- Fhionnlaoch, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ! My personality profile description is hardly flattering compared to the other ones:
"ISTP (Introverted thinking with sensing): These people are action-oriented and fearless, and crave excitement. They are impulsive and dangerous to stop. They often like tools, instruments, and weapons, and often become technical experts. They are not interested in communications and are often incorrectly diagnosed as dyslexic or hyperactive. They tend to do badly in school."
The description obviously fails to take into consideration my overreaching paranoia, but I do like instruments and weapons. :P - jinglee, on 10/12/2007, -13/+0Myers Briggs has been existant for years..Wonder how people dugg this to the top!
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm right there with you as an ISTP.
I've taken this before and it really helps me be at ease with my self. Especially the part about how ISTP's tend to not do well in school. They don't see the point in school and school tends to not be an accurate measure of there actual intelligence. - MrStabby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Playful and fun-loving, the Performer' primary social interest lies in stimulating those around them, arousing their senses and their pleasureful emotions-charming them, in a sense, to cast off their concerns and "lighten up." Representing about ten per cent of the general population"

- sinurgy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Personally I find the Keirsey Temperamant Sorter to be more accurate as it focuses more on peoples actual behavior.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keirsey_Temperament_Sorter#Myers-Briggs_Types_versus_Keirsey.27s_Temperaments - LordSamu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ISTP as well.
- Jemulov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ENTP: I used to be an ESTP for a while but I guess when you get older you can answer those sort of questions much more readily. I think with a lot of people Diggers in general, except for a select few (there I go being unbiased around people no matter the consequence) are somewhat in between Introverted and Extroverted.
I think I'll call myself Bitrovetred.
- Fhionnlaoch, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ! My personality profile description is hardly flattering compared to the other ones:
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Myers-Briggs is pretty legit. It's been around for years and backed by research. This isn't some myspace link.
- PilotPrecise, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20Sorry, but there's quite a volume of well-supported and reasoned skepticism for the Meyers-Briggs model.
But whatever floats people's boats... People are comforted by personality metrics - even if they're based on faulty Jungian models - to make sense of the world, it's population, and their place in it.
Ultimately these kinds of psuedoscientific typologies appeal to the same sense of validation that convinces people their fortune cookie is a window into their soul.
"You are easily influenced by what you read and have the ability to make vague sentences somehow relevant to your own existence." - schnitzi, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1Hear, hear. This is astrology with a faux scientific backing. People will think that any vague statement that's remotely complimentary applies to them. What's weird is that sometimes when people take the test they say things afterwards like, "Huh, I thought I was an introvert, but it turns out I'm an extrovert!" Like the test knows more about them then they know themselves.
- Tychotesla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I'm as anti-Astrology as anyone can be... but this isn't quite the same thing as Astrology. Astrology is absolutely unconnected to your data: on average any horoscope will fit you as well as it does anyone else.
The Myers-Briggs test is a little different, because it tries to measure things like shyness or intuitiveness (which exist), and then says: "our measurements show you here". That's not false or irrelevant data, it's just a simplification. In many cases it's an oversimplification. So yeah, you shouldn't place too much faith in it. But no, it's not the same as Astrology.
I'm INTJ, which describes my personality more than most other letter combinations do. - gboodhoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9actually Jung's usage of the terms "introvert" & "extravert" is quite precise. Much more so than common usage would suggest. Before writing the man off, consider that he was not only a theoretician but an experimentalist. He didn't simply "make stuff up" cuz he liked the sound of it, its based on years of (documented) experiences and case studies. Quite frankly he was an intellectual giant and a far more rigorous and deeper thinker than is likely to be found on Digg
except me, of course ;) - Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I felt a desire to answer most of the questions, "Well, yes and no." Most of the answers for me depended on the specific case / example / perspective.
For example, "You are consistent in your habits." In some ways, I'm very consistent. In others, I'm purposely random.
"Your decisions are based more on the feelings of a moment than on the careful planning." Certainly both yes and no.
"Your desk, workbench etc. is usually neat and orderly" Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Depends on which work area you are talking about.
Anyway, I came out: Extroverted 1% Intuitive 62% Feeling 38% Judging 33%, but I intuitively feel that this score is crap. - iandravid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Au contraire, while I am ok with the testing, I read that Jung was the kinda guy who hated statistics. Who thought statistics can prove whatever you want it to prove. So the basis for the Jungian descriptions were not so much based on experimental data.
INTP here. - phronko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This also isn't the Myers-Briggs. This is some shortened version. I couldn't find any information on tests of its reliability or validity. So, really, even if the Myers-Briggs categorizations are completely legit, you're probably not getting any real measure of them with this dumbed-down online test.
- PilotPrecise, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20Sorry, but there's quite a volume of well-supported and reasoned skepticism for the Meyers-Briggs model.
- othersomethings, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19That described me better than I could have. Creepy. Now if only it was accompanied by a free therapist...
- TwilightKing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Yeah, Myers-Briggs is cool. Once you know your type, find a page about type compatibility. It's so dead on it's scary.
- Arcan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4As I'm sure your horoscope will be most often. Myers-Briggs is only slightly more accurate. Research the descriptions of all of the types - I'm sure you'll find parts of each that apply to you. It's the same "remember the hits" principle that Mediums operate on.
Don't look to a test to define you. I've received a different "personality" label every time I've taken the test - literally. - chikkychappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I do not know about you or other people, neither will I claim that MBTI is scientific, but I do not think it should be lumped together with horoscope and astrology. The latter two are "right" (i.e., one intepretation is apparent to me immediately and I need not dissect the events in a day just to find a connection) for me 5% of the time and usually, the connection is superficial. But MBTI, as it appeared to me, is completely different.
See, the first time I took the test I got INTJ. I then read the description; At first, I thought the first sentences vaguely resemble me, but when I reached the middle and shook my head, realizing that those "vague resemblances" I somewhat forced. I concluded that this type thing is just a collection statements that hits a chord here and there, not because of its validity but rather, to its over generalization. But out of curiosity anyway, I read other descriptions. When I reached INTP, I believed. The description is not only dead-on in nearly/all, I also "felt" it. It described me far more accurately than any other personality test and in fact, it put into words what has been hovering in my mind for sometime and also those that have not, but make perfect sense anyway.
Hence, I say that MBTI may not be scientifically accurate or backed by science, and the process of testing (as inmy case) does not always yield the nearest results, but I believe that still has something in it of value, which is more than I can say for other personality tests.
- Robozilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow.... that was shockingly accurate. It even made me feel better about myself. Very awesome, I've taken personality tests before, but this one rocks.
I wonder if digg users are similar, I bet they are.- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+311% introverted 25% intuitive ... i forget the rest

