- muxaulo, on 04/30/2009, -1/+26This shocks me to tears, an old war veteran from Australia is in a home for the elderly, which, is overrun by mice and as such, this war veteran has been chewed upon by said mice! They have chewed his ears for ***** sake, is this how we treat old people nowadays?
- inactive, on 04/30/2009, -1/+15Owners and workers a like should be held accountable for allowing this to happen.
- stix213, on 05/01/2009, -0/+12"Federal Ageing Minister Justine Elliott said she was disturbed by the report of the elderly man's ordeal, but there was no need to evacuate residents at the home."
Excuse me, but at what level does it actually become necessary to evacuate residents from the home? - almj, on 05/01/2009, -2/+13"There was Jerry all over the place!"
- socialpyramid, on 05/01/2009, -0/+9My great uncle was bitten by a spider when he was in a nursing home. He suffered from dementia, and apparently none of the caregivers noticed the bite, so it wasn't treated. Over time his finger rotted off as a result.
- sockpuppets, on 05/01/2009, -5/+14Maybe he tastes like cheese.
- sockpuppets, on 05/01/2009, -0/+9When the mice become self aware.
- pintomp3, on 05/01/2009, -1/+9Can't wait to see you in 60 years.
- upick, on 04/30/2009, -1/+9I heard about this on the radio, I was pretty shocked, damn the guy was being bitten alive and bleeding everywhere
- OneOfNone, on 05/01/2009, -0/+8@youri: Thinking of yourself as a rebel, while typing the most ancient and unoriginal tripe? Painting with the brush as wide as 1/3 of humanity, then getting all pissy when painted with a smaller broad brush? Burying the opposing comments, then bitching about being nice with opposing viewpoints?
Should I have gone with "hypocritical troll is hypocritical", or "oblivious troll is oblivious"? - sonofabiscuit, on 05/01/2009, -0/+7I don't think "allowed" is a good word to use for this situation. Negligence is more like it.
- minimusmaximus, on 04/30/2009, -1/+8Disgusting, the home needs to be burned to the ground.
- that1bander, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6I fought in the nursing home wars...
- sockpuppets, on 05/01/2009, -2/+8Take out the delicious old people first, or the mice might think it's a barbecue.
- OneOfNone, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6This particular view is not only unoriginal, it shows a profound lack of thinking (anything) through. Let's discuss just a few problems:
1. Young people are even bigger problem than old (same issues, plus destructive potential, minus useful experience). Dumb, unproductive, drain on resources. Yet you conveniently missed this side of the issue. Oblivious to your own faults, are you?
2. Do you plan to leave the building before growing old? If yes, you may have a say about the "problem"; otherwise, it is pure hypocrisy. Oblivious and hypocritical, then.
3. Old people created not only the problems, but the wealth that mitigates and outweighs them. They are thus entitled to the fruits of their labor, and you are not. See the entitlement issue here? The total comes up to "oblivious, hypocritical parasite".
4. You live by their grace, but you are not willing to show them the same.
Let's finish here with "oblivious, hypocritical and ungrateful parasite". I really hoped you were just a troll, you know. - tsotha, on 05/01/2009, -0/+6"But the bureaucrats said no sprays this year because it uses agricultural chemicals, and that's not allowed to happen at a health facility,''
Why does it seem if you dig deep enough there's always a faceless bureaucrat behind the problem. - thcobbs, on 05/01/2009, -1/+7/me hopes youri is a really BAD ***** troll.
- 8fans, on 05/01/2009, -0/+5Somebody please donate a cat.
- AFHeretic, on 05/01/2009, -1/+5I smell a lawsuit.
And cheese. om nom nom - dlan4327, on 05/01/2009, -0/+4They already are. Haven't you read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?
Earth was built for the mice. - inactive, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3Stay classy, Aussie mice.
- OneOfNone, on 05/01/2009, -1/+4Stereotyping troll is stereotypical.
- Hellahulla, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3There's humour in everything :)
- Karmashock, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3Another veteran hospital that's worse then most third world hospitals.
I don't know what's going on in Australia, but in the US they should all be closed and the veterans should just be sent to NORMAL hospitals. There's no reason to maintain a secondary health service just for war veterans. It's not in anyone's interest. It's more expensive, provides worse care, and is difficult to manage. Just send them to normal hospitals that are clean, have the same quality doctors that the rest of the population is used to and end this world war relic. - squafro, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3The article doesn't mention it, but he was discovered in that state on ANZAC day, the day we Aussies are supposed to remember the sacrifices our veterans made.
Bloody disgraceful - alex7575, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2I buried your comment for joking about this situation, but dugg you twice because that was just too ***** funny, and I now hate you (and myself) for that...
- w1cked1, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2aaaasskk not what your country can do foryouu.... but what you can do for your country...
nnnnope, that seems to have lost the romance - mrpunman, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2Where's Tom when we need him!
- LibertyPrime, on 05/01/2009, -1/+2They might eat the cat.
- Hellahulla, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1Maybe the old man knows the ultimate question to the ultimate answer?
They were probably trying to get to his brain. - iPerphekt, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1It must be late...
When I first read this title, I thought it was referring to a veteran of a nursing home war. - whoreable, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1"They are now baiting twice a day but it's too late.''.
GO AWAY!! BAITIN !! - dtele, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1BETTER copy with video etc here:
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,27574,2 ... - dioland, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1how the heck does something like THAT happen?
- jmp120, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1While this is absolutely horrible, the title the writer chose makes it sound like this man was a veteran from a war between nursing homes. I can't believe this article passed editing.
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -1/+1ROFL!
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -2/+1it's gonna suck in the next 20 years. so many boomers gonna end up like this. who's gonna take care of them. YOU? ME? their retirement is destroyed thanks to the investment bloodsucker bankers.
- inactive, on 05/01/2009, -2/+0rofl he probably thought those damn gooks were attacking
- youri, on 05/01/2009, -7/+3What is this desperate push for "originality", why do ideas have to be original?
Something isn't any less true just because it isn't original.
Old people are a huge problem, I'll repeat it as long as it needs repeating.
Somebody trolling and saying "LOL TROLL OMG LOLCATS" is not an opposing viewpoint, it is spam, that's why I dugg it down. - youri, on 05/01/2009, -8/+3What a close minded way to operate..
Just because someone says something you don't agree with does not mean they are a troll.
Your "OMGGG TROLL" tactic is nothing more than intellectual laziness. If you discount an idea, it won't challenge your own incorrect ones and that's convenient for someone who's worldview is based on lies that are always at the edge of crumpling. - youri, on 05/01/2009, -16/+2We treat old people the way they treat us...
Old people are responsible for the economic downturn, for outdated draconian policies which negatively affect us all, for laws that are out of touch with the modern world, for oppressive elderly regimes which stand in the way of progress.
They hold our nations hostage, they stand in the way of innovation.
What do they expect for this? Sponge baths?
