- pandaxrage, on 03/23/2009, -4/+60Article not applicable to 90% of Digg users.
- Intrusionv2, on 03/23/2009, -3/+46Why do I have a feeling this is only getting Dugg for the thumbnail?
- ismschisms, on 03/23/2009, -4/+41***** push-ups.
- borez, on 03/23/2009, -12/+46Why the ***** is this on the front page?

No. 1: Walking
Why it's a winner: You can walk anywhere, anytime, either on a treadmill or with no equipment other than a good pair of shoes.
How to: Beginners should start by walking five to 10 minutes at a time, gradually moving up to at least 30 minutes per session. As you progress, lengthen the time of your walks before boosting your speed or incline.
No. 2: Interval Training
Why it's a winner: Adding interval training to your cardio workout can boost fitness, burn more calories, and help you lose weight. The basic idea: Vary the intensity of your aerobic workout to challenge your body instead of loafing in your comfort zone.
How to: Push up the pace for a minute or two, then back off for 2-10 minutes, depending on the length of your workout and how much time you need to recover. Do this throughout the workout.
No. 3: Squats
Why it's a winner: Squats work multiple muscle groups — the quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteals — at the same time.
How to: Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and your back straight. Bend your knees and lower your rear as if you were sitting down in a chair, keeping your knees over your ankles.
No. 4: Lunges
Why it's a winner: Like squats, lunges work all the major muscles of the lower body. Lunges also help improve your balance.
How to do it: Take a big step forward, keeping your spine straight. Bend your front knee to approximately 90 degrees. Keep weight on your back toes and drop the back knee toward the floor — but don't let it touch the floor.
No. 5: Push-ups
Why it's a winner: Push-ups strengthen the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core muscles.
How to: Face-down, place hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Place toes or knees on the floor, creating a smooth line with your body, from shoulders to knees or feet. Keeping rear-end muscles and abdominals engaged, lower and lift your body by bending and straightening your elbows, keeping your torso stable throughout the move.
No. 6: Abdominal Crunches – Method A
Begin by lying on your back with feet flat on the floor and palms supporting your head. Press your low back down. Contract abdominals and raise first your head (tucking your chin slightly), then your neck, shoulders, and upper back off the floor.
No. 7: Bent-Over Row
Why it's a winner: The bent-over row works all the major muscles of the upper back, as well as the biceps.
How to: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, bend knees, and flex forward at the hips, then engage the abdominals and extend spine to add support. Hold weights beneath the shoulders with hands shoulder-width apart. Flex elbows and lift both hands toward the sides of body. Pause, then slowly lower hands to the starting position. - Ranferi, on 03/23/2009, -8/+31***** you
- drmangrum, on 03/23/2009, -1/+22For the push-ups, if you want to really burn, do them military basic training style.
1) Slow
2) Pause midway down for a 5 count
3) Pause for a 5 count at the bottom
4) Pause again at midway up.
5) Never let your chest or stomach touch the floor. Each push up should take 15-20 seconds. - GhostInAShell, on 03/23/2009, -1/+17Even better than this Most Effective Exercises article is the Least Effective Exercises article that follows if you click through the slideshow.
I hate seeing people do behind the back lat pulldowns or military presses in the gym. - Snoosy, on 03/23/2009, -1/+16Needs more deadlifts.
- GunWraith, on 03/23/2009, -2/+16Bah! Exercising is for n00bs who don't have a lvl 80 paladin and a strict raid schedule!
- haastyle, on 03/23/2009, -1/+13damn that girl has some MEATY legs...look at #6....hamstring is hugeeeeee
- bajesus, on 03/23/2009, -0/+10Unless masturbating to it is an application
- azey47, on 03/23/2009, -3/+13the squat form they advocate is atrocious. look at mark rippetoe's "starting strength" book or videos and you'll see the problem.
also they need to include deadlifts, power cleans, and some gymnastic progressions for abs.
terrible article. - irishjays, on 03/23/2009, -0/+7I just thought about exercise, must count for something
- geesamba, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6Precisely. You only need to disable the security system once.
- Gouldie, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7One is all you need
- ligyron, on 03/23/2009, -2/+7So you're saying 90% of diggers are already in shape? I think it's very applicable
- Pillar007, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Because we nerds need to apply our cunning to more than making witty comments on the internet. Go to the gym, you will feel good, i promise.
