- CrushThemTorg, on 07/07/2008, -0/+72I imitate SuperPoke in real life all the time. My friends are getting used to being slapped with fish.
- daonlyfreez, on 07/08/2008, -2/+56It's obvious something needs to be done now!
Let's invent a disorder, we could call it SNaGIA-disorder (Social Networking and General Internet Aggravation-disorder). We need to diagnose them, preferebly early, maybe in Kindergarden already? Then if we diagnose them early, we can drug them early too, thereby we "fought" another symptom without killing the market by curing the cause, and made some good bucks along the way!
Did I mention that as a psychiatrist I have a reason to want to be able to prescribe more drugs? Oh, and did I mention that I own stocks in BigPharma too?
/sarcasm - diggmeyers, on 07/07/2008, -1/+53the net certainly ***** me up
- t3hmyth, on 07/07/2008, -2/+42Well, I can see how Facebook makes teens at risk of Mental Retardation...
- darkchild82, on 07/07/2008, -1/+25True, stupid plugins and widgets DO corrupt your online experience.
- AlanFang, on 07/09/2008, -0/+18I thought that crazy rock and roll music was still corrupting the minds of our youth.
- dscrimshaw, on 07/08/2008, -2/+14A dilemma: is it better to digg a story like this to draw attention to the stupidity? or to not digg it so that it doesn't get any more attention?
- JFallon126, on 07/09/2008, -0/+10Buried as lame. Just more psychobabble to try and convince worthless parents that their kids need to go into (expensive) therapy or they will kill everyone and themselves. Or something.
- nebkiwi, on 07/09/2008, -1/+10how ironic that at the bottom of the page it has a "share with facebook" button..
- mikesbaker, on 07/09/2008, -0/+9"The internet is for lonely people."
Charlton Heston - noblesnail, on 07/07/2008, -4/+12Dugg! I LOVE how this is considered news!
- Galaxylander, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8Who needs parental responsibility when you can blame THE INTERNETS?

- filmbandit, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7if i become a psychologist can i get paid for making up this kind of *****?
- c4sh, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6Lol at the Cardinal using a trackball mouse and CRT in the thumbnail...oh wait that's supposed to be a kid?
- alapoet, on 07/08/2008, -3/+9Only if they get Buried and never make the front page.
- Andyl194, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6I find it stupid how people will go to events and all they do is take pictures for their facebook... I much rather prefer enjoying the moment rather than capturing a false one.
- jgtg32a, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5That was actually a trap statement, by calling thinking that first, you've just proven the fact that you have SNaGIA
- EccentricCdn, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Neither. Run into the woods screaming.
- zimmermans, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4From what this fellow is saying, logically, Facebok and myspace could be the beginning of importing our entire lives into binary. Eventually our consciousness may live in electronic data, where we can instantly execute bliss.exe along with unending_orgasm.dll. yah! alright!. Monkey < Human < Cyborg ftw!
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Well, here we go again....
- 0Xonox0, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5Functioning in the real world... like being able to spell?
- DiscoLando, on 07/09/2008, -2/+6I love how everyone just tosses out what they think without actually critically analyzing what's being said.
- mediaspree, on 07/09/2008, -1/+4if anything facebook makes you more connected with the people around you. If this is a bad thing then you have issues outside of the facebook "world"
- Genrre, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5Dugg for reference to a TF2 medic achievement.
- lolobabyy, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Coming from the person spelling 'yeah' without an h
- daGUY, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3ZERO evidence presented. The entire article consists of quotes from ONE psychiatrist, who says that it "may be possible" that young people are "perhaps more vulnerable to impulsive behavior." No studies, no examples, no polls, etc...absolutely nothing to support that idea.
- MScrip, on 07/09/2008, -1/+4Incorrect. Without Facebook, I wouldn't have seen pictures from my friend Eric's trip to Canada.
What would I have done instead? Keep refreshing his Flickr page waiting for him to upload them? No. Facebook told me he had new photos and I saw them there. That's the beauty of a network like Facebook... it keeps you informed of new activity.
I don't understand the hatred of Facebook. You can do a lot of things there... from sharing photos, sending message, etc. It's a service. It's a platform.
Oh, and it's losers... not loosers. - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4No I'm at risk.......NOOOOOOO
- PhrosTT, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Facebook ruined college.
People are more concerned about 'looking like their having fun' in pictures than actually going out and having fun.
I can't count the number of times I see stupid girls at the bar, posing for pictures and stuff acting like it's the CRAZIEST TIME EVA!!!@ when really it's just a half empty bar.
Put the ***** camera down and go live. You don't need to impress other people.
/rant
also, don't get me started on how it makes random hookups a lot ***** harder.
'In a Relationship' = cockblock - StevieJanowski, on 04/02/2009, -1/+4There are no kids in parks these days I can tell you that. I think that we will get to a place as a society where we will have a better balance of real/virtual life, right now the internetz are just too awesome to walk away from
- ZephyrNinety, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Well, at least we're not all at risk by shlickin' it and fappin' it anymore.
- Genrre, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5I sense win here.
- TBBucs, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2***** it, I'm gonna check my Facebook profile.
- smacksaw, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Me too, except it's my weenis and my wife's pooper.
- solesoul, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2"I like the internet, leave me alone."
Me - 5xSTUN, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Every new technology from Facebook on back to the printing press has had "experts" predicting that it will destroy society.
- Canadian0207, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2porn has done worse
- filmbandit, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3"And so is a shotgun."
Charlton Heston - filmbandit, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2i don't what that is
but i'm relieved to hear it's over
and i don't know why - mozert, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2To those who bury this great article: they are not talking about digg, they are talking about "social" networking sites. And the tendency in that world is to choose to not communicate with anyone with the simple click of the mouse. This is indeed very dangerous.
- wexmajor, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2He's full of *****. The internet can be addictive, that's all the threat it poses. Not many people are pathetic enough to fully exchange their real identity for a fake internet one.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1I never thought about it before today, but I bet it explains why I seem to run into so many people who just do not know what is normal behavior in public. Most people who grew up in a world before the Internet don't seem to have a problem. When you grow up being able to say anything you want online without any sort of reprocussion, it gives you a sense of entitlement to do that in real life and it gets translated into crappy customer service and teenagers flipping you off because you had the audacity to honk your horn at them. Of course you're honking because they're weaving all over the road trying to post pictures on facebook with their iPhone...
Grrr! - MScrip, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Exactly. I can say something on Facebook and 400 people hear it. Like when I add new photos, everyone knows.
Otherwise, I'd have to send 400 plain vanilla e-mails to tell people I have new photos on Flickr. - Hotrox, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1It's a shame more people haven't jumped on the internet band wagon. The more people in the tubes, the less people outside to piss me off.

There are a lot of people playing this tripe so I'm not so sure. - DarkLaughingMan, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Depends on where you get your graduate degree.
- squeakyarmadilo, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Has anyone ever done a research study to see if LOLcats may make you more retarded than FaceBook? At least on FaceBook there's a small chance that something may be spelled slightly correctly.
- Haoie, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Not to mention a Myspace widget.
- spoonchucks, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Couldn't be any worse than MySpace-ese...
