- vtbarrera, on 06/28/2009, -3/+48The City let this happen, and now they want to retroactively change the way they're conducting their medical marijuana policy? I don't like the slippery slope this creates.
- TNicholson, on 06/28/2009, -7/+42THIS WILL END UP BEING HASHED OUT IN THE COURTS
- Nitrodist88, on 06/28/2009, -2/+36Notice how they're "pot sellers" now, instead of medical marijuana dispensaries.

- lukasmack, on 06/28/2009, -1/+22Dugg for L.A. times having a pun in their headline.
- KOSmurfy, on 06/28/2009, -0/+18The point is understanding propaganda and how it's used.
- doctechnical, on 06/28/2009, -1/+18Now here's a superb example of rational thought logically applied. FTA:
"Cindy Chvatal, head of the Hancock Park Homeowners Assn., said many parents whose children use the library and a nearby preschool have complained to her about the dispensary's location."
Dear parents: Who do you think is more likely to sell to your kid? A licensed, legal, regulated dispensary, or Joe the Dealer on the corner, who's already a criminal?
Or to put it another way, which do you think is easier for a 12 year old to score: A twelve-pack of Schlitz, or a nickel bag?
Legalize it, you twits. Then you can CONTROL it, who gets it and who doesn't. How flipping hard is that to understand? As long as it's illegal, the black market will provide it to anyone who has the green, no holds barred. It has always been thus. - m00gg, on 06/28/2009, -1/+17After the City Council let them open... Now the same people want to close them down. I'm confused? No issues with determine which collective care-givers are in it for the right reason... Get rid of the "drug-dealers" and keep the compassionate care-givers! I just hope the inspections are unbaised or influenced by any outside means... Politics suck!
- noodles314, on 06/28/2009, -2/+17I HATE TO BE BLUNT, BUT I GET THE FEELING THAT THE COURTS WON'T RESOLVE THIS ONE EASILY
- potatonet, on 06/28/2009, -6/+18Los Angeles... definitely not the city of angels for the people who use marijuana medically.
- jack2454, on 06/28/2009, -7/+19dugg for the way used the word "Weed"
- treas, on 06/28/2009, -1/+11Marijuana doesn't cause stomach bleeding.
Also, aspirin causes nausea.
@EverybodyPanic - tell that to people going through chemo
TMYK - AraleNorimaki, on 06/28/2009, -1/+11Mexico moves quietly to decriminalize minor drug use
http://www.latimes.com/features/health/medicine/la ... - afterlife23, on 06/28/2009, -0/+9drunk royals fan, get a brain
- rustygb, on 06/28/2009, -1/+10Not a good idea to close down a bunch of new businesses in this economy...
http://thefreshscent.com/2009/06/09/la-city-counci ... - ftc08, on 06/28/2009, -0/+9Hm... Oddly enough I'm a manager where I work. Should I get another job? I could use the extra money...
for weed. - l0rdishtar, on 06/28/2009, -1/+10Because they are operating legally under California state law and the new administration has agreed to respect (on a federal level) state's decisions regarding Medical Cannabis. Even Michael Steele recently commented that the federal government should never get between a doctor and a patient, of course he's a hypocritical jackass, but you know..
- deathandtaverns, on 06/28/2009, -1/+10I just don't understand any of the arguments that are being made. For example the "there are too many" argument. What is the consequence of having too many except it being harder to operate a dispensary because you have fewer customers? The same goes with opening them up near schools and libraries. Unlike dealers, the dispensaries aren't going to sell it to kids. Do they think it's advertising cannabis any more than gas stations advertise alcohol and cigarettes or pharmacies advertise medicine? I just don't understand.
- stevgex, on 06/28/2009, -1/+9Fortunately, the LA city council is totally inept at getting anything accomplished. So they will probably (hopefully) fail.
- iticu, on 06/28/2009, -2/+10Well done, you understood the pun.
:golfclap: - MrsButtersworth, on 06/28/2009, -1/+9"Reyes made no apologies for the procedures. "It's not a debate. It's a hearing," he said. "If it was a debate, I would never finish an item."
Well then holy *****, maybe there needs to be a debate, not just one side to the issue. What a novel idea. - mst3kcrow, on 06/28/2009, -0/+71 DIGG FOR THE PRICE OF A BILLY MAY'S REFERENCE. HOLY *****!1! THAT'S RIGHT, JUST ONE MAY'S REFERENCE FOR ONE DIGG. YOU'RE PROBABLY SAYING, GOD DAMN THIS GUY IS ON AMPHETAMINES. WELL I AM!
- ScissorHand26, on 06/28/2009, -1/+8To the digger who posted the cancer article, I copypasta this other diggers response:
""Since we know that the incidence of testicular cancer has been rising in our country and in Europe over the last 40 years and that marijuana use has also risen over the same time, it seemed logical that there might be an association between the two."
I forget what kind of fallacy this logic falls under, but still it's a silly misuse of causality. "
It was originally by Maximilen. - adventflux, on 06/28/2009, -0/+7THEY SHOULD NIP IT IN THE BUD BEFORE IT GETS WORSE.
- ewicki, on 06/28/2009, -1/+8What about a vast majority of people who use medical 'excuses' to legally get really good pot? Seriously, there are many of those people out there, too.
For the record I love my weed and LSD, but in my opinion medical weed should go to people who actually need it for treatment, and the system as it exists now doesn't make sure of that. - Favreism, on 06/28/2009, -5/+12JUDGING BY HIS PICTURE, I'D SAY ALAPOET WAS THE PERFECT PERSON TO SUBMIT THIS
(SORRY FOR THE CAPS, RIP BILLY MAYS) - inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+7It's the truth. I, being under 21, can get weed any day of the week if I want to. However, I don't have any connections to get alcohol.
