Please Help Me to Understand
karensugarpants.com — Because let me get this straight: It isn ’t right that a mother worries more about leaving her family in debt, then she does about fighting cancer. America, you need a serious smack to the head. Where are your priorities? Another thing: Money should NEVER stand in the way of health care. Never.

- amy2boys, on 07/21/2008, -1/+0A friend of mine is losing her 2+ years battle with breast cancer. She's 33 yrs old and has 5 children, ages 8 down to 1 year (yes, she got pregnant and had a healthy baby during a remission). It is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. Another friend of hers in another city asked for prayers in her church Sunday school class when the very first diagnosis of cancer was made. A man in that class, a stranger, offered to pay every medical bill that insurance did not cover. He has done this for over two years now. And, he has paid my friend and her husband (who is a pharmacist) for all lost wages the husband suffered from taking additional time off from work.
Miracles happen. This man has offered thousands upon thousands of dollars to help a young woman with 5 little kids who he doesn't even know fight her battle.
I pray that someone(s) steps forward again, for Lisa. - cemeterywinter, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0My co worker woke up Saturday morning to find that her husband was dead. He had been battling cancer and chemo wasn't working well for him. At no time did they tell her he was this bad. As someone with a chronic disease (asthma and rheumatoid arthritis) I can tell you that healthcare in this country sucks ass. Even with insurance, the copays are so high on the meds that work for me, that I can't afford them. I know my illnesses are shortening my life because I can't afford the meds that help me breathe and walk. I don't know what my teenage daughter will do if something happens to me. I am all she has.
