- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -1/+42Get weight, pick up weight, put down weight, repeat.
- Kwasny, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35"The fastest way to build muscle is to get stronger. The stronger you are, the stronger you’ll look."
wtf - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24If you want massive gains, you have to eat like a FREAK to get there. I hate people who stop eating much of anything, start working out and wonder why they aren't gaining muscle. EAT!
- JD52, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Wait! I would rather sit on my ass.... Is there a pill I can take instead?
- therealrico, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26I try, but I have this women at work who brings in candy for everyone 3 times a week. I hate her because I have no self control, STOP BRINGING IN CANDY YOU FAT ASS, we all don't want to look like you!!!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19I'd do anything to lose weight.
Anything of course, except eat right and exercise. - msgyrd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Tell her she's a fat ass. I'm sure she'll stop giving you candy then.
- MeThePeople, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18eating pussy does not count as a diet plan
- nomadofthehills, on 10/26/2007, -0/+12Sounds like you are the fatass, why don't you learn some self control.
- GoingPostal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Much more sex works too. If you do it right.
- pumpedvideo, on 10/17/2007, -4/+15The guy in zenhabit has no idea.
There are no way to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. To lose fat, you need to consume less calories than you need. To gain muscle, you need more calories.
You can try to do both at the same time with cycle. However, it is much faster to break it down and then build it up - Leo21k, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Drink lots of water, eat a ton of fiber, protein, and work out. No junk food.
- rune420, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14"Cardio. Do 30 minutes of cardio after your strength training. Three times a week at moderate intensity will do. The goal of cardio is to burn fat, not to exhaust yourself. You should breathe heavier than when at rest, but not gasping."
No. No. No. If anything, do the cardio before the strength training. After the weightlifting you need to worry about getting carbs and proteins into your system ASAP, not draining your bloodsugar further and hampering muscle recovery. - asdfuiop, on 10/10/2007, -2/+91) Put down the fork
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Just to let everyone know
Masturbating does not count as exercise. - ScottBookG4, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Protein anyone? And ditch the sugars and transfat & saturated fat. DONE DEAL
- Spytap, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11Gotta say though, I strongly disagree with this part: "Cut calories. Track your food intake using Fitday. Start eating 18x your current body-weight in lbs. One week later: cut 500kcal." I weigh 162 right now, and want to get down to 155. I guarantee that beginning to eat 3000 calories a day isn't going to help. Neither is eating 2500 per day. Both of these are gonna help me blow up like a balloon though...
- Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6you would kill to be a toothpick?
- wes00mertes, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Like most "Build Muscle, Lose Fat" or "Get the body you've always wanted" articles...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7As the old saying goes - misery loves company - and shes trying to create some company for herself.
- yournamehere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5you weak f00l! :)
- krackajap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+54) PROFIT!!
- rune420, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I disagree. With the right amount of exercise, 3000 kcal will leave you starving at the end of the day. You won't build much muscle eating any less.
- fremeer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5yvan eth nioj
- warMen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Haha you wanna build muscle? Squat, deadlift, bench, row, and EAT. Only genetic freaks can build muscle and lose some fat at the same time, but it usually doesn't work that way.
If you build a lot of muscle, but your amount of fat doesn't increase, your bodyfat % can go down because you have more muscle mass that outweighs it, but if you're eating in a calorie surplus to gain muscle, you won't be losing any fat. - noch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+53) ????
- urby86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I don't know why you're getting dugg down but you're absolutely correct. When I start trying to put on mass I have to intake 3000 calories per day. Simple physics, mass cannot be created or destroyed. You have to eat to gain muscle.
- bbear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I eat 5000 calories a day just to maintain my weight. Pro bodybuilders eat 6000 to 7000 calories a day when bulking up.

Learn your own language, people! - giveer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5They should've just written the article as:
Get safe amounts of fats, lots of protein, carbs and exercise.

- solid12345, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Or you could follow the Conan the Barbarian method. See your parents get decapitated, get enslaved, and push the wheel of pain everyday for 10 years.
- flippedcracker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6"It learns you..."
that's some quality writing right there. - Punisher2K, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Get carbs and good fats (most nuts, fish, etc). 6 meals a day.
Skip Saturated and Trans Fats but everything else is fair game and will actually help prevent cardiovascular problems. - catalysis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Read what I said again.
- kenoticc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Exactly. But you still can exercise while dieting to prevent muscle loss.
- Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Strength and mass are two different things.
- brian1625, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Agreed, but Cardio before isn't great either. You wear yourself out before you get to the weights. Personally I think there needs to be a focus. If you're burning fat, high rep weights and endurance cardio are fine. If muscles, it's very low cardio and higher intensity lifting.
- zephc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://www.google.com/search?q=super+fiber+pills
- einstevo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3broccoli, chicken breasts, fish filets, and brown rice don't give you heart attacks dude. since you're a hardgainer, you've gotta eat up if you want to defy your genetics
- Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3PeteTech, you are completely wrong.
- IllBeBack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There is nothing wrong with cholesterol or saturated fat (trans fat IS bad). That's a myth.
http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=cho ... - lOvOl, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5While I agree in principle, this is not necessarily true. The most efficient way to gain muscle is to eat more than normal and the most efficient way to lose fat is to eat less than normal. However, the human body is always in a state of metabolic flux. For instance, after a carb rich meal, your body will use the carbs you are digesting and any additional unused carbs get stored as fat. When you are fasting (i.e. when your carb stores are used up), your body first starts breaking down protein for use as fuel, and then after a while switches to a state of ketosis where it burns fat primarily as a fuel. When you wake up in the morning, your body is in a state of ketosis for a while so it is often a good time to get a quick cardio workout in before your body switches to burning protein as fuel (i.e. cannibalizing muscle). So by properly taking advantage of when you eat and when you exercise, you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time if you take great care not to let your body get into a tate of cannibalizing protein for energy for too long.
Another method that works very well in gaining muscle while losing fat is the pharmacological route of steroids and growth hormone. In effect, they cause your body to basically use all available dietary protein to build muscle while causing your fat stores to dump triglycerides into your system like mad to be used as energy. Of course, if health is your goal, steroids are not a good option for long-term maintenance of a lean body.
For me, I just lift weights and don't worry about fat too much when I am putting on muscle. When my waist gets a little too big, I just do what is commonly known as HIIT these days (High Impact Interval Training) that I like to call doing wind sprints. Anaerobic exercise will burn energy far faster than aerobic exercise, just it is way more intense and most people can't handle it mentally. Nevertheless, if you want to burn fat fast, eat a high fat meal (i.e. scrambled eggs) and then do HIIT. A high fat meal causes your body to go into a state of lipolysis (i.e. your body preferentially chooses to use fat as a fuel over protein or carbs) and you will be burning fat like crazy after your run is over until you ingest some carbs which will cause you to enter a state of glycolysis (i.e. your body uses simple sugars as a fuel source).
Losing fat is easy if you know how. Unfortunately for the lazy people out there, it is very difficult to lose weight and keep it off if you don't exercise. Your body is naturally programmed to survive a famine, and as a result it will conserve every calorie it can if it appears you are not moving around too much to go hunt/gather food. - Punisher2K, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Here is the P2K plan! Free for a limited time!
1) Eat Less
2) Move More
That's a $199.95 value! - petebert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2ok admit it, which digg user posed for the picture?
- sloppychris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Agreed, terrible advice. The people who try to lose weight and burn fat at the same time will soon learn it's insanely difficult. Eat your protein, put on some muscle, then cut the fat.
