - of course not, but by that point many people had already breathed in the asbestos dust - so that is a problem. The damage was already done but the spin they've put on it is everything is fine - after they've cleared it all away.
There's goign to be a lot of people getting ill from this and the government are simply going to say "well, the air was fine and here's the proof" having given results after they've done a nice little clean up job. It's like exposing someone to radioactive material and then removing it and taking readings claiming 'no radiation here'. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2"It amazes me how dumbed down this world has become when people can't put a little bit of logic into their thought."
Oh please! You are so patronizing.
As for the steel, do you realize that some of the steel columns were destroyed by the impact? That some would have been bent? Combined with the weight of so many stories on top of those beams, and intense heat from the fires, as soon as those beams gave way in the slightest, the whole lot came crashing down. The near free-fall speeds would have snapped the rest of the beams.
So spare us the patronizing *****. You can't even figure out how to use the Digg comment system, and yet you carry on: "Too many people in this world simply listen to what they're told by governments and standard media outlets and say amen to that. Do your own research and use a bit of logical thinking." Give us all just the tiniest of breaks. - Nodaki, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2So the air quality was how much worse then a normal New York summer day?
- spurtle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Take it this way, the acrid smell of burned plastic on a 40 degree autumn day was about 5 times worse than the urine/vomit/feces stench of the subway on a 105 degree summer day
- r81984, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I think there is alot of lies going on about it.
The builders of the world trade center said on the documentry on the history channel they built the building to withstand a plane hit because the empire state building was hit buy a plane. They just did computer simulations at Purdue to prove that the plane and the fires took the building down, but computer simulations are only accurate to the level of data that is inserted into them, thus they mean nothing if there is a coverup because the the legit people will be fed false data without knowing about it.
The purdue people said the plane tore away heat shields on the interior columns which allowed them to burn, but I recall that the tempurature the fuel burns at is not even close to the melting point of the steel used in the building.
That is why they use blast furnaces to melt steel because open burning of fuel cannot reach the tempurature required to melt steel.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blast_furnace
Maybe American Airlines needs to sell their crazy jet fuel to steel companies so they no longer need to spend milliions on blast furnaces.
Also for the pentagon plane, we have no picture of it. No one will release a single picture of the plane, only a blur or a before and after shot.
http://www.freedomfiles.org/war/pentagon.htm - dobba, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Silly little man. Sources for all your info please? Near freefall speed snap the rest of the beams? Which toy town science book are you quoting that from?
And what has my apparent 'not knowing how to use the comment system' got to do with 'too many people listn to what they're told by the governemnt . . . ' quote? You're putting two completely unrelated bits of information together to make yourself sound clever and me a crackpot, especially when I know ho to use the comment system but stated I don't like it - LIKE SO MANY OTHERS ON DIGG!
Ignorance and stupidity seem to be your most shining traits. Come back when you've got some scientific evidence to back up your claims. I have aton of it if you ant mine becuase I've never heard the one about snapping steel being the cause of freefall collapse. :-) - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Read this and spare me your *****: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html?page=1
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Uh, so? The point is to assess the livability conditions right now. Not what it used to be. I know the precision and focus in science tend to confuse people but come on.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Oh ***** off. Nobody cares what you ***** truthers have to say.
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1A lot of people get paid to propagate the 9/11 lie on the Internet. It's an astroturfing campaign to blunt the edge of the rapidly expanding movement to punish the real perpetrators of 9/11 - the Straussians and the Bush administration. Bush supporters often know that 9/11 was an inside job, but it was one that hurt their enemies after America's conversion to militaristic fascism, so they play along. Hell awaits them.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Two words: PROVE IT.
To make a claim like that you have to actually back it up. I've got evidence from a government report, at least half a dozen independent reports, and expert opinions saying it wasn't an inside job. What do you have, some crackpot theories that have been disproven at least a dozen times and are led by a bunch of america-hating loons? - dobba, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2A reply to a reply: I'm not liking this Digg new comment system.
Then I suggest you do a little reading up on the grade of steel used in the WTC, how long it would have to burn to compromise the integrity, that it wasn't burning that hot (remember seeing pictures of people standing waving at the points the plane hit the towers? - can't have been that hot) etc etc. YOU obviously haven't seen a demolition in its aftermath from your comments and also haven't looked into it anymore than someone saying 'this is how it is' and passing it off as truth.
Too many people in this world simply listen to what they're told by governments and standard media outlets and say amen to that. Do your own research and use a bit of logical thinking. If the top came down why was there nothing but small pieces of steel columns rather than the huge mass of them still standing in the centre. There were 47 huge steel columns running through the centre that they omitted fro mthe report. WHY WERE THESE STILL NOT STANDING IF ALLTHAT BROUGHT DOWN THE TOWERS WERE A WEAKENING OF THE STEEL? The whole building simply would not have come down at freefall speed had it not have been for exlosives.
It amazes me how dumbed down this world has become when people can't put a little bit of logic into their thought. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1"Don't fall into this trap of believing that when a building falls it pulverises by it's own means."
What? Have you seen a demolition?
Do you realize how tall the WTC towers were?
Is it that inconceivable that two airliners brought down the towers?
And this: "the tempurature the fuel burns at is not even close to the melting point of the steel used in the building. "
God, this old saw again? It doesn't -have- to melt the steel. All it has to do is compromise the integrity of it enough for the top of the tower to come crashing down upon the rest. -
