- twiztidsinz, on 07/04/2009, -1/+345"I don't believe in them," Carl Worthington said of doctors. "I believe in faith healing."
So.. how's that workin' out for ya? - tgibobby, on 07/04/2009, -3/+273Choosing your beliefs is fine. Imposing them on an innocent 15 month old baby is not fine. I am a doctor and could have helped this child. Faith didn't help. Look what happened.
- DouglasQ, on 07/04/2009, -3/+151Parents don't have the right to endanger their children's lives.
- Elijah17, on 07/04/2009, -15/+162You see, this is why people laugh at religion!
It all (religion, faith, blind belief in a higher power, putting the outcome in "God's Hands") makes no ***** sense. It's ridiculous.
Ignorance. Total ***** ignorance.... - sturmgiest, on 07/04/2009, -0/+142Funny, it looks like they do however believe in Attorneys.
- Cheezian, on 07/04/2009, -3/+123Faith-healing (as a complete replacement of doctors) should be illegal now that it has been proven to not work in court.
- ohthedaysofyore, on 07/04/2009, -1/+113I don't think I'd want to walk a mile in the shoes of any parent who would willingly let their child die because of their "faith".
You ass-hat. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+110What a bunch of ***** idiots. Put those morons in jail.
In a perfect world God would have killed those two retarded parents for neglecting a child.
What religion supports "faith-healing" anyway? - RobotCitizen, on 07/04/2009, -2/+87Guardianship != ownership, for *****'s sake!
- kabes, on 07/04/2009, -0/+84"By Saturday, her breathing became labored and the family turned to its traditional faith-healing rituals, praying, fasting, anointing the body with oil, administering diluted wine and laying on of hands."
"Asked if she would have taken Ava to a doctor if she knew her child was dying, Raylene Worthington said, "I don't know." "
This is heartbreaking. This child didn't need to die. These parents deserve to be punished for the depraved murderers they are. I'm sorry but you can't hide behind the veil of religion when someone dies, especially a child who never had any choice to follow such absurd beliefs. Never. - rocknog, on 07/04/2009, -0/+82Strange that someone would reject what can easily be seen by one's plain eyes, but would embrace that which clearly does not work. Am I missing something here, because that sounds incredibly ***** up. It's like someone, after having just fallen down a flight of stairs, saying "I don't believe in gravity, I believe in my magical hover powers."
- Renian, on 07/04/2009, -2/+77Medical science counts as wisdom and knowledge that has been found. There's a whole book in the Bible about seeking wisdom and knowledge, but applying it is out of the question?
God called you to be Christians, not retards. - Ghostalker, on 07/04/2009, -3/+75Prayer - How to do nothing and still think you're helping

- ieatpoptarts, on 07/04/2009, -1/+60Laying on of Hands didn't work?
WORST. PALADINS. EVER. - alappat1, on 07/04/2009, -1/+58its the child that died here, not the ignorant parents...
- jaaames, on 07/04/2009, -0/+57There's no such thing as gravity. There is only Intelligent Falling.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+55They didn't just make a decision, they gave her a death sentence. We don't allow mothers to shake their babies to death and that is a decision, we don't allow prom moms to dump their babies in a dumpster and that is a decision. We shouldn't allow this for the same reasons.
- rocknog, on 07/04/2009, -2/+54Would you be singing the same tune if the decision was to bash the child's head in with a hammer?
- Frogking, on 07/04/2009, -4/+49Everybody knows that prayer only works for professional athletes and media industry award winners. Duh!
- DouglasQ, on 07/04/2009, -0/+43A faith hammer.

- adderley, on 07/04/2009, -0/+39I bet he takes his car to a mechanic.
Seriously though, those people need to be punished. - alappat1, on 07/04/2009, -2/+39Yet another example of how blind faith with no regard for opposing evidence results in tragedy.
- joker2459, on 07/04/2009, -3/+37completely different things.
1) they had the kid so they should take care of it.
2) you are a retard - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+35dip his balls in acid for killing the kid
- brownsound00, on 07/04/2009, -1/+34My beef with all this ***** is that religion is not something a baby picks. It's what their parents pick. Do you think you are going to have a Muslim pop out of Alabama? or a Christian come out of Tehran? No. It's the parents. Therefore, you can't say that your beliefs are always right. That's why it's wrong. Believe whatever you want, but if the babies life is in danger... ***** that, get them to the ER, otherwise charge em for parent negligence
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -10/+41No religion supports this kind of *****. Sure a few crazy ass sects have outright stupid ideas, but those are the minority.
Putting it in God's hands means doing your best to see that the person survives, be it surgery or therapy or medicines. Refusing all of those technological advances is akin to refusing to cook a salmonella-ridden steak because you don't "believe" in using a fire.
Refusing the tools given to you is a slap in God's face. He gave us sentience and ingenuity and the power to learn, so ignoring our abilities and advances is criminal. - pintomp3, on 07/04/2009, -0/+31Sadly, there are quite a few anti-science doctors out there:

