- nowsourcing, on 03/31/2008, -0/+8I've got questions about the cell phone industry, too.

And if adults want to tan, let them tan. The government's not meant to be your parent...people can do their own research on the supposed risks and make a decision, just like anything else. - biglio, on 03/31/2008, -0/+5I went to tan.. then got a wart on my back..
- pws1970, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4Its funny to see all the 'orange people' walk about here in Scotland in the dead of winter - its big business here, I hate tanning beds but obviously there are thousands who love them.
- Shiner76, on 03/31/2008, -0/+4Hopefully the tanning bed fixer squad doesn't come after Dr Benabio now
- SteelChicken, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4as with all things, moderation is key.
- PueSi, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3I don't understand what's with all the people tanning, they look stupid and weird, specially the spreayed ones (orange people)
This fad has to stop! - jggube, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3huh, this was an interesting read.
Tanning salons are horrible, but I would have to say that based on first-hand experience, smoking is much more unhealthy (at least if you don't go to the salon every single day). But as with anything, moderation is key. Smoking doesn't just lead to cancer, it's produces other types of ailments such as high blood pressure (take your blood pressure right after smoking a cig, you'll be surprised), bad teeth / poor dental hygiene, lung problems, and I'm sure you guys can fill in the rest.
Also, I just can't see "Sandy's Tan of Fun Co." right beside Phillip Morris. :) - drmobutu, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3Just don't put that Big Tabasco sauce on your sausages, while talking on your cell phone at the tanning salon, and you'll have nothing to worry about...
- Akaricloud, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3I don't care if you work 10 hours a day (I do) or live in a cave. Go jogging or cycling for an hour a day and you'll get a natural tan. I don't get why people pay money to use tanning booths when you can just use the sun for free.
But thats just me. - jquipp, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3I have to agree here. Anyone else seen any research, supporting either side, or have any thoughts?
- coltrane68, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2No, but it might be the new Tomacco.
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2What research? You put yourself in an oven of UV rays to burn your skin a little. There's no way that can be a good thing. If you do it regularly, you're increasing your risk of skin cancer.
I actually need to get a tan in the spring, just a small one, to reduce my risk of skin cancer during the summer (my dermatologist recommends I do this). But I'm so white, I'm translucent. I'm going to get burned anyway, so a light tan before I'm exposed to summer time sunshine will actually reduce the risk of getting burns. A tan is basically your skin protecting itself against the sun. - Rotzooi, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2Of course, some sleazy types are already anticipating a class-action lawsuit against Big Tan: "I only went twice daily -in different salons because they wouldn't really let me- and now I have skin cancer! Give me 100 million dollars!"
- Dumbledorito, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2It's not the new tobacco as I've yet to hear of getting a secondhand tan, or having your clothes reek of tan by sitting next to someone who insists on tanning like a chimney.

The blog ignored the facts behind the tanning industry public relations advertising. - Akaricloud, on 04/01/2008, -1/+2But the government doesn't try to be your parent. Their job is to protect themselves from liabilities. If the government wraps everything in plastic and makes everyone wear a safety helmet then when that 1 jack ass hurts themselves, they can't sue the government.
- dropthehammer, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1I think we'll see the first lawsuit against "Big Tan" in a year or so
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -1/+1please stop using the word "debunk".
