- biofriendlyblog, on 09/17/2009, -0/+27WTH?! It's scary to know things like that are happening...
- Spanq, on 09/17/2009, -0/+26This woman apparently was banned by the state from working at any medical facility, yet Audubon didn't get the memo until 6 months after they hired her. Although the blame clearly lies on Parker, nobody else has been reprimanded, fired, or punched in the neck for hiring this *****.
- BeShirtHappy, on 09/17/2009, -6/+24This is just one of the many reasons I avoid hospitals/doctors like the plague.
- leafybean, on 09/17/2009, -0/+17This is disturbing for me on a whole new level. I am 22, and I am positive for hepatitis C. I have never had sex of any kind (VIRGINS ON DIGG, LOL), and have never had any needles near me other then at a doctors office or when I had my wisdom teeth removed. When I first found out, it was on my third time donating blood for the red cross. When I got a letter from the red cross saying I was positive, I was devastated. I have lived the most boring life (risk wise) and have no idea how I got this.
I have now spent so much time getting blood work done and two liver biopsies. Each time I am now met with some distrust by my own doctor. How can you explain to someone you now have a disease that is mostly spread through illegal drug use, and yet you have never used any drugs. Each test has came back with a zero viral load, but the antibodies are in my system. Its like waking up with a loaded gun in your hand and blood everywhere. Even my mother asked me repeatedly, "do you need help with drugs?". It breaks my heart.
The worst is not knowing whither or not this is a fresh infection. One lab tech did say that a few people will get it and then fight it off as stated in the article. But until I begin to show a viral load, or signs of liver inflammation, I cannot get treatment of any kind. But the worst part is now I can never donate blood for the rest of my life. My father instilled within me a massive respect for those that donate blood. He has donated over 80 times in his life. Even though he is now in his 60s, he still donates. He has not said much to me after he learned about my infection. Ill leave it at that. - Boogalou007, on 09/17/2009, -1/+17To add insult to injury, think about the poor patients who received a saline injection instead of the real stuff. Then upon waking from surgery in serious pain, they're told they've already been given pain relief and will have to wait to receive more.
What a narcissistic bitch. - abajaj2280, on 09/17/2009, -0/+13Oh wow, this is freaking terrible. What kind of a sick nurse would do that?!
- ATL, on 09/17/2009, -0/+11What a horrible bitch.
- nudedos, on 09/17/2009, -0/+8***** this lady and the system that allowed her to go 6 months beyond when she was banned.
- baja01, on 09/17/2009, -1/+9Not in an industry where they could easily infect someone.
- drewX2, on 09/17/2009, -0/+6I take offense to the title considering I am a nurse (RN) and the person who infected all these people is a scrub tech/surgical tech. Not that I am hating on techs. They are just completely different from nurses.
- uglyMiata, on 09/17/2009, -0/+6Yes you could, you could also be struck by lightning, but your chances are much better if you don't golf in a thunderstorm. The Chef, Wal-mart stocker / etc would be hard pressed to gain access to my circulatory system.
- pintocat, on 09/17/2009, -0/+5Damn... she sounds like a character who belongs in a Saw sequel.
- financephi, on 09/17/2009, -0/+5Sorry to hear that, and I hope everything works out okay for you. Stay strong friend!
- Boogalou007, on 09/17/2009, -3/+8SEE this is what happens when you elect a BLACK president and push Obamacare on America. This is EXACTLY why the public option is un-American!
This poor white woman would NOT have been pushed to such extremes if it wasn't for the dirty liberals and their communist/nazi/satanist ideology! Why do liberals hate America?
/S
Waits for the Digg teabaggers to miss the /s and start digging me up... - infinitus64, on 09/17/2009, -0/+5***** ***** junkies. Why not get some free needles and return them clean with saline.
- metalhead3767, on 09/17/2009, -0/+4And this is how America has the best health care in the entire world...
- greentable, on 09/17/2009, -0/+4FINALLY someone agrees with me!
- cp101, on 09/17/2009, -0/+4That's considered Biological Terrorism.
- HurricaneDC, on 09/17/2009, -0/+3How the hell do ***** like these get hired?
- KrazyMon2, on 09/17/2009, -0/+3***** you. Bury and report so hopefully you don't get the chance to spam again.
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+3wow , that's terrible. It's quite possible you got it at the doctor's office. I'm surprised they don't get you on Interferon. That's the best time to fight the infection : before it takes.
- smemily, on 09/17/2009, -0/+3Aw, but I have been looking for so long for a site featuring a pot hung on a branch!
- LuxFestinus, on 09/17/2009, -3/+5Hepatitis C, the gift that keeps on giving.
Seriously, many people in the medical profession will argue against testing for diseases like this one and others to determine eligibility for work. I wish they could be permanently boycotted but unfortunately the people with this mindset seem to have a monopoly. - BrokenCircle, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2I hope she dies soon... Oh look she has Hep C...
- dippindots, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2How selfish could this lady be??? This is simply outrageous.
- ZeoFateX, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2Agreed. Buried as inaccurate!
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2That ***** ***** needs to die in prison.
- ementalo, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2Whats also bad is she replace painkillers with saline...
- westonforbes, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2I realized halfway through the article that my mental image of the nurse was the joker from Dark Knight. Movie was more powerful than I thought.
- solidad, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1I am and was in the same boat of getting HepC mysteriously. Still don't know how it happened, but I have had therapy and have been "undetectable" (viral load is so low that the virus basically can't be seen) for about 2 years now or so. If you do get to a point of needing therapy, just know that it's expensive ($1500 / month) but you can usually get on a program to get the meds reduced or free. If you don't drink much or do anything really stressful, you should be fine for quite a long time. It does suck not being able to donate blood, but at least this illness is pretty manageable. If you (or anyone else for that matter) has any questions, feel free to ask. about the worst I had to go through were the liver biopsies (such an odd feeling) and the self injections..but you get used to those pretty quick. luckily I didn't have to find a vein.
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -1/+2Cool story bro.
- Gloogle, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1You probably got stab with something when you were lil. Might have gotten it from the red cross, or one of your doctors, the dentist. Your mother. I got herpes type 1 from my parents. but they say 1 of 4 people have it in the population.
- lnxfi, on 09/17/2009, -1/+2you a tard? she did a bad thing, but I know 2 people who have Hep C and it was not their fault. So... neither of them should work?
- Animan351, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1***** crack ho.
- aadautech, on 11/08/2009, -0/+0Around 3 per cent of the world’s population is estimated to be infected with hepatitis C virus. It is more prevalent in high income countries. Approximately 80 per cent of these infections become chronic, of which 15-20 per cent develops into cirrhosis. Of those, 1-4 per cent develops into liver cancer each year.

- lnxfi, on 09/17/2009, -3/+2You could be infected by a chef, walmart employee, etc...
- Sewermutt, on 09/17/2009, -14/+12This is why women shouldn't leave the kitchen.