- sachmanb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4intp
- Scagli3tti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5INFJ. The description was frighteningly accurate (and no, after reading some of the other descriptions, it was not one of those horoscope/fortune cookie deals).
- Tychotesla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A year and a half ago I was INTJ, now I'm INTP.
- funstuph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Myers-Briggs can be influenced by recent or current events that may be impacting your mood or behaviour. It is not unusual to see a change in one of the categories, however, a completely polar opposite across categories would be extremely a-typical and would suggest that you had completed the questionnaire under the influence of a Class-A narcotic. :)
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5intp
they should give this test to high schoolers, and base programs for learning from the results. - bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ESFJ, unlike anyone else here who posted ;D
- Macuyiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4INTJ too here, the description seems to be correct.

Hardcore MBPT believer. - sorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Heh, one of the descriptions i read said that my type makes up around 2% of the population.. i've only found one other digger this far down that is the same type;congrats, Scagli3tti we're obviously the chosen ones ;)

You, me, and the other less than 1% of the population that are INTJ rock. - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, INTJ here too.
The 2 pages it links you to describing it is disturbingly accurate (Only off on a few things). :x - chabs39, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Me too :). The description is deadon too, my best friends and myself couldn't have described my personality as accurately as that did.
- xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1INTJ...wow....dead on... for both pros and cons.

- ACityInOhio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Most recently, I'm an ENTJ. I took the test nearly eight years ago, and received a somewhat different type: INFJ. It's amazing what a couple years of high school and college can do to your personality--if any of you are in high school now, take it now, remember your type, and then come back many years later. You'll be surprised...
Unless, of course, you don't think any of the sixteen M-B personality types describe you. If that's the case, then you should probably get some kind of help--I'm not an expert or anything, but I'm fairly certain that if you're off the charts of the mighty M-B indicator, you are either a psychopath or a communist - arctic, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Old.

