Sure, parents and non-parents may find images of certain ANONYMOUS babies to be unattractive, but they completely ignore the attachment a mother typically forms with her children simply because THEY ARE HER CHILDREN. This is biological evolution, and it makes sense. Also, though it seems more prominent with woman, I'm pretty certain that both sexes slowly set aside physical attraction in its importance within a relationship (romantic, just making this point as an aside but still closely tied).

Well of COURSE people are going to want to look at the cute babies and not the ugly ones! It has nothing at all to do with whether or not you would love that baby if it were yours. 1) The babies weren't the children of the people looking at them.
2) The test subjects weren't asked to show affection to REAL children.
All that "study" proves is that people don't like looking at deformities. Well, no duh. I really have to doubt the educational system when researchers can attain doctoral degrees and create an experiment that flawed.

I'd want to examine them for just a second longer, just to see if they really were that gruesome. I can't believe that with an entire study of people, nobody would do the same as me. Everyone's seen a pretty baby. But there's really only one Juliana Wetmore, now, isn't there?

They knew their answers to "attractiveness" would be recorded, but they had no idea the PC was timing how long they spend looking at the baby.
Both females and males rated the babies with deformities as equally attractive. This could be because they knew their answers were being recorded (who wants to get caught calling any baby "ugly"?) However, they blazed pass the "ugly" babies while lingering to admire the "cute" ones.
