- Rapter09, on 11/11/2009, -3/+70Chocolate milk is awesome. ***** the haters.
I'm drinking some delicious chocolate milk right now, in fact. - jaytek13, on 11/11/2009, -0/+66I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. Being a heatlhy, normal weight teenager is easy, regardless of eating habits. It's when those terrible eating habits you developed as a child/teenager carry over into adulthood that it starts becoming an issue.
- thegamingguy, on 11/10/2009, -1/+58I used to only get the little chocolate cartons back in grade school, which I am sure was way better for me than the Dr. Pepper I am drinking now.
- brandozilla, on 11/11/2009, -3/+60this gets 9 diggs? Let your kid have some friggin chocolate milk, just make sure he doesn't drink too much of it and gets exercise. *****.
- Blinker1315, on 11/10/2009, -5/+57Well, no, chocolate milk isn't "health" food. But what is these days, unless you want to keep your kids on a ridiculously stringent diet. Maybe a roasted yam for a treat! Really, my kids had McDonald's and Coke when they were kids, as well as chocolate milk, and they're now fit, healthy teenagers.
- angel.wardriver, on 11/10/2009, -1/+53Well holy cow...chocolate makes everything better...
- rocknog, on 11/11/2009, -0/+45*looks at can of Coke* Well this baby I've got in my hands right here has 40 grams of sugar. I don't think anyone's gonna mistake chocolate milk for health food, but it's a helluva lot better than a lot of things kids could be drinking. Sure it's got a bit of sugar in it, but at least it still has nutritional value, compared to most things kids drink, which are loaded with sugar and have no nutritional value.
- CourageWulf, on 11/10/2009, -2/+46Sounds like they really weren't in the mooo'd.
- AmyVernon, on 11/11/2009, -0/+42I hate to break it to you, but that cow is purple.
- frousfroud, on 11/11/2009, -1/+40Screw these people. The two worst kinds of parents are degenerates who don't give a ***** about their kids and maniacs that suck out everything that is wonderful about childhood.
- NoLibertarians, on 11/11/2009, -3/+34Milk is a health food, especially for the young. Helps build strong bones. If the chocolate helps them to enjoy milk great!
- anonymousmedic, on 11/11/2009, -1/+25Cows in Europe go "Shaaazooooo".
- vault, on 11/11/2009, -1/+25Nothing wrong with treating a kid to chocolate milk once in a while. They're kids...not like you're giving them malt liquor here.
- AmyVernon, on 11/11/2009, -2/+25My sister never drank milk unless it was chocolate milk growing up. I never drank chocolate milk. She's skinnier than I am as an adult, and not because she works out or anything. While I don't think anyone should tout chocolate milk as "health food," I also don't think it's really that bad.
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -1/+24Or you could be a responsible parent and keep an eye on your kids chocolate milk intake instead of banning it outright.
- PowderedToasty, on 11/11/2009, -2/+23The major ingredient is milk, which is good for you. The other ingredient is chocolate, which compared to other crap food isn't so bad.
- seledoux, on 11/11/2009, -0/+20my bones are so brittle! but i always drink plenty of ..malk?
- FormerBabby, on 11/11/2009, -0/+20Chocolate milk in Ontario has 1% milk as apposed to 2%. Less fat, same nutrition, I don't see the problem. Perhaps instead of overreacting, we should simply read the nutritional label.
- TheKriket, on 11/11/2009, -0/+18Chocolate Milk and Rice Krispies, the best way to boost a child's immune system!
- kartman2001, on 11/11/2009, -0/+18It's a bitch when that metabolism stops.
- serif69, on 11/11/2009, -1/+17Choc it up to milking their 15 minutes of fame.
- xixphz, on 11/11/2009, -1/+17I thought it was udderly horrid myself.
- Travelsonic, on 11/11/2009, -1/+16Shove your pro-AR ***** somewhere else, snow.
Now, if they started making chocolate milk with real dark chocolate, it would be the bvest of both worlds (milk and the benefits of dark chovcolate). - edwadokun, on 11/11/2009, -3/+18'Mommy will you play with me?' -kid
'Don't bother mommy, she is fighting for your health. no time to pay attention to you and teach you how to make smart choices' -mother
*kid goes away sad, and eats his sadness away*
'my kid is over weight because you people serve him bad foo-- what? not now dear mommy is yelling at the people who aren't really responsible for your weight'
*kid goes away sad again and eats his sadness away again'
i hope my point is clear - penguinofspades, on 11/11/2009, -0/+15i know lots of tri-athletes and just athletes in general that swear by the stuff as a post workout drink. supposed to reduce fatigue.
