- redscofield, on 07/04/2008, -8/+116the 80 pounds lost was due to his corpse decomposing...
- tj241, on 07/04/2008, -3/+98Kinda like holding AA meetings at a bar
- serenityflexed, on 07/05/2008, -2/+78It's salad and apples! -- even McDonald's can't f*ck that up.
- BrownManUPS, on 07/04/2008, -0/+72I wonder how much exercise was included.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -11/+76In other news today, Man eats healthy, loses weight...
how the ***** do dumbass stories make this to the front page?
buried - nowsamsara, on 07/05/2008, -2/+59...because it's chic to spend $15.00 a day on rabbit food so you can contact a reporter from the Associated Press with the shock value statement: "I lost 80 lbs eating McDonald's."
- MakiNavaja, on 07/05/2008, -2/+52Why didn't he just eat at home, then?
- larryk12308, on 07/05/2008, -14/+50Just another attempt at damage control. Mickie D's has been trying to cover their backsides since "Super Size Me" came out.
- sanman, on 07/04/2008, -1/+32He also had his stomach stapled
- Jeremyz0r, on 07/05/2008, -1/+27Yes the ***** they can, look at their calorie sheets.
- pathy, on 07/05/2008, -9/+35Super Size Me was a ***** con.
He had a massive change in his lifestyle, he limited any exercise and he limited anything at all that would have helped him. He ate when he wasn't hungry, and he only ate the full burger meals. - BuzzFriendly, on 07/05/2008, -0/+25Why would anyone think McDonalds is healthy? If you ate a salad and drank water three times a day at Friendlys you would loose weight at a ice cream joint. Or if you hate one Hershey bar a day you would loose weight. It not a restaurants responsibility for you to eat healthy or loose weight it is your responsibility to eat healthy and control your own weight.
- gibler, on 07/05/2008, -0/+24Did he work out at the McDonalds play area as well?
- Jenadae, on 07/05/2008, -8/+30Why is that damn comma, there?
- pak314, on 07/05/2008, -2/+24The burgers are fine if you leave off the meat and cheese.
- Mononuclear, on 07/05/2008, -8/+28Are you retarded? You can't eat Chinese or Indian every day for a month without getting sick? What about people living in China or India? I think they do alright..
- webkami, on 07/05/2008, -1/+191. Eat McDee Salad
2. Lose 80 pounds
3. Go to AP
4. ??????
5. Profit - pathy, on 07/05/2008, -7/+25McDonalds do not assume people will be eating there 3 times a day, even when they are not actually hungry. That'd be ***** stupid.
I'm sick of people using Super Size Me as an example of anything but what being a lazy fat ass with no concern at all for their wellbeing can do to you. It's a ***** shock tactic to clash against McDonalds and so many people fall for it that it is truly astounding. - Bmarofsky, on 07/05/2008, -2/+20The salads are fine if you leave off the crispy chicken (opt for the grilled) and the dressing.
- KaiUno, on 07/05/2008, -6/+23Their "Chinese food" and "Indian food" are a far cry from what you call the same.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -1/+18"His inspiration came from his two children and from the story of a blind war veteran who rode a tandem bicycle cross-country."
How does a blind veteran riding a tandem bike cross-country make you want to lose weight by going on a Mcdonald's only plan?
I seriously can't make the connection. Maybe he decided to bike but there was a Mcdonald's on the way and he decided to go on a diet, there? - Jeffler, on 07/05/2008, -0/+16I had a dyslexia support grope meeting at a bra once.
- dullnation, on 07/05/2008, -1/+16Why would I want McDonnalds salads when I could just make them myself and pay 1/5 the price?
- TheDefiant, on 07/05/2008, -1/+16Chris Coleson = McDonald's Jarred
- kenvsryu, on 07/05/2008, -0/+14I'm barred at AA meetings.
- Stormwern, on 07/05/2008, -3/+17He changed his exercise habits to that of an average american, and he ate three times a day exactly what mcdonalds recommended him to eat. What else is a "meal" if not a recommended meal?
Ofcourse you can loose weight at mcdonalds, you can loose weight eating butter, just eat less and exercise. - nowsamsara, on 07/05/2008, -9/+22I cannot help but wonder if this is a McDonald's stunt. How else would the Associated Press get hold of it? No reported has ever solicited ~me~ on my dietary intake and I'd certainly not send out a press release on where I ate. But I might be weird like that.