- Poland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well come come now, we are large group of technology interested individuals.
- Daunting, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This freakin' described me perfectly. I've always heard of Carl Jung's stuff inadvertently come across Carl Jung's work, but never seen a comprehensive test of his. I'm going to look into this.
- ssulistyo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's important to note that MBTIs do not have to be completely fixed. Often we exhibit different characteristics and personalities, depending on the situation. It is also quite possible to change certain aspects of your personality type, either willingly or by experience.
I, for example, used to be a strong INTP, which many consider to be one of the archetypical geek personality. However, through life experiences and a change in focus, I have become much more extroverted and assertive, while I still consider the INTP to be at my core. Unsurprisingly, this test here rated me as a ENTJ now. - freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I always flip between INTJ and INTP. I would say that I have some sort of Tyler Durden thing going on, except that both types just sit around and think about stuff. It's more like a Peter Parker/Bruce Banner complex. Sad, even my neuroses are geeks.
- spacecadette, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Don't you think Tyler Durden was the comlete opposite of the narrator? Your opposite would be ESFJ or ESFP.
- nubnub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ISTP (Introverted thinking with sensing): These people are action-oriented and fearless, and crave excitement. They are impulsive and dangerous to stop. They often like tools, instruments, and weapons, and often become technical experts. They are not interested in communications and are often incorrectly diagnosed as dyslexic or hyperactive. They tend to do badly in school.
pfft I do good in school- Swimming_Bird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5nice to see that you do _good_ in school
- Neme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ENTJ.
Before having started university I would certainly have scored an introvert score, though. - Atmandk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm actually quite interested in Jungian psychology, but this test seems kind of *****. I actually couldn't get past even the first question - and then as I looked at the rest, I realized I couldn't honestly answer any of the questions. Are people that easily able to classify themselves? I don't think I'm that much more complex than the average person, but come on, as "a rule" I can't say that I worry more about current preoccupations than future plans. More than anything, this test just proves to me that quantitative methodology in the social sciences simply fails to capture anything useful about what it means to be human. My problem is not with Jungian psychology, but with the Myers-Briggs measurement of Jungian concepts. It seems obvious from some of these comments that people get some type of self-satisfaction out of their MB classifications - perhaps that says more about human psychology than the classifications themselves.
- ffttoteof, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I agree. Most of these questions are so black-and-white that it's impossible to give a "Yes" or "No" that'd apply in all situations. I had to take this test back in school and also found it impossible to answer almost all the questions. When I told the teacher this, and that I thought the test wasn't very good, I thought they'd have no problem with me opting out, that I'd still get the point of whatever class exercise they were doing by discussing the results of the test afterwards. But they said I had to complete the test. So I just chose a bunch of answers randomly.
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A lot of the questions overlap each other, over the span of 70+ questions it's pretty damn accurate.
Think of it as a bar with a ring, and it slides back and forth based on your answer's, and it hones in on just the right spot eventually. So where you answere No for one similiar to another where you answere yes, you get a maybe! And the degrees of maybe are dictated by all those varying extremes. So it's not ACTUALLY just "black and white." Just because YOU disagree doesn't mean years of research is incorrect or has been proven wrong. There's obviously a reason for it, so instead of complaining do some research, then argue after you have something to argue with.
Thanks.

I guess everybody is pretty different... yet we all like digg. That's cool. - bg2500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6INTP. According to this poll www.snappoll.com/view_results.php?poll_id=153402 most diggers are either INTJ or INTP. This test was on Digg a while back and I bookmarked the results of a poll that someone had setup in response to it.
Whoever posted the poll in the last thread (or if someone wants to make a new one), it would be interesting if you setup another one to see what kind of consistency there is among digg user's personality's. (My result is the same as the last time.)- adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6And of course, leave it to an INTP to think of quantifying the results from a Digg thread to get pseudo scientific data.
I should know. I got the same idea and I am also an INTP. :-P - jspWoof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Another INTP checking in.
FYI, the online tests I've seen are pretty quick & dirty and may not be that accurate. HOWEVER... many years ago as a part of a ***** "team-building exercise" I took the full-blown (couple of hundred questions) survey with official MB scoring, and that came out INTP as well. - safetyseal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just one more INTP checking, man we are all over digg.
- adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6And of course, leave it to an INTP to think of quantifying the results from a Digg thread to get pseudo scientific data.

- MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Welcome to the Internet. Everybody that has StumbleUpon installed knows about this test already.
- RonaldLewis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, at the website, I took the test twice and scored as an INFJ. All I can say is that many points were relevant.
However, on http://similarminds.com/myers-briggs-jung.html, I ranked as an ESFP -- whether any of these accurate is beyond me. Right now, I'm kinda sticking with the INFJ, but can also say that others apply as well (leadership, entertainer, etc.) - samgab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow, I'm either a WTF or a LMAO... Not too sure though.
- unruled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4INFJ here
- NanoDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Certainly not the way the MBTI should be administered.
The MBTI is a very powerful instrument when it's used well. Is it perfect? of course not. Are the questions very close together and sometimes hard to choose? Yes, that's the point, it's an indicator of psychological preferences, it doesn't mean you don't have skill sets outside of your "type" just that your preference is a certain way. - dissident, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2INTJ here... - Funguar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yet another INTJ here.
- netfreighter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Until taking this test and finding out that I belong to a personality TYPE, I used to think I had more like a disorder :)
Now I find out that I am an INTJ and belong to 1% of the population. And all of a sudden all members of that minority show up here on digg!
Now how cool is that?
Thanks for the link, the description fit 100% in my case. Every trait that my few friends tried to describe and tolerate as if it were some infirmity, every feature is right there on the list.
