- shaung75, on 10/02/2008, -0/+0It's all going to be about personal preference and how you want to get about. Wheelchairs are more convenient if you'll be going places in a car as they fold up easily, however, if you just want to pop into town then a scooter would be the way to go.
As for the right one, again it all depends on what you want to use it for. If its just for getting around in then go for one of the basic models, but for shopping you can buy scooters with baskets etc. Obviously the bigger they are the more expensive.
Maintanence is no problem, where you buy it from should be able to help you out with that side of things. Battery would be the main item, but that'll only be every couple of years or so.
Insurance isn't a bad idea, but if you're only going to by the basic model you'll find that you'll probably be spending a lot on the policy compared to the price of the scooter.
We got my grans (Rascal) from www.factoryoutletscooters.co.uk and she seems happy with it. I'm pretty certain she hasn't got insurance for it, but have a look around on Google and there's a fair few places out there that can offer it.