Considering germ theory is based on evolution, I wonder how much they grasp modern medicine. Do they prescribe prayer instead of anti-biotics? - Suricou, on 07/04/2009, -0/+30At least in regards to minors. Once someone is old enough to make their own decisions, they should be able to reject medicine for themselves - but until that day, I see no justification for allowing their guardians to kill them through well-meaning inaction.
- doshindude, on 07/04/2009, -3/+33Even religions are against that! Seriously, people who do this are just stupid, I'm pretty sure most churches/temples/mosques will indeed recommend medical health over only praying and nothing else.
- jsebrech, on 07/04/2009, -0/+30If he admits to himself that he was wrong now, it means he takes on the guilt for murdering his own daughter. If he sticks with the faith healing line, then the death of the daughter was just "god's will". He's basically a very morally weak person clinging to god to avoid having to face himself.
- audguy, on 07/04/2009, -2/+31Nice troll!
9.95/10 - calcm, on 07/04/2009, -2/+30Um, Luke the writer of both the book of Luke and the book of Acts in THE BIBLE was a DOCTOR! What a bunch of MORONS!
- tk0680, on 07/04/2009, -0/+27It was on cooldown after an atheist came within 5m of them.
- Suricou, on 07/04/2009, -0/+27Based on my extensive debates with people of similar views, I am confident he still believes in faith healing. He isn't going to let a little thing like the death of his daughter get in the way of that.
- markf3388, on 07/04/2009, -2/+28there is no need to "believe" in medicine, it either works or doesn't and their are millions of tests to prove if stuff works or not. When are we going to reach the point when we can stop counting these retard's opinions as valid?
- yocouchdigga, on 07/04/2009, -8/+32***** Religion
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -10/+34I'd rather the care of that child put in the hands, or should I say paws, of Pedobear.
Pedobear would have made sure the child was treated by a doctor because Pedobear loves children. - cly8419, on 07/04/2009, -5/+29Faith by definition is blind.
- CopernicusCenji, on 07/04/2009, -2/+26Every time somebody trys to tell me that religion is harmless, I point to tragic stories like this. This is depraved indifference cloaked in the scant illusion of "freedom of religion", and that's a goddamned shame. People *SHOULD* be able to believe what they want, but the point at which somebody else's beliefs, freedoms, or LIFE are jeopardized is the point that people's freedom of religion should go RIGHT out the window. Anybody that defends this couple is exactly what's wrong with society.
- jaaames, on 07/04/2009, -1/+24The Hebrew Hammer.
- Suricou, on 07/04/2009, -0/+23Numerous Christian denominations, including quite a few megachurches. It's actually quite popular - but usually something people turn too in addition to medicine. Pray, send the patient to a doctor, pray some more. Only the most dedicated reject medical care altogether, on the grounds that to seek human help would be to question the power of prayer.
- str1fe, on 07/04/2009, -0/+22The sheer ignorance is headache-inducing. I dearly hope that was an epic troll, what little faith I have in humanity refuses to believe anyone is that dense.

"Little cleaner, George, little cleaner." - dikky, on 07/04/2009, -4/+25I was a doctor in SWG, along with 31 other professions, so I could have healed her, sold her weapons, then helped her kill a krayt dragon and then finally danced for her.
- Fjosnisse, on 07/04/2009, -5/+26I'm not a doctor either, but I play one in real life.
- spookyttws, on 07/04/2009, -0/+20Normally, I'm fine with people being morons (after all, it does make for good YouTube clips) but the second these people became parents it became immediately unacceptable for them to continue being morons. Having a child requires you to put your personal quirks, odd behaviors, and general 17th century thinking aside and do what the baby books, doctors, and the rest of the normal world recommends you do. Sorry, you may not have chosen to become a parent, but you had many ways to prevent it and at least a few months after conception to reverse it, after that you cannot be irresponsible any longer. You owe it to your child to become a normal functioning adult. I have no sympathy for these people.
