- darkcrystal, on 03/25/2009, -0/+35Sucks for all the asians
- Wuss, on 03/25/2009, -0/+16Thats insane! I must live in a pool of hundreds of asians that drink, get red, and dont have esophageal cancer.. now that u mention it, that pool of asians, dont have any family with this particular type of cancer...actually now that you mention it, I've never met anyone who's heard of other asians who's heard of other asians that have esophageal cancer.
In a new study, 100% of people who eat pickles die.... truth. - Lordrust, on 03/25/2009, -1/+16so basically every asian person is susceptible
- tatinthehat, on 03/25/2009, -0/+13Dear Asians,
If you really want to drink, pop a 10 or 20 mg pill (or higher if you choose..) of Pepcid AC (or another other brand that has Famotidine in it). Generally lessens the flush effect. About the cancer, well, I don't know if it'll curb that risk...
Yours Truly,
Another Asian - Danoz, on 03/25/2009, -0/+10Well, i'm not Asian and i get this.
- wthulhu, on 08/29/2009, -0/+8Goddammit. I had a big ol' burger today. Plus my face got splotchy after I had some Jameson. I'm gunna die early.
- OldGuyFox, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8GREAT. just great.
Well I'm screwed. - Lososaurus, on 03/25/2009, -1/+9Who cares? Everything these days gives you cancer. Just eat and drink what you want, just don't do anything stupid.
- AntonMoss, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7Hmmm... I'm half asian, and I get a red face so...
First red meat, now this, goddamn. - Skafia, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7But what about us honkeys?
- VinnieDaMac, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7I'm Chinese and I turn completely red after one shot.
- Quach, on 03/25/2009, -1/+8So asians need to reduce their alcohol consumption? That's fine, we can't hold our liquor anyways. It works both ways!
- Subspace, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7Here's the full text of the study: http://medicine.plosjournals.org/perlserv/?request ...
PDF version: http://medicine.plosjournals.org/perlserv/?request ... - Amadeus2490, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6This has never happened to anyone in my family, so we're cool.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5Wait a minute... I think I'm starting to see a pattern here...
THE COLOR RED KILLS! - aceinhibitor, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Korea must have a national esophageal cancer epidemic then.
- BillDoE, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4I know a guy who is an extreme alcoholic. You know, the guy who puts Jack Daniels in his coffee and drinks PBR. His nickname is Strawberry.

- sanskrtam, on 03/25/2009, -1/+4I don't drink a lot and I don't eat a lot of red meat for health reasons. Man, I will be an immortal.
- doctordbx, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3*****, mine too. I thought it was just her.
Does yours complain about migraines when she doesn't want to do anything you want to do? - thirty6chambers, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3speak for yourself, sissy.
- Fozefy, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3My gf is asian and her face turns read as a beat when she's drunk :O

Its like saying if you breath air you might have a genetic risk of lung cancer. - gnu154, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3See, this is EXACTLY WHY I smoke bowls!

- OldGuyFox, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3Watch World Without Cancer by G Edward Griffin.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4312930190 ... - HannibalLecter, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2Why is Lordrust being dugg up and zan2828 dugg down? Zan2828 is absolutely correct. The numbers of East Asians who suffers from alcohol flush reaction is much closer to 50% than 100%. I don't suffer from it, but several of my relatives do.
- Rivfader, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2This is a retarded study. I don't think I know anybody that does not get flushing red cheeks while drinking alcohol
- add1802, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2my friend isn't asian and glows almost every time he drinks....
bummer - millaround, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2Where/how did you find these?
- Skootles, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Yeah, but I'm going to have more fun with life.

http://www.crystaloak.com/Gaijin/Essay/tomato_addi ... - TeKoverride, on 03/25/2009, -1/+2I call ***** on this study. Anyone else with me?
- bobhellbringer, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1i thought the flushed red cheeks were just there to help the parents catch their kids drinking?
- sat0shi, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1The "turning red while drinking thing" is a genetic disorder, right? My wife has it pretty bad, to the point where she can't really drink at all. Anytime she drinks she gets very flushed, her heart starts beating very fast, and she gets extremely tired to the point of passing out. This is after having like only one drink. So, if any of you guys have this and just think you can't hold your alcohol, I'd be wary of drinking too much as it is actually that your liver cannot process the chemicals in the alcohol properly. Apparently it can be pretty dangerous.
- zan2828, on 03/25/2009, -1/+2many times, asians' alcohol flush reaction, symptoms which include extreme nausea and dizziness, is mistaken for a low tolerance. personally i feel sick like a dog even before i get a buzz.
but my brothers we can overcome. yes we can
famotidine aka pepcid AC really works. 40mg and i'm having a good time while drinking. no redness, nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath, etc. - NoozeHound, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Fergies fooked then!
- Fozefy, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1lmao, sure does! :O and she just read your response and laughed about it.
- fightingforair, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1This is totally a PETA/Puritan folk conspiracy.
They are NOT taking away my cow nor my beer! - tavallai, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1So an Irish tan is really cancer??
- uRmyHartBstopR, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Note: The Asian Glow does not affect every damn Asian but quite a huge number. It's like lactose and tolerance.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Pabst Blue Ribbon? Pshaw! The real alchies drink Steel Reserve.
- AROERS, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Boooooooo. Just allergy's for some people. Cuz of mine gets all red in the face when drinking clear booze. Beer and dark rum / whiskey don't do it.
- a1lazydog, on 03/25/2009, -2/+2who would have thunk it? asian glow is a sign of something deadly....
