- pookydirt, on 04/13/2009, -0/+28This would be awesome! Biopsies right now sometimes have to go the route of necessary evil... the less invasive, the better!
- mycutepetpics, on 04/13/2009, -0/+25Wish my father knew about this before his biopsy last week. Unfortunately he ended up getting very ill from the antibiotics and when he finally started feeling better, he found out he has prostate cancer. Double whammy. Triple whammy if you count the awkward entry and location of the biopsy.
He wouldn't let it get him down, so he took off to Florida for a 2 week vacation.
Smart man imho. - sheeplescareme, on 04/13/2009, -0/+11your father sounds like an amazing individual.
i hope that he remains strong and wins his battle. - heatherwight, on 04/13/2009, -1/+12Does anyone know if this procedure works for all types of cancer? I saw in the article that they were focusing on blood cancers but were working with it on head and neck tumors. Each cancer is so different from the others and I was wondering if this was a universal procedure.
- mycutepetpics, on 04/13/2009, -1/+7Thank you so very much Sheeple & jash.
I hope he wins the battle as well.
Thank you so much again and God Bless you both. - Jashobeam5, on 04/13/2009, -0/+6Ditto
- Womenhunt2, on 04/13/2009, -0/+5There are tests out there right now that can detect cancer in your blood, i.e. CA-125, etc. Unfortunately, most insurance companies will not pay for the test, very expensive, unless you have already had cancer. Let's hope they make this affordable to where insurance companies will agree to it as a routine screening for cancer, rather than only approving after cancer has been diagnosed.
- TomTruelle, on 04/13/2009, -0/+5Agreed. I also think its hilarious/sad that mycutepetpics got buried for saying "god bless you both". Some people need to get over themselves.
- twertyto, on 04/13/2009, -1/+5God bless your father. I hope he gets better.
- Foamed, on 04/13/2009, -0/+4I got diagnoed with a bad case of leukemia recently and since then I've been through many different kinds of biopsies (bone and bone marrow biopsies (to name a few). I must say that it lightens my heart to see that there is progress in this field of medicine, because I wish no person to go through a bad biopsy (which can be very painful).
- SilverBlade2k, on 04/13/2009, -0/+3Too bad this wasn't available in 2005..when I had a biopsy to determine the kind of cancer I had (Non-Hodge kins Lymphoma)
- spongya77, on 04/13/2009, -0/+3 I have to read the original, but this is something to be pursued. The sad fact is that for many cancers treatment in later stages seems to be impossible; yet early detection would increase the survival read many-many times fold. The money spent on treatment is far more than spent on early detection techniques, and still nothing. If it was the other way around, maybe we'd have something.
The problem is that many cancers do not cause problems until it is too late. Pancreatic cancer is one terrible example. Melanoma is also a very dangerous cancer which has a very low survival rate once it progresses, but since you can actually see it, you can simply remove it before it spreads to other parts of the body. If we could do it with all the cancer types, that would really help the victims. - txchica, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2I agree, my stepfather just passed away last week from lung cancer, treatment didn't help at all since he was diagnosed at such a late stage. It could have been a completely different outcome if he had been diagnosed at the beginning stages and not as a stage 3. I hope they continue to make progress on this, cancer is such an insidious disease.
- mycutepetpics, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1Thank you so very much and God Bless you and your family.
- CrimsonFlash, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1It's also enough to transfer Rage.
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1I wish I could through my kudos in the ring on this but if there is one industry that has earned my skepticism over the years beyond government, it's medicine. I hope this is true, but I fear it's speculative or inconclusive at best.
- Byroncoughlin, on 04/13/2009, -1/+0Hello Gattaca
- noutlaw, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0Cancer is a terrible diagnosis - if you know someone be supportive. Looking for others with similar conditions? Need to ask a private question? try http://facetofacehealth.com - We're New and we want to help the healthcare community share and learn. Thank You.
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -0/+0When you have a huge industry that feeds on the treatment of a disease, then you have created an enemy to the cure.
- moocow1452, on 04/13/2009, -2/+1Yeah, Claires.
- LukasNZ69, on 04/13/2009, -5/+0interesting, almost as interesting as the lies that obama has been feeding us with his radical socialist ideals. there will be huge increases in cancer rates in the world coz of obamas policies he is very unchristian and jesus will punish us for it.
