- FlaviaJ, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1My Taiwanese and Japanese friends have told me that they long ago stopped buying any food items from China. They said that China regularly adulterates them with chemicals (e.g., the recent melamine in wheat gluten to increase the protein content that wound up in so much of our pet food and in chicken and pig feed). They said that the Chinese products often do not have the contents listed and sometimes lack expiration dates. Add to that, the lack of pollution controls in their industry. What is worse is that, according to reports on Lou Dobbs, the Chinese are now producing more food ingredients, rather than finished food products. So how are we to know?
Also, country-of-origin labeling (COOL) was mandated in the 2002 Farm Bill. COOL was supposed to go into effect in September 2004. Unfortunately, according to the Organic Consumers Association, corporate agribusiness, Wal-Mart, and the supermarket chains blocked implementation of COOL labels. As a result, we are buying billions of dollars of imported foods without knowing it. Why are we importing their food when we produce the best food in the World?
The FDA should be investigated for failing its mission. All of the top people there should be prosecuted for the dog food importation snafu alone. - cherokeerose7, on 05/06/2008, -0/+0You are correct, but as the companies are getting cheap goods at cheap prices , have you not noticed that the cheap goods that we the consumer are getting are costing more and more .China has always hated the White Eyes, as white Americans are called by the Chinese .Thanks to Clinton , now Bush , our country is controlled by the enemy .What happened in the Civil War ? The South LOST because the Southern states had no factories, nor any way to produce ANYTHING needed to fight or live with .What do you think will happen to the U.S.A. , if /when we are indeed at war with our enemies,, the Chinese and the Arab nations ? We depend on our enemies, so who do you think will win ? It is time for our country to open it's factories again , and drill for the abundant oil that our nation has been so blessed to have .It is time to give the citizens of America jobs, and the ability to defend this country once more, before it is to late.

We are basically funding the Chineses military, and we will be at war in the next decade.
We have exported all of our manufacturing to China, we rely on them for our food, and have become a debtor nationto China, so they can defeat us in the near future.
