- ophello, on 05/14/2009, -0/+16TED = Automatic Digg. TED is the new frontier of innovative thinking and I predict its effects on driving social change will be felt for generations to come.
- novenator, on 05/13/2009, -6/+19Condoms people. They are cheap and better than abstinence!

I highly recommend checking this place out. This is the website Hans Rosling helped create, free information for all is the goal behind it. - sayoshinn, on 05/14/2009, -4/+12AIDS is so 1990's
- TrouserJazz, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6The other Hans Rosling vids:

Highly recommended. Global poverty and the rise of the 'third world' is the theme, but his presentation of the stats is the main event. - MrScotchBoy, on 05/14/2009, -0/+6Interesting stats and speech.
- j0en, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5I've spent like five hours on that site trying to find crazy trends
- TrouserJazz, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3You spend a lot of time thinking about anal sex don't you?
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3What? I haven't watched the movie yet, but I would have to say that the 25 million people who have it in Africa would disagree with you.
- SandWraith, on 05/14/2009, -0/+4Awesome presentation and a really cool website-- I'd never heard of TED before but it just became one of my favorites. It's like free, good college lectures on whatever you want! Yay!
- Bluerayusa, on 05/14/2009, -2/+5Yeah. Get with the times man..... Swine Flu!!
- catachip, on 05/14/2009, -1/+4I think you, and whoever posted this, is confused about what they are actually talking about. The development of early polio virus vaccine occurred using kidney cells from certain monkeys. It was thought that these may have been contaminated with the SV40 virus, which can lead to cancer because of the oncogenes it carries. This has not been substantiated and large studies have never shown increased risk of cancer. The statement made in the video is out of context and meant to be an off-hand joke, as it is theorized that HIV came from Simian Immunodeficiency Virus when an infected monkey's blood contaminated a human - being related to how SV40 is a monkey virus that may have been in the polio vaccine.
Regardless of this all, the hundreds of millions of people who were saved by the polio vaccine pale in comparison to any increased cancer risk that may or may not exist. - anonymousmedic, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2[citation needed]
- jrod03, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3"It's this terrible simplification that there is one Africa, and things go on one way in Africa. We have to stop that. It's not respectful and it's not very clever."
Dugg. - misternils, on 05/14/2009, -0/+3Hans Rosling always has the best graphs I have ever seen, combined with his presentation of them especially.
- directedition, on 05/14/2009, -6/+9I dunno, pope tells me condoms are what cause HIV. That and gay people.... and women wearing pants.
- directedition, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2wow, has the advertising world turned to making random ***** comments on Digg?
- wastelander, on 05/14/2009, -1/+3Quite the showman, but I didn't really learn much.. I kept waiting for the "stunning data"..
- Amlethus, on 05/14/2009, -1/+3That man is an amazing speaker; I want to find more speeches of his now.
- Klinky, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Seeing how HIV/AIDS is blood transferable, it could have just as well been someone being attacked and/or killing a monkey with an exposed wound or cut that could have caused transmission.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2lol loved the wearing pants part.
- directedition, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1I dunno, "censored" or "hidden from the public" sounds a lot better than "Not a significant enough of a point to be worth keeping in the broadcast copy and left on the cutting room floor."
- lamejoketeller, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1dugg for ted
- Rwshilling, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Dugg for Ted and his awesome solidified laser beam.
First video in ages that I've seen about AIDs where it actually isn't all doom and gloom, and actually gives some more usable statistics to think about. So, Dugg because I learnt something too. - chubbstar, on 09/14/2009, -0/+1"mo money, mo HIV"
- renihan, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Anyone else notice that a huge portion of the HIV infections come from the Bible Belt in the states? hmmmm.....
- DyceFreak, on 05/14/2009, -3/+3or maybe find one clean girl you can bang for a while?
- falser, on 05/14/2009, -2/+2But how can this be used to stop the spread of Swine Flu?
- anonymousmedic, on 05/14/2009, -0/+0Shenanigans. Conspiracy Theories are fun, aren't they?
- spunalot, on 05/15/2009, -0/+0Anyone who thinks supression drugs for a deadly sexually transmitted disease is a good idea is an imbecile. If we would have let AIDs run its course the human race would be close to being rid of it.
- sleeknerve, on 05/14/2009, -1/+1Cancer is the new AIDS
- Scooby420nCA, on 05/24/2009, -0/+0Discourse is always welcome on this subject, though I can't help but offer criticism of the speaker's apparent willingness to accept at face value and with full faith the infection and transmission data provided either by, or at least from, some of these African countries to make his point(s).
Given the HUGE stigma attached to HIV and victims thereof, any enlightenment leading to diminishing the fear-out-of-ignorance society has regarding HIV is a positive step. Stigma = obvious motivation for people to lie about having it due to the near certainty of the negative reaction said persons shall suffer. - Justinv5, on 05/14/2009, -1/+0AIDS affects Americans from all regions. California and NY are high on the list, but so are Texas and Georgia.

Sex outside of the covenant of marriage leads to bad consequences. We can twist the facts however we want, but if we all followed the idea that sex is for a monogamous marriage, then sexually transmitted diseases wouldn't be an issue. - themastersb, on 05/14/2009, -3/+1Clearly, someone decided having sex with a monkey would be a good idea... not so much...
- hanexar, on 05/14/2009, -4/+3Please don't close the pool again.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edikv0zbAlU - Subduction, on 05/14/2009, -11/+2Please don't get me wrong -- I like the TED lectures and respect the people giving them, but do they really need to be every third ***** post on Digg, complete with a breathless summary about "holding the key to" yadayada "within our lifetime?"
I feel like someone has made it their mission to download the entire TED website onto Digg one article at a time. - dennisa31, on 05/14/2009, -9/+1I CAN HAS AIDS?
- dinglebutt, on 05/14/2009, -13/+4HIV
An idea worth spreading.
