- soul1383, on 04/28/2009, -0/+8It's a different experience for each individual. If I remember correctly snake oil was proven to have no medicinal effects. Where as marijuana has been proven to have myriad of positive medicinal effects!
- johnwes16, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7The difference being that "snake oil" was never proven to have any medicinal benefits, while marijuana has many.
The reason marijuana works so well to *treat* things (not cure) is because of its cannabinoids and their interaction with the body.
People like you who discredit an entire field of research with the "We just want to get high" line set things back and end up hurting the real patients. So please stop giving fodder to the prohibitionists. - Elderon, on 04/28/2009, -0/+3Makes sense, but I don't know if it would actually work. On the other hand though cannabis would help a person with the flu relax and feel better during the duration of being sick and would help cut down on the nausea and vomiting might help prevent any complications arising from dehydration.
It's not like any of the anti viral drugs like tamiflu make that huge a difference. I think helping someone relax and keep fluids down would make a positive impact. - Metavised, on 04/28/2009, -2/+5I whole-heartedly agree. That's why we should attack all the facts leading up to such recommendations, not any perceived biases that would make the job of turning our attention all the easier.
It's very easy to dismiss something like this as false, but it's a lot harder taking the time to test the facts. Personally, I doubt this issue entirely, but until I research the sources I can't dismiss it willingly.
P.S: Don't assume everyone "just wants to get high", it speaks more about your reasons then anyone elses. - peteyb1313, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1i recently had the flu, although not the swine variety, and the only way i could keep food or drink down was with a joint
- JoeF8577, on 04/28/2009, -2/+2Legalize Armadillos
Regulate and Tax them for Revenue.

Step right up ladies and gents, gather round. I have something I'd like to sell you, it can fix the economy, cure cancer and treat your swine flue.
I'm all for MMJ, or plain legalization, but lets face it. We just want to get high.
