- JoyEllen, on 12/12/2008, -0/+1I would expect to give this to someone I knew wanted it. or ask someone to get it for me. I wouldn't give to a friend as a hint that they need it. But I would be happy if someone in my immediate family gave it to me.

- inactive, on 12/11/2008, -0/+1Teeth sensitivity specifically from teeth whitening only lasts 48 - 72 hours. This is the time it takes the dentin tubes to fill in with particulate matter and normal plaque entering your mouth. The teeth whitening process basically cleans out your dentin tubes and makes your teeth feel more sensitive because the feelings of hot, cold and off base foods can be felt by the nerves in the teeth. This can be solved by using a fluoride rinse for 72 hours and yes, using sensodyne toothpaste. In addition to that it isn't as common for people to get teeth whitening sensitivity anymore due to reminalization materials and rehydration additives being added to teeth whitening gels. With all that said, people with highly sensitive teeth should probably not get their teeth whitened because it can make it worse for a short period of time.
What's is the saying? "BEAUTY IS PAIN?" - nightcats, on 12/11/2008, -0/+1You should also know, however, that teeth whitening causes sensitive teeth to become more sensitive. Anyone suffering from heat or cold sensitivity should avoid whiteners of any kind. And, yes, Sensodyne has a whitening version of their toothpaste. According to my dental hygienist, their rep admitted that the whitening agent removes the anti-sensitive agent from the toothpaste. I guess they figure the consumer wants it so they give it to us.