- ligyron, on 03/23/2009, -1/+6Alright...what are you trying to say? It's not applicable because:
1) 90% of diggers refuse to exercise? What makes you think that?
2) 90% are overweight and out of shape? Then don't you think they SHOULD find this article applicable?
3) 90% are already in shape so don't need this article? That's very nice of you
4) 90% are male and you think this article is only applicable to females? - Brandynp, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Oops, I dug by accident.
- eviljolly, on 03/23/2009, -2/+6Woo hoo. I always wanted to be part of a minority!
- Namakemono, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4I think most diggers are doing *****-curls.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -1/+4Actually I think it is one of the most effective; you havn't stated what you think the most effective is?
- Intertron, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3spam that holy light
- antistupid, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3+1 for emphasizing squats and interval training
wish they would have gone into detail but I guess this is good for beginners - Destinatus, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3I'd rather come in your face bitch, ***** off.
- cyrix, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Hmmm how many push ups can you do?
- Chompy, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3http://www.scoobysworkshop.com
Dude isn't selling anything, but he has a lot of stuff on youtube on proper form, nutrition, etc. It's really helped me out. Granted, many of the videos are corny as hell, but the information is solid. - inactive, on 03/23/2009, -1/+4because it gives diggers hop of having a CnK type models body. Little do they know that tomorrow morning the first attempt itself will demolition their moral and most other body parts.
- MatthewDuke, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3That girl is not even close to a one fapper.
- gortface, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3I like exercising
- pbjorge12, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3I logged in just to digg that. +1 for being educated.
- emildorbell, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Hah, I came here to comment on how retarded that was. With proper form behind the back military presses are a great addition to a shoulder workout. Of course, if you don't have proper form it can hurt you, but that applies to ALL exercises.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3fap...
- dschmink, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2Glad to see some health news on digg but this article isn't that great. The 9 least effective exercises was better.
Glad they mentioned intervals, as those are 6.4 times more effective in burning fat than traditional cardio.
+1 for squats, bent rows, lunges, pushups.
Crunches however will never and have never gotten anyone a good core, only slightly stronger rectus abdominus. If you really want to build up a strong abdominal region stick to the basics: planks, hanging leg/knee raises, lying hip thrusts, and variations on the plank using a stability ball. - Biird, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3Buried for a whole lot of bad information and terrible exercise technique.
"No. 3: Squats
Why it's a winner: Squats work multiple muscle groups — the quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteals — at the same time."
Not THOSE 'squats'! - skunk3gr33n1, on 03/23/2009, -2/+4Thank you very much, I saw that it was a slide show, and I closed it immediately.
- 1hrSleep, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2Eh, why go to the gym when you can do things without paying a high price every month?
- junioratoms, on 03/23/2009, -2/+4Why the ***** is this on digg. Getting strength and conditioning advice from WebMD is equivalent to getting computer hardware advice from goodhousekeeping.com. *****.
- logic11, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2He said BACK lat pulldowns and military presses. The term back is very important there.
- j0hnglist, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2the captain's chair is much more effective. the standard crunch is ok but it takes supersets of different ab exercises to get results much faster. You have to hit the abs in different ways. I see people doing 100 standard crunches and their abs don't get much better. I definitely got results once I switched up my routine. Captain's Chair, crunches on the ball (not the floor), leg lifts, etc in supersets for best results.
- dschmink, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3Crossfit is dangerous for anyone but people who are intermediate, going into advanced conditioning levels.
Everyone else just gets injured. - tyler42, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2This is an example of the quality articles we get to see on digg nowadays? pathetic...
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2No, Hillary Clinton, man. Bill Clinton's hot milf
- MatthewDuke, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1She could crack coconuts with her legs!
- apetrie, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1If you aren't capable of doing push ups when you first start, does anyone have any tips on how to build up to it? Is it just a matter of other exercises to build up the arms and shoulders until you can, or is there a proper way to adjust push ups for ease without making them totally ineffective?
Edit: Guess I should have clicked to the next slide. I'd still welcome any other advice.. - rahulrark, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1I guess most of the Digg users are excited about this article as they may not be fit , otherwise it isnt that good article
- boomchockalocka, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1No. 9 has a bigger basket than me.
- fishshogun, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1Most effective exercise is not a slide show.
- drmangrum, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1I take it you've never been to basic training. That only happens in Full Metal Jacket.
