- HCviolence, on 04/06/2009, -1/+40Actually I own the movie but it still doesn't change the fact that my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.
- lolwutpear, on 04/05/2009, -4/+36If you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake, and I have a straw...
- burketo, on 04/05/2009, -0/+24One of the things they do in some psych hospitals for people with Anorexia Nervosa is stick a variety of your usual chocolate bars on the table and tell them they have to eat one. I remember being told about this by a sufferer. It brings it home for me how far out of my understanding that illness is. I mean that sounds like a briliant proposition to me, but to them it is a particularly hellish experience.
- OneNaturalOne, on 04/06/2009, -0/+19I drink anorexic's milkshakes! I drink them up!
- cowie, on 04/05/2009, -4/+23lard injected celery sticks are still the way to go.
- aimeemw, on 04/05/2009, -0/+18A common sense approach that should probably be employed when the first signs of an eating disorder emerge.
- alexhouse, on 04/06/2009, -3/+19Groundbreaking new treatment for anorexia! "Feed" them!
Amazing. - HCviolence, on 04/06/2009, -4/+19My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.
- OneNaturalOne, on 04/06/2009, -1/+15I am currently on a preventative regimen of 3 milkshakes a day to make sure I don't get anorexia.
Remember folks, prevention is the best cure. - drunkirish, on 04/06/2009, -0/+11I'm assuming you don't know that my milk is better than yours.

http://www.junkfoodnews.net/largestmilkshake.jpg - mattwalton56, on 04/06/2009, -0/+10I am a teenager who is underweight (6' 4", 130lbs) and was told the same thing by my doctor. I'm not anorexic, but need to gain 20lbs to be at the healthy-minimum.
'Just means I get to eat(drink?) milkshakes more often. :) - bassman12593, on 04/06/2009, -0/+10Under allergy data:
There are baskin robbins products with crustaceans?
*****'s ***** up. - jeremymccurdy, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6As someone who's dealt with a person with anorexia, force feeding them isn't really going to cure anything. People with eating disorders get awfully damn sneaky at finding ways to either lower caloric intake or purge. At least this article is recommending that the family takes an active role in the person getting better rather than just sticking them in an eating disorder clinic where they'll learn every trick of the trade.
- vulpescry, on 04/06/2009, -3/+9I'm assuming you haven't seen "There Will be Blood."
- 12916studios, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6When I was underweight a few years ago (not because of a disorder, for the record) this is how I was told to gain weight. I made my own chocolate milkshakes every day, and over time started to get meat on my bones.
It really is quite a lovely thing to have your doctor prescribe you chocolate milkshakes. - dexter411, on 04/06/2009, -4/+10Different kind of anorexia, idiot.

OHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE SAY YES - Greengoo, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6I DRINK IT UP
- FDDIcent, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5I was skinny when i was young and my mom gave me the same treatment. hard to complain about getting to drink a large milkshake everyday
- pradaaddict, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5No you would avoid it! Anorexia is a mental condition where the person is obsessed with avoiding high fat/high caloric value food. A milkshake would be the last thing you would want.
- pikelet, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4Hah, this article makes it sound so easy.
I had a similar treatment when I had an eating disorder. I didn't have anorexia nervosa though, I just got labeled as ED-NOS (not otherwise specified). I had no body image issues and no preoccupation with what starving myself was doing to my body. I just could not eat. There was no physical cause, I had every test under the sun and more. It was mental and probably due to stress or something, as it eventually disappeared as my life got better.
The sight of food made me physically and mentally repulsed. Putting food in my mouth was a horrible experience - it was like every fibre of my being was telling me not to. If you've ever had that feeling when you've gotten so hungry and haven't had access to food that you feel nauseous and you don't want to eat despite being hungry, that was how I felt all the time. I could barely bring myself to even chew food, let alone swallow it. What I did eat was bland. I lived on dry crackers, pieces of wholemeal bread and if I could stomach it, maybe a few slices of an apple. This is not a good thing. I was constantly weak, fainted a few times, and was probably sent home from school once a week.
Every morning, first thing, my parents gave me one of those 'liquid meal' things - like a milkshake, but with supposedly all your nutrient and calorie needs. It would take me about an hour of gagging, feeling nauseous, pleading, protesting and sometimes even crying. I think on a good day, I would get about half of it down and could just not take any more.
Anyway, the point - you gotta make them drink it first. Good luck. - kkashx, on 04/06/2009, -3/+7Weed is medicine for anorexic teens.
- Shmebber, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4Ha, American Dad = Best show ever.
- kokoshka, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4It's called "no milkshake".
- bagelmaster, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4I think this video will help us all get along
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hXJMFW25nY - inactive, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3God knows my absolute favorite thing to eat from age 15-20 was an Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Cookie dough was good too. =P
Oh yeah and I was a little on the scrawny side. Not any more though, heh heh heh. - jeremymccurdy, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3Well you can beat the disorder out of someone as well as you can beat AIDS out of a person, if you can do that, then all the power to ya.
And yeah, the immediate concern is managing to keep the person fed well enough that they can function, afterward there's psychological help and family support, there really isn't a cure for anorexia(REAL anorexia anyway, not those scwabbling teenage kids who claim to have an eating disorder just for the attention), it's something that is basically a lifelong battle for anyone that has it, much like most other psychiatric disorders. - Shmebber, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3So wait, we're supposed to just let anorexics starve to death? Gee, why did no one propose this earlier?
- hollybermudez, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3none of you clearly know anything about eating disorders. at the age of 14 my younger sister was diagnosed with anorexia. she was 5 feet tall and weighed 52 pounds, it was one of the most depressing things i've ever seen in my life. she was sent to a rehabilitation hospital in Tulsa, OK, where I learned a lot about the disease. It is a mental illness, people with anorexia don't not eat because they don't want to, they don't eat because they are scared of food and it is a mental problem. it is not as simple as saying drink this milkshake. it is working past a mental block that makes you not want to eat. my sister had to be fed through a feeding tube and go through months of therapy, it took a lot of time but she is 18 and healthy, she still has to see therapists and deal with her anxiety. but it is not as simple as just saying drink a milkshake and eat mac n cheese it'll cure your problems, its much more than that.
- stupidfilters, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2because if you used any more fat, it wouldn't be a liquid.
- Zap2, on 04/06/2009, -1/+3eh, its good...but i don't think the best

- sanskrtam, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2Muchies... definitely helps one's appetite.
- NeonDistraction, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2It sounds as though you think Anorexia is a physical disorder.
- NeonDistraction, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2Special milkshake for the obese? Yeah, it's called a glass of water. That'll be $2.95.
I'm not sure I could see anorexic teens being as less troublesome than obese teens. Granted, obesity is affecting a far greater number of teens than anorexia, but anorexia is more dangerous. Being obese will undoubtedly cause significant health problems down the road and significantly shorten your lifespan, but untreated anorexia will kill you much quicker. It's also a much more serious mental disorder. Over-eating is common because it's so easy to do and our bodies are still programmed to store fat for insulation. But starving yourself involves overriding the strongest and most basic instinct we have... that's a lot harder to fix. - aimeemw, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2We never professed that to be case lhh.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2I Know! and one of those things people refer to as LIQUID FOOD too!
I wish I came up with ideas like this! - Zap2, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2agreed...this isn't a long term solution, but keeping them alive is key while you deal with the root issue
- NeonDistraction, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2You are a moron.
- seattlescott0, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1I love the first listed ingredient. Reduced fat milk. It's like why bother when shoot for three days worth of saturated fat.
- Jayzgame, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1I've abandoned my boy!!!!!
- Greengoo, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1My girlfriend has experienced really really bad weight loss from chemo and associated issues. I literally just bookmarked this so I can go find a BR and have her try one of these. You have no idea how hard it is to gain weight when you have cancer, even with nutritionist assistance.
- SpoonMSU, on 04/06/2009, -1/+2As an avid connoisseur of milkshakes, I can proudly proclaim the following:
I BEAT ANOREXIA - gratefuldutch, on 04/06/2009, -1/+2Sounds like a great way to turn anorexia into bulimia.
- Meatloaf42, on 04/06/2009, -1/+2RENO, NEVADA - A young teen girl suffering from anorexia was enjoying a vanilla milkshake with her father when suddenly a strange disheveled man burst into the Red Robin where they were dining, withdrew a large straw from his pocket, and exclaimed loudly, "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE". He then proceeded to drink the young girl's milkshake, with his own straw, while the rest of Red Robin silently watched him. He then turned away, and calmly walked towards the door, but not before bludgeoning an innocent young boy playing Hydro Thunder to death with a bowling pin, produced presumably from his other pocket. Police are currently investigating the matter.
