- NeddieSeagoon, on 07/11/2009, -0/+52So THIS is why the once plentiful Plastic Gorilla has been hunted almost to extinction.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -5/+50wouldn't your toes get lonely? I mean they're used to all being next to each other.
- 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -0/+43If the nail were pointing upwards you'd be ***** with almost any sort of shoe.
- marmotjmarmot, on 07/11/2009, -0/+36Running barefoot is how your body was designed to run...
Wow, who'da thunk it. - poidh, on 07/11/2009, -1/+35I've done that in bare feet and the feeling was one of pure horror. My foot felt sick.
- jayrok, on 07/11/2009, -1/+31Goodbye Crocs, hello Gorillas.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+26One day everyone will probably wear shoes like this. It's funny how people thing they look weird but they just look like your feet. The design of traditional shoes is thousands of years old and outdated. The body evolved to walk barefoot not encased in a oval cage.
- StefanVincent, on 07/11/2009, -0/+25Best 60 bucks i ever spent.
- Metadrew, on 07/11/2009, -10/+30I believed you'd get your ass kicked wearing something like that.

- noahgelman, on 07/11/2009, -0/+15Why is it that this is the first time I've heard of these but seemingly almost everyone on Digg already owns a pair?
Maybe I'm just too uncool :( - dafragsta, on 07/11/2009, -2/+15Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
- ha3er0, on 07/11/2009, -0/+12but what if I have 6 toes?
- kingofinternet, on 07/11/2009, -0/+11only the poor wear plastic gorilla feet.
i wear only real gorilla feet. - MScrip, on 07/11/2009, -1/+11So wait.... You actually said the letters L O L out loud?
Shouldn't LOL be used for on-screen communication only?
Or when you leave the dinner table do you say out loud BRB ? - 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10Surprisingly enough, most people don't realize it. The way most people are taught to run (heel to toe) isn't efficient or healthy.
Mid-foot for the win. - Black6x, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10My toes curled up in horror from reading this thread.
- seventoes, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9cool story bro
- Metadrew, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8Will this accommodate the power struggle going on between big toe and toe no. 2?
- sobe4u8k, on 07/11/2009, -1/+9That's what she said...
- morcheeba, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8who... does... number ... two....work... for...?
- PureEvil, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8Best workout my calves ever had! I love those things!
- jtcoons, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8Though you're getting dug down by everyone else, I want to let you know I understand and appreciate the joke.
- 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7=O Mine were $80 CAD.
Love 'em so much. - MScrip, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7>> "I said it phonetically, lowhl. A ridiculous shoe needed a ridiculous response."
Even phonetically doesn't make sense.
LOL IS NOT A WORD... IT'S ONLY FOR THE SCREEN
The only thing ridiculous is you saying LOL outdoors. - JonTheGoose, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7Brilliant. I wonder if they'd be good for hiking.
- browniefive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7I love these things! Great for Martial Arts or really any time you're on a surface where you don't want your feet to have contact with that surface. Highly recommended!
- mogdor, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6With these gorilla feet and that dolphin submarine I just bought, I'm sure to get laid!
- hascat, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6the soles are rubber, not plastic. i've been sporting these since last summer and they're fantastic.
- jallenhayslett, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Own a pair. Best investment I've made in running/walking/hiking footwear in a long time. These things are better for you and more comfortable than any sports shoes I've paid triple digits for.
I like them so much I'm even considering getting another pair simply for everyday wear.
Added bonus: people's reactions range anywhere from interest to absolute disgust. - morcheeba, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6I've got a pair & love them. They are correct with the fickle sizing because toe length becomes another variable to fit for. Apparently I've got long toes, so I got slightly bigger shoes. They feel great, except there is a bit of space at the heel that needed to be taken up with the rubber drawstring.
Also, the pair shown in the article are pretty ugly... they have better looking ones, but they don't really blend in.
Finally, I wore these on a long plane trip. I packed my regular shoes and tried to pass these off as socks to the TSA. They still made me remove them. Well, at least I was comfortable. - huskypride86, on 07/11/2009, -2/+8Crocs and gorillas, sounds like a plot from Mr. Burns!
Mr. Burns:
Some men hunt for sport,
Others hunt for food,
The only thing I'm hunting for,
Is an outfit that looks good...
See my vest, see my vest,
Made from real gorilla chest,
Feel this sweater, there's no better,
Than authentic Irish setter.
See this hat, 'twas my cat,
My evening wear - vampire bat,
These white slippers are albino
African endangered rhino.
Grizzly bear underwear,
Turtles' necks, I've got my share,
Beret of poodle, on my noodle
It shall rest,
Try my red robin suit,
It comes one breast or two,
See my vest, see my vest,
See my vest.
Like my loafers? Former gophers -
It was that or skin my chauffeurs,
But a greyhound fur tuxedo
Would be best,
So let's prepare these dogs,
Mrs. Potts:
Kill two for matching clogs,
Burns:
See my vest, see my vest,
Oh please, won't you see my vest. - belebih, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6It's God's shoes!
"Thou shalt have shoes with toes stitched in. Thou shalt have socks attached to thine shoes. Thou shalt have a lot of other stuff that will come forthwith."
Hallelujah! - hascat, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5i alternated these with my hiking boots in yosemite last month. worked pretty well.
- jezsik, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5Details, please!
- DharmaT, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5@1hrSleep
Sorry for the barrage of questions.
How do you find them for winter running? Do you worry about glass/sharp stuff on the ground? I run mostly on concrete/pavement, how are they for those surfaces?
Thx - cfuse, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5You don't understand women. If they aren't being crippled they aren't interested.
- RangersWin, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5If this piques your interest, you should check out "Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen" by Christopher McDougall. One character in the book wears Vibram Fivefingers and is a well known "minimalist runner". Check out his blog http://barefootted.com/
- an0nymous, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5See my vest?
- ophello, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5I want them.
- datagod, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6Just image the gross feeling the first time you step in dog poop and it squishes between your toes!
- 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Do you say "Berb"? "Ahfkuh"? "Lamaow"?
- 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5@Dharmat
I used to have arch pain in both of my feet and used Superfeet insoles. After a week of using Vibrams all foot pains were gone (with exception to the expected soreness). Take what you will from that, I still wear Superfeet/hard insoles in my other shoes (including cycling) but don't need anything extra with the Vibrams.
I think it's the way you change your technique (natural walking) and the benefits of no support. - mikemehak, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4I would like to try these on at a shoe store first.
I have short but wide feet and like to try shoes on first. - 1hrSleep, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5Nope. I get a lot of questions about it though and "Cool!" on the skytrain and bus.
- 1hrSleep, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4For winter, I can stand running until I get into deeper snow. At that point my socks will soak up and things get painfully numb (heh).
I don't worry about glass or other objects more than I do wearing my running shoes. I don't look for sharp objects to walk through but I don't worry about it more than usual. It's actually easier to avoid injuries from these because you'll walk with a lighter step with more feedback.
On concrete/pavement, you're definitely going to have to relearn how to run/walk. On grass and dirt you can get away with heavier steps but on the road you'll feel the ground. Slap your hands against something as if you were running. That's what it'll feel like. I don't think you'll have any trouble naturally adapting though. Avoiding pain comes built into us, eh? - boxoctosis, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5I saw an older guy wearing these on the subway today. Creepy.
- Suaves2102, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4What about my friend who has two toes webbed together?
- wixed, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3i got a pair after seeing the booth at the Boston Marathon in April this year. i've worn sneakers on only three occasions since then. my Five Fingers are my life
- z00k, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3Only thing that sucks about these shoes is they dont go past 13=> for sizes.