- treas, on 06/28/2009, -0/+7nearly everyone you know is a great sample size!
- l0rdishtar, on 06/28/2009, -2/+8You're an authoritarian neocon (probably voted McCain and wants Bush to be king) who thinks he knows more than a doctor.
Next time you take an OVER THE COUNTER allergy medication consider this:
Benadryl: (DiPhenHydramine)
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Diphenhydramine:
Dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth, throat, and nose; thickening of mucus in nose or throat.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Diphenhydramine:
Severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; hives; itching; tightness in the chest; rash; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); decreased alertness; excitability; fast heartbeat; hallucinations; seizures; tightness or pounding in the chest; tremor; wheezing.
(and then go read a book about pharmacology or jack off to some Bush pictures)
You seem to want your government to burp you, change your diaper and protect you from all risks. How about this: If you think its an unnecessary risk then don't engage in it. Luckily you sound like a looser who will not shape public policy or influence anyone in any area of life because of your (lack of) education on complex subject matters that can't be distilled down to a Rush Limbaugh talking point or a copy/paste from some anti-drug website. But thanks for making me laugh. - or3n, on 06/28/2009, -0/+6 A JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS SHOULD BE CALLED TO DEAL WITH THIS MATTER
- deylux, on 06/29/2009, -0/+6sigh... LOOK! It's your typical American drunk who obviously hates pot simply because that's how he was told to act by the television...
Fact: There are thousands of what your type of people chronically label as "no good hippie pot heads" that will work you into the ground, before and after smoking a fat joint. Believe me without uncertainty, that this is a fact you asshat! - Niocan, on 06/29/2009, -0/+5I'll take in vitro studies over statistics anyday:
http://www.scientificfactsofpot.com/studies.htm
Hey look, seems like it not only *doesn't* cause cancer... It sends it into remission via Autophagy. Science :) - l0rdishtar, on 06/29/2009, -3/+8As a member of NORML (www.norml.org) I'd say we're having a very positive effect on public policy in this debate. The last two or three years have been very good to us, and if you've paid attention to the news lately you know that its only going to get better. Like any substance Cannibas has positive and negative attributes (my continued use of H2O, N and O for example make me want to strangle your kind) but the momentum for legalization is clearly building, the legal framework for it is already in place and several bills are in the House and Senate of both state and federal legislature to tax and regulate it like alcohol (which kills about 20,000 people a year directly, Cannabis has killed exactly 0 this year directly)
I'm not sure why you said "Pot is legal now", thats inaccurate, (doesn't stop me from enjoying it though), however it is now legal as a prescription in 12 states which is great progress. You seem like a teetotaling Morman or prohibitionist thats not exactly down for social revolutions or subversion so I'll leave you be. Enjoy - treas, on 06/28/2009, -0/+5what are you buying, schwag?
1,999$ for 10 pounds?
LOL - WalkerTXclocker, on 06/28/2009, -1/+6MAN I WISH I COULD GET 10LBS FOR 19.99. THAT'D BE AWESOME!
$1,999 WOULD BE CLOSER THOUGH UNFORTUNATELY. - verynegative, on 06/28/2009, -3/+8Drug dealers are loosing their customers and politicians are not getting their cut.
- frieddonuts, on 06/28/2009, -0/+4ONLY THE HIGHEST COURT IN THE LAND HAS THE AUTHORITY TO DECIDE ON THIS MATTER. WE MUST END THIS CHRONIC PLAGUE ON SOCIETY.
- l0rdishtar, on 06/29/2009, -3/+7lol whatever pops, you've had your heyday, go somewhere and die (may it be a morphine-less death, the side effects on that one are much worse) while us young people ***** the world you left us with.
- AimlessAbyss, on 06/28/2009, -1/+5I hope the pun was intentional.
- TomTruelle, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6AND NOW, FOR A LIMITED TIME...
- lkbvr, on 06/28/2009, -5/+9Ahhhhh, marijuana pun!
- weebit, on 06/28/2009, -0/+4And so the USA people sit back and they watch what President Obama does. I am sure he knows about this. He either does:
1. he does nothing because he has his own plans for the USA.
2. He begs Mexico not to sign this into law stating the same reasons that Bush and company used.
3. He proves to the public where he stands on the issue regardless of which option he picks. - earthtoandy, on 06/28/2009, -1/+5Whatever happened to supply and demand? I say we let that model dictate how many dispensaries are open.... naturally.
- marx2k, on 06/28/2009, -3/+7Yeah aspirin should be able to get rid of nausea and/or restore appetite with no problem
- tech42er, on 06/29/2009, -0/+3And the vast number of people who use medical "excuses" to get Adderall in college? Same kind of thing.
- pak314, on 06/28/2009, -0/+3That is what the pot clinics in Oakland are trying to do. They are asking themselves to be further taxed knowing that once a city is addicted to the revenue they will never go back.
- WiretapStudios, on 06/29/2009, -0/+3PRESCHOOL? Right, like the dispensary owner is out in front of his store giving samples out to unattended preschoolers. Preschoolers are like 2 years old, why was that even part of the issue? Isn't it your responsibility as a parent to be responsible for the kid up to a certain point? PROTIP: The library is a great low-key place to meet your weed dealer.
- Stevanoski, on 06/28/2009, -1/+4You just pays off the right peoples and your worries are over. I'd start with the Mayor.
