Male eating disorder rise blamed on pressure to look good

independent.co.uk — Anorexia is usually considered to be a "women's disease", but dramatic increases in the number of male sufferers are being seen by eating disorder experts. One consultant reveals for the first time that he has seen more male anorexia referrals than females. He blames the rise on greater social pressure on men to look good.

  • ScottMcIntyre, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1I think 'real men' can suffer from eating disorders too. Sometimes, those obsessed with the gym can be obsessed enough with their looks to develop an eating disorder.
