Last time it was 22yes - 29no or something like that... So it has a decent chance... All we can hope for is that enough of those guys have changed their minds in a year.
Help our citizens in IL! Legalize Medical Marijuana, for the benefit of the sick and suffering! - Member148, on 03/06/2008, -8/+2They have drugs that will ease any pain and suffering that a patient would have to endure for sickness and suffering. There is no need for Marijuana. If they get Marijuana legalized the price will sky rocket ten times over. It will even cost more those buying it on the street illegally. Don't worry that much, if they legalize it though. The good old reliable taxpayer who doesn't use it or thinks it is immoral to use, will have to pay for it because the ones that will use it will be poverty stricken, and without insurance, then the parents will have the added burden of convincing their children why they are paying for something they can't use themselves.
- NikoKun, on 03/06/2008, -1/+8There IS a reason for such drugs. The pharmaceutical drugs don't always work for some people, or sometimes are just too high of a risk due to side effects, When Marijuana has a similar effect, with fewer harmful side effects, and it also helps them relax and feel ok, AS WELL... Why shouldn't they be allowed to?
There are also some medical uses, which Marijuana is one of the best options for. For Irv Rosenfeld, it works as the best solution to his bone tumors, as it works as an anti-inflammatory med, and keeps his muscles and vanes from tearing. I've seen a person with a horrible studder, able to easily talk normally and clearly after using marijuana. For some it just works as a good pain reliever, and it helps a lot of people get off some of the prescription meds. Why deny people the option?
What about preventative medicine? Marijuana was found to decrease your chance for Alzheimer's, It lowers the risk of some cancers, especially if you vaporize your pot... Marijuana has even been found to increase brain cell growth... - ZxEfR, on 03/06/2008, -1/+8"I see beauty in all of God's creation" --- Hmmm.....I guess God didn't create marijuana in your mind eh? Guess you don't believe that God knows better how to take care of peoples ills than does man eh? Go away you phony emo.....and don't mention God again till you actually know what God is about!
- ZxEfR, on 03/06/2008, -0/+7I noticed in another of your posts that you seem to be okay with drinking Vodka however?!?!?!
- NatashaCall, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1I'm very certain that Marijuana has effects that other pain killing remedies can duplicate. However, certain doctors and certain patients are on the bandwagon with this method of treatment. I understand that there are other methods from first hand experience because I have been chronically ill and have had to manage pain for years. I believe that this has less to do with treating those who are sick than it does with making a substance more freely available to make money from. This is not good. I know there are those who disagree. That is what good debate is all about.
- Phrag, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1This is absolutely not about making more money. It is totally about helping sick people. There are no medications that duplicate the effects of marijuana that someone can create on their own for a fraction of the cost of most pharmaceutical drugs. Those who oppose medical marijuana care more about money than people, not the proponents of it.
- Phrag, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1It is idiotic to assume that you should ban the use of one substance simply because there are others that have similar effects. The majority of the medications with similar effects to marijuana are more toxic than marijuana, have a higher rate of addiction than marijuana, have more severe and longer lasting side effects than marijuana and have a higher risk of overdose than marijuana. If anything, you should be supporting the replacement of all other drugs with marijuana (although this would be equally idiotic).

- wishninja, on 03/06/2008, -0/+9"I think this bill has so many loopholes in it," Nargelenas(the cop) said. "It would make it almost impossible for us, without providing all of these other safeguards, to deal with drug traffic that has nothing to do with the individuals that are sick."
Always stupid foot dragging by the cops worried about their job security. I would suggest don't freaking bother in arresting any traffic in the drug at all MR. COP! - thechr0nic, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6It is encouraging to see common sense beginning to prevail
- suzywang3000, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1I didn't know Muslims condoned the use of mind altering drugs (?)
- thomoore, on 03/06/2008, -3/+2Pot ought not to be against the law. http://www.scragged.com/articles/a-modest-proposal ... points out some aspects of legalization that aren't being discussed. The comments to the article have references to a lot of US government reports that RECOMMEND legalization!
- thebaron2, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Another ***** scragged SPAMMER. Bury the ***** out of anything you see coming from that site or anyone posting links to it. Just look at this douche's comment history:

- h0ser, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4Did you even read that article. It didn't point out any bad aspects to lagalizing marijuana. All it said was that p[eople were able to get it easily in california. Mrijuana is safer then most prescritpion drugs you are taking into your body right now, with very little bad side effects. I'd rather get the muchies as a side effect then get anal bleeding.
