- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20this ink should be legally mandated if the customer is drunk.
next morning:
"Power Puff Girls?!? WTF!!!!" - ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Exactly. Now I can finally get that beatiful tatt I was eyeing...
http://www.boingboing.net/2006/02/03/pac_man_ass_tattoo.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Who says they're supposed to be permanent?
They've simply been permanent up until this point. - Ndiggnation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Too late for those that already have a tramp stamp..
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Forehead advertising, anyone?
- KayinNasaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Says who? They're supposed to be artwork. On your body.
- LegendX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9oh neato. So I can let my girlfriend get a tattoo, which I already know she will regret when she gets it.
- node3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Wow. I'm amazed at all the tattoo snobs.
You can still get a permanent one, if you want. For the rest of us, we can get a tattoo and keep it forever, change it if we want to, or erase it altogether.
After all, it's not like tattoo removal doesn't already exist. This is like that, only more so.
I'd probably never get a standard permanent tattoo, but a reversible one, that's something I could get into, even if I never removed it. - Domestiques, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Its a great idea, but personally, as a man with tattoo's, I like tradition and the fact that it is permanent, If I regret it, as Charlie Simpson said of Studio 21 tattoo in Las Vegas, it's a story.
- Lafftermath, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Don't put it on your body unless its worth being permanent.
- DirkVanAss, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I have both arms half sleeved, and I really don't think they should take the permanent factor out of tattooing. That's why you get a tattoo, because its art on your body that no one can take away from you.
Get the inside of your mouth done if you don't want it there forever.
Plus why would you get a tattoo knowing you might want it removed someday?
I hope i regret a few of my tatts later, for me the all symbolize a time in my life and remind me where i was. Even though the tattoo maybe have no meaning towards that at all - jaxshores, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The future is here, it's just not widely distributed yet. I might be tempted to get a tatoo with this ink, if I can find an awesome artist.
- energizerrabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ stuartcow:
Tattoo artists around where I live do a breath test to find out what your alcohol level is, if you are "drunk" then they refuse you service, and they will set up a meeting for another time if it pleases the client.
*Man I wish digg would let me reply to those who have replied. - Arbus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If I want a temporary tattoo I'll go to the bubble gum machines in the grocery store and get one - and if I'm lucky, I'll get one of those stretchy hands too.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And personally, as a man with no tattoos, I can say that I would probably have more than zero tattoos right now if they were not permanent. I just can't think of anything I would want for the rest of my life. Like clothes, music, and other matters of taste things will change in 10-40 years and I won't get a permanent tattoo I'm not sure I will still want when I'm a grandpa.
For me several piercings have come & a few have gone. If those were permanent I wouldn't have any of them either. Body modding is fine in my opinion, but I'm wary of permanent mods because they are based on your taste _at that time_. It's not so much about regret as it is foresight.
I know it's different for everyone, so I'm sure that once this becomes more popular we'll still have a choice of permanent vs. non-permanent. - thisisbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ flamingmb and energizerrabbit
i second that. go ahead and digg me down though.
bring it bitches - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Where's the commitment?
- stuartcow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5well, you can't legally tattoo someone who is drunk....
- Cygnus666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I couldn't agree with you more Lafftermath...This kinda defeats the whole idea of a tattoo. If your gettting a tattoo now because you know you could remove it later, then don't get it at all.
- wordfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is crap. If a sorority girl isn't committed enough to having the Tasmanian Devil PERMANENTLY tattooed on her ankle, then she doesn't deserve a tat. Give it up tattoo people, your little "art form" has already been made ridiculous by the prevalent bad judgment of youth.
- stuartcow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3all tattoos fade in prolonged sunlight... they advise you not to get them in places that will constantly be in sunlight and you are supposed to keep them covered for the first week or so after you get one.
i had no idea any about any of that before i got my first one... - tarmithius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Tattoos are created by ripping the skin and depositing ink in the fresh wound, even with no ink the slight scarring will still be visible.
- Dawnspire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That is the worst idea I have ever read
- Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Reminds of of Gob from Arrested Development, except he used paint=)
- guerrilla_suit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe they can make it not hurt while they are at it.
You could just draw on yourself with a sharpie. If it's not permanent it's just make-up anyway. - Prototek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4How do they know the tattoo won't fade in prolonged sunlight? Laser treatment is just concentrated light for a short period but the sun is still equally powerful over a long period of time.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reports like this pop up periodically, then fade away, and there is nothing on the market.
- pairanoyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As someone that has several tattoos, let me tell you, it doesn't feel like someone tickling you with a feather when you get it.
It's not what I would call a pleasant experience. If you're going to sit through the pain of getting one you might as well keep it forever. I got three of them while drinking. While I don't regret two of those three, I regret the placement I chose. One of those three, an ex GF's name, I regret. That was stupid. Don't get your girlfriend or wife's name tattooed on you, I guarantee you it will be trouble for you later in life. If you get any visible tatts make sure you can cover them if need be for work. I have some that you can't see unless I take my shirt off and that's fine, I have some that I would need to cover with long sleeves. People I work with know I was in the service and went to sea a long time ago and aren't bothered at all by the ones on my forearms. They're not offensive or anything. Some older folks do react to visible tatts with apprehension times are changing.
