- GodAImighty, on 11/16/2009, -1/+29it's ok, digg and real relationships are mutually exclusive anyway
- drmangrum, on 11/16/2009, -0/+22Correction.
ANY addiction can harm real relationships. I hate articles that try to pin the worlds ills on technology. - lead2thehead, on 11/16/2009, -1/+21FTA - "Surveys indicate half of Internet addicts also have another addiction, such as drugs, alcohol, smoking or sex."
So people prone to self destructive behaviors are more likely to engage in other self destructive behaviors. No kidding. - Vaiper, on 11/16/2009, -0/+18I literally spend all day behind a computer. I am a loser. Or am I awesome?
- xpinchx, on 11/16/2009, -1/+18Sure, whatever.

- Laminarcissus, on 11/16/2009, -0/+11Just confused -- you're supposed to be in front of it. From behind you can't see anything on the screen.
- ldsan, on 11/16/2009, -0/+11 a collective nervous laugh was heard on digg

- dlgsky, on 11/16/2009, -0/+9what if the internet is your real relationship?
- allisonV12, on 11/16/2009, -1/+9true...now take out the trash
- allisonV12, on 11/16/2009, -0/+8awesome loser
- CoryTrevor, on 11/16/2009, -2/+9Internet addiction can cause problems in a relationship only if you're dating a needy bitch, and in those cases, if it wasn't this, she would just find something else to project her self esteem issues on.
- Mujokan, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5Depends if you're happy or not.
- DreKor, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5... and real relationships can seriously harm your Internet addiction. It's time to choose.
- jokertothethief, on 11/16/2009, -0/+4Relationship addiction can harm real internets.
- Onion575, on 11/16/2009, -0/+4Dugg for honesty.
- MonkeyOverlord, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Does this make those of us who work on things like blogging software the equivalent of drug dealers?... I'm just sayin...
- zantos420, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3i seen 'im!
- Bloodweaver, on 11/16/2009, -1/+4Why can't people just accept that technology like the internet is the norm. All progress always has some caveats and dangers, but generally the fear is hyped to be far greater than the actual danger it represents.
- horakhti, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Awesomeness IRL = conversely related to awesomeness online. So, yes and no?
- sleze, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Digg needs a "Duh" category similar to Fark's "Obvious"
- GelfTheElf, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Anyone else noticed what? What were we talking about again?
- katahar, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2"The reStart Internet Addiction Recovery Clinic, which charges $14,000 for a 45-day recovery program, has treated three men and one woman who sought to kick serious video game habits that left them unable to complete school or hindered their ability to form real-world relationships, said clinic co-founder Dr. Hilarie Cash."
14k for a month and a half "rehab"? Mrs Cash you have won all internet points. Spend it well. - Ddraig, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2"When people are afraid of not having their PDA or a phone with them, then it's addictive," Greenfield said.
Or how 'bout your boss will chew your ass off if you dont. - StripeyMagee, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2Bah, it's one big hookup venue!
- ApeInago, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2Or know his screenname.
- KevinRowz, on 11/16/2009, -1/+3So I am to gather from the thumbnail that internet addiction can make my partner look blurry? I guess it makes sense, given the eye strain. But who the hell cares? My penis won't lose sensation from internet addiction, will it?
- smemily, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2Or coffee. But I bet that's more than half of internet addicts.
- mparker21311, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2What happens when my girlfriend and I are both addicted to the internet?
- Mujokan, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2Besides the time I spend, the other downside seems to me to be that my attention span has gotten shorter. Anyone else notice this??
- onlysc, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2what internet addiction?
- Quisquis, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2That's not indicative of an addiction. That's indicative of a society that demands constant or near constant access, and individuals that cater to that demand.
I don't want to go without my phone because I want people to be able to get ahold of me. - StarExtreme, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1What if you never experienced the internet?
- StarExtreme, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Guilty.
- dadotron, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1My girlfriend and I both enjoy spending time together surfing the internet, as well as spending time outside!
- Laminarcissus, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1The criteria for addiction is that it have negative consequences. Harming relationships is one of those negative consequences.
- allisonV12, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1more like a pimp
- endustry, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1This is why we need someone to invent Third Life. Second Life doesn't provide a fallback.
- blackturtleus, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Another pseudo-malady invented by "experts" who have no clue what they're talking about. It's possible to be addicted to porn, online games, shopping, or gambling. It's possible to be a workaholic or to be obsessed with something. But to lump all these into one malady and call it an addiction to the internet is just dumb. That makes as much sense as saying someone was addicted to newspapers, magazines, or memos back in the days before the internet just because they had a stack of newspapers and a stack of porn magazines and spent too much time looking at these items.
- Codeman917, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Sounds like an Onion article
- Quisquis, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Jesus... I was addicted to wow for a while and was able to kick the habit w/o spending 14k... or even a single penny.
Although now I spend way more going out with friends than I did to play wow. lol - raza7370, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1All progress always has some caveats and dangers.