- Coven, on 11/11/2009, -0/+15PETA and Yahoo answers...wow. Seriously?
- GrammerPants, on 11/11/2009, -0/+14"now with vitamin R"
- quixand, on 11/11/2009, -1/+14Actually, for adults anyways, or for active athletes, chocolate milk after workout is better than recovery drinks for you. An 8 ounce glass of fat free milk with 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup contains the perfect 4 to 1 ratio of sugars and protein to help your body recover and repair from physical damage.
So yes, drink your chocolate milk, it's good for you. - offthewagon, on 11/11/2009, -1/+13From wiki
"Chocolate supplies oxalic acid, which reacts with the calcium in the milk producing calcium oxalate, thus preventing the calcium from being absorbed in the intestine. However, it is present in small enough amounts that the effect on calcium absorption is negligible"
Half truths = fail. - MacBookForMe, on 11/10/2009, -2/+14Most kids in Europe think that an average cow is pink... http://images.meteociel.fr/im/2943/Milka-Cow-25254 ...
so the chocolate milk could do quite well here, no matter the craziness of that idea... - megapartyboy, on 11/11/2009, -2/+13I was really mooooved by that vid.
- evenflowdave, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12just feed the cows lots of chocolate... maybe the milk will come out naturally chocolaty :)
- Quintios, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11My chocolate milk is not black. Perhaps you should check and see what they are putting in yours?
Just sayin... - Cepster, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11PETA is the epitome of ***** propaganda pandering. I can't believe you're trying to convince us by using them as your source. Get your head out of the clouds, you ***** euphorian.
- chaseacej, on 11/11/2009, -1/+12I don't get what the beef is with parents.
- Variability, on 11/11/2009, -0/+10Don't have a cow, man.
- SuicideMouse, on 11/11/2009, -0/+10I'm in Ontario and I've had weight issues (underweight) for a few years in the past. I will not drink milk, I honestly hate the taste and it makes me nauseous, so my doctor asked me to just drink lots of chocolate milk. Not for the weight gain but for the calcium and nutrients, told me I would be getting the same benefits as drinking normal milk.
- NightEmber79, on 11/11/2009, -0/+10Is this ***** serious? Hey parents, you're the parents. The kids eat and drink what you make them. I sort of remember my folks making me eat my vegetables and limiting my sugar intake. The way these idiot parents are raising fat little bloated suckling aphids is disgusting. Now chocolate milk is the quick fix for fat kids? Great. Let the fat little ***** feet fall off from diabetes. Just don't cry and blame other people when it happens, absentee parents.
- DjBearPDX, on 11/11/2009, -4/+14Cow noises!
- DarkRavyn, on 11/11/2009, -1/+11Um...Good god. I'm 27 years old and as a kid would drink chocolate milk every day in school. This is ridiculous
- offthewagon, on 11/11/2009, -1/+11Man, that author ends the article in the douchiest way possible. She really needs to get her head out of her ass.
- Cepster, on 11/11/2009, -0/+9But I always drink plenty of......malk?
- Travelsonic, on 11/11/2009, -1/+10Green,
PCRM? Really? A front group for radical AR group PETA is the best you could do? - SystemicThought, on 11/11/2009, -1/+10This just in: Dousing apple slices in Hershey's Chocolate Syrup is a great way to get kids to eat their fruit!
- Variability, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8Yes but illiteracy is a growing epidemic in NA. What now? We've cornered ourselves.
- neognostic, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8This link has further evidence of the benefits of milk.
http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/05/chocolate-m ... - offthewagon, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8Were you gargling with it? Why would chocolate milk matter if you just started to lose your baby teeth as you were finishing with the bottle?
Sounds like bad genetics. - allisonaxe, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8the key in everything is moderation. when I was a young child, i didn't get any sugary treats, I ate healthy all of the time, and halloween was the only time I remember having an unhealthy amount of candy. sure, there was the occasional treat, but for the most part, i lived in a healthy household. now that I'm an adult, though, and can do whatever I want, I've made up for lost time and until recently have had very, very bad discipline when it comes to junk food. a bit of junk food is ok, but denying it altogether makes it that much more desirable when children grow old enough to pick their own meals.
- Kerrigore, on 11/11/2009, -2/+9Yeah, they totally had a cow.
- thscientist1, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7i like your punctuation