As for all that "tribal" ***** that everyone is getting, please, please stop. Those are so FN ugly and flat out retarded.
And ladies, please stop with the "ass antlers" I hate those.. - dmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone who uses this is a wimp and shouldnt be getting tattooed in the first place.
You want a tattoo for a magic act? I saw Penn and Teller do it on Letterman once. Don't use ink. The needle alone will create an outline of blood that will fade in a week or two. - TheRabbit84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2personally i think this is *****. when you get a tattoo you get something you know you are going to want on your body for the rest of your life. if you are one of these ***** who go out and get the tribal ***** on your lower back, or a fairy above your cootch because everyone else is doing it, then you should be stuck with that stupid ass tattoo and the regret of getting it for the rest of your life so it will remind you you're a dumbass. if you want something temporary check out henna, or grab some quarters and go hit up the machines outside the exit doors of walmart. a real tattoo is a small (or pretty large) work of art, that if you are going to go through the pain and dish out the cash to have it put on your body, then make sure its something you are going to be proud of, something you will be glad to have in your flesh for the rest of the short amount of time you have on this earth. if you want to get some cartoon character, ask yourself, are you still gonna like that when you're 50? if the answer is no, dont get the damn tattoo. otherwise you just spent a large amount of cash to get it, just to spend another larger amount of cash to get it removed. if you want a tattoo but fear the ramifications it might have on your job or whatever, get it somewhere it wont be visible all the time. simple as that.
this ink is a cop out for people who just want to do something that they think will make their friends think they are cool, but know they will regret it later. - iOsiris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This will be the end of funny accidental tattoos =(
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3As a magician, I could tattoo certain *permanant* revelations on my body. (e.g., a card or a name). Then later, I can get the tattoo removed and replace it with another card or name. Although I would be too much trouble for me, I am sure that some magicians would go for it. Some get paid thousands a gig.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4bumfights...........
- SnakeO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not according to Mr.Planck. Read up on your physics sir. Frequency != Intensity
- tightface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are two parts to the ink. The way the color is removed is by using a laser to 'unbond' the ink molecule from the carrier molecules. The ink will then be able to be washed away. There will still be the carrier molecules under your skin, but they are supposedly invisible to the eye.
- Lizlovesadam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish my ex would've known about this...
- HeapMalloc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I personally think that this defeats the purpose of getting a tattoo. Sure, I'd gather that there is a large portion of people currently tattooed that did so on an impulse, or after little consideration of what they're getting put on. For me, I've taken long consideration of what I want to get tattooed, and it has very personal meaning or represents an achievement in my life. So, I don't really give a damn what other people think of them. If I grow to regret them in 5 to 50 years down the road, then I'll still have a record of what meant a great deal to me at certain points in my life.
If a tramp stamp has great meaning to you, then by all means get it done. If you just want something pretty above your ass then don't get it done in the first place. - ryanwarnersteel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Cool idea, although anyone wanting a tattoo who is thinking about removal before they even get it needs to consider their actions... The fun and purpose for getting a tattoo is the fact that they are permanent. Removal will still be quite expensive, although cost shouldn't be an issue when deciding on body art.
Dunno, I'm just lukewarm to the whole idea.
HeapMalloc, I agree with you.
And DigitalBrian, I have never met an artist like that. Any tattoo artist who is in it for the money will produce ***** tats. - CaffeineAddict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just a matter of time before ink goes dynamic ... aka tattoo of a working wristwatch.
- Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember when people used to get tatoo's to show off their individuality?
But really, I'm in favor of permanent tatoos. That way, you can tell who the less intelligent people are just by looking. - dannighe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You need to meet some new artists then. Every single one I know deserves the term artist.
- Flamekebab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1By the same logic, I hate myself because I think the huge scars on my left arm are cool-looking. I got them from surgery after I broke my arm, but they still look awesome. If that looks cool, why is it a bad thing if they get to choose the design?
- dannighe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took me over a year to get the one that I have now, and I'm sure it will take about as long to choose the next one.
- RickHavoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have no tattoos. But erasable ink makes me less likely to get one because it detracts from the meaning of getting a tattoo. It's supposed to mean that you have no regrets. It can't represent that anymore if you can undo it. With erasable ink it'll take on a different meaning that has more to do with making a fashion statement.
- coremaster33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2true that. i've been considering one and if I knew I could get it done with this ink I'd be there now! obviously they'd still have the option of real permanent ink for all those who are "hard core" but for those of us who are like change this is perfect!
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@stuartcow: but if we had temporary ink then we could legalize it. health concerns and thin blood be damned! ;-) ... (since this is Digg I'll point out that I am joking)
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kevin rose probably dug this article in case of tattoo regret.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@cazoo: you are blowing this thing way out of proportion man. relax, take a breath, enjoy your day! merry christmas!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1With this...I would get a Tattoo in a second. VERY COOL! Thanks for the person who posted. Sorry to all of those people who have put the name of their girlfriend on them. I could Change the name of each girl every month LOL.