- RomanThommassen, on 07/05/2008, -0/+13buried for inaccuracy, the guy lost 79 pounds...
- SGIsus, on 07/05/2008, -3/+15the thing is, I don't care about stuff like super size me... cos at the end of the day I know McDonalds is bad for me and I always knew that, but I eat at McDonalds cos it tastes good. As long as you don't engorge yourself on it and keep a healthy lifestyle the odd burger shouldn't matter.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+12Apparently that is "almost everything on the menu"
- bxblox, on 07/05/2008, -0/+12"apple dippers without the caramel sauce" aka sliced apples
- auto98, on 07/05/2008, -4/+15Abso-*****-lutely - it was a total con - he never "almost died" as an above poster put it. It made a point in the show of saying that there were people that lived on MacDonalds - if it were true that he was almost dead after a couple of months, those who lived off MacD would obviously be dead. What actually happened was that he went from being a fit person, to being an unfit person. Which i could have told him without having to make the ***** show.
- Jeremyz0r, on 07/05/2008, -14/+25I call total BS on this, Mc Donald's salads have more calories then their Macs.
Any of you ever watch Super Size Me?
Within a month of eating nothing but their meals he almost died. - nowsamsara, on 07/05/2008, -1/+12I've been to AA meetings _behind_ bars. ;-)
- wattersm, on 07/05/2008, -0/+10That doesn't get publicity.
- stretch611, on 07/05/2008, -1/+10I'll wager cash that this was a publicity stunt paid for by McDonalds.
- captaindigger, on 07/05/2008, -2/+10I think he had Aids.
- cygnus2112, on 07/05/2008, -1/+8Obviously, the guy in the article PROVED that you can eat McDonald's food everyday and lose weight and be healthy. It's not about the establishment, persay, it has more to do with your choices once in that establishment. He ate salads, wraps and apples - all healthy foods.
If someone just eats fatty foods - sure, it's bad. But I do not know anyone who eats McDonald's three meals a day. Except one person who wanted to make an exaggerated point in a video in the instance that someone IS crazy enough to eat fatty foods with no exercise. It could have easily have been frozen dinners from the grocery store, or a Chinese restaurant. It's about portion control and balance.
But too many people would simply rather blame McDonald's and America. Just because that seems simpler than blaming an individual for their choices.
One other point: Even after McDonald's cancelled their "super size", the average weight of humans in the Western World is still increasing. - hitithard, on 07/05/2008, -7/+14I wonder how this story is on the FP.
- Herv3, on 07/05/2008, -0/+7I lost alot of weight while eating McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell and KFC. Not exclusivley, but mixed in there. The trick is to not get anything bigger than a snack or spending over $3 and staying away from the soda. Soda making you more hungry and never feeling like a small snack is enough.
- dickbain, on 07/05/2008, -0/+6When enough diggers "digg" a story, it shows up on the front page.
- MrFurious2k, on 07/05/2008, -3/+9What I can't figure out is why some people seem to have this crusade to kill off McDonalds, instead of just shutting up and not going there. Don't like the food? Don't eat there. I'm tired of hearing from these self-righteous ***** who have to scream at the top of their lungs how bad the food is for you. No one is forcing you to eat it. Just shut up and sit down and go eat your tofurkey.
- hotpuck6, on 07/05/2008, -0/+6But, then you miss our on the loving tender care of your local high schooler's hands.
- whorunbartertwn, on 07/05/2008, -1/+7So you're angry that people will think it's ok to eat there since with exercise and wise choices from the menu it's actually ok to eat there?
- SSUK, on 07/05/2008, -1/+6Don't rely on calories when judging food, fat and salt are also key factors to show how 'healthy' food is.
- innocentsinner, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5But they taste nice at twice the price!
- raynar, on 07/05/2008, -1/+6wow, who would have thought a low carb diet makes you lose weight..
- wattersm, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Have you seen how many calories the dressing has?
- kotn2012, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Damn tapeworms.
- hotpuck6, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5it's the dressing, it's something like 600 calories.
Skip the dressing and you're golden. -
