- moosebumps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30"If your stools have been floating for more than two weeks you should talk to your doctor."
I usually flush well before the two week mark. - primehifi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21So....... i could have anemia, lupus, leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, hiatal hernia, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetes, hypoglycemia, prostate cancer, ichthyosis vulgaris, psoriasis, etc. etc. etc.
Great. - robwatts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16omg the hypochondriacs dream
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8According to this article I am clinically dead.
- deviouskoopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"Do you deal with constipation so often that you feel like you should have stock in a laxative company?"
"If you find yourself running to the bathroom with bouts of diarrhea and the smell of it would knock the most stoic medical professionals off their feet..."
The 2 greatest lines in a health report, possibly ever. - Flummoxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Do you feel like your lower back, legs, feet and ankles are growing larger? If so, you may be suffering from edema."
For all intents and purposes, edema is swelling. It's not even a disease like the others, it's just yet another symptom of a larger problem. - adiosjefe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I suffer from all of these symptoms...I felt fine a few minutes ago?!?!
- shiverspies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9But... It's never Lupus.
- wbeavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I was going to say "you should talk to your plumber"
- cmw72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm enough of a hypochondriac to know that I should avoid this article.
I've learned by now not to run to WebMD every time i get this sniffles, as invariably I walk away thinking I have nose cancer or something equally horrible when I really just have a head cold. - SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5One important one that was left off that could have killed me:
Unexplained calf pain (or behind the knee or even further up the leg)
And by unexplained, I mean that you didn't sprain it or do any sort of physical exertion that you would typically cause sore muscles.
And the pain may not be constant, it may only be when you are walking. Be even more alarmed if there is swelling and/or that area is warmer (this part may not occur right off the bat)
This could be a blood clot - Deep Vein Thrombosis. This can be very dangerous if the clot breaks loose (which is why massagers have warnings about using on unexplained leg pain).
This is mostly associated with situations where you are sitting for long periods of time (like stuck on an airplane), especially if you are elderly or have circulation problems.
However, there are genetic and auto-immune conditions (that have no symptoms otherwise) that can make you prone to DVT even if you are not sitting for long periods of time. - opiv421, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"Floating Stools – Since stool behavior is not something that people discuss, you may not know that floating stools is truly not the norm. When stools hit the water they should sink. If your stools have been floating for more than two weeks you should talk to your doctor. It could be a sign of Celiac Disease, Cystic Fibrosis or other medical problems."
Does anyone leave ***** in the toilet for 2 weeks? - whisperedlie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Understanding these 50 Medical Symptoms will create deep paranoia that made lead to severe depression and require therapy.
- ConfusedONE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Granted this article does make people paranoid about simple ailments, a medical history isn't that bad of a thing because it can help rule out or determine possible illnesses in the future. The bills however, that's another issue.
However, acupuncture, "herbs", natural pathy blah blah, it's a complementary medicine not real medicine. Now, I'm not trying to cover for "them", you know the ones who hide the truth about "natural cures" from everyone. I am actually in med school learning about this stuff. I don't think a lot of things you listed will do much for health, except for that hygiene and the normal exercise.
So moral of the story, this article really is stirring up the pot for a couple extreme cases most of us will not encounter. But if you are TRULY afraid of this stuff, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. - manifest020, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm sorry people, but the medical profession is a business just like anything else. The only difference is their consumer market is everyone and their great sales point is pain and the fear of death. Top that with vague, mistake ridden (fraudulent) medical bills, written by people who know they're going to get paid off because there's a magical insurance company and you have an industry that, as you can probably tell, I'm not very fond of.
Do you have problems paying attention?
Ritalin, Aderall, Concerta, Straterra
Do you suffer from chronic depression?
Celexa, Lexapro, Luvox, Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft
Overweight? Grumpy? Manic? Back pain? Headaches?
I'll tell you what, how about you just give me all of your money while I give you drugs that cover up the problems instead of fix them.
And for you medical students out there, just because you're not taught alternative medicines doesn't mean they don't work. There seems to be a cetain pride about western medicine that limits its perspectives. Open up your minds, ask yourselves what the big hype is about if it doesn't work. I'm not saying one is better than the other because I don't know.
Here's a question to ponder over:
If there was a device created that would cure any disease/ailment and was cheap to build, would it be publically released and freely available? - mkameli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Generally good, but I thought I'd read somewhere that healthy stool was supposed to be light brown, firm, and floating. Anyone else heard that?
- RichStevenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Testicle pain could be brought on by a twisting of the testicles, an infection, fluid collecting in the testicles, a hernia or an unrelieved erection."
Unrelieved erection? Think I'll let the wife take care of that one and opt out of asking the doc for help. - datastorageguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My God I probably only have 2 weeks to live...
- dongcha9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great now I think I have diabeties...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They're also trying to advocate saving water apparently.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey! Do you feel something? It might be _______!
Talk about a hypochondriac's wet dream. - Hitchhiker90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn, I hate reading articles like this because I am the stereotypical hypochondriac you always read about. Whenever I read about some medical sign I start to think I have whatever is they are talking about. Lower back pain? yep! But that's probably from being velcroed to an office chair for 8 hours a day. Hair loss? Looked in the tub yesterday after my shower and it wasn't pretty. Anyways, I can go on and on, anyone know how to keep a maniac, I mean hypochondriac like me calm about medical issues?
- clueless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3so this is how house does it ... cool
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3dont forget to cleans your liver with coffee as to yield cancer
- inactive, on 09/24/2008, -0/+2>If there was a device created that would cure any disease/ailment and was cheap to build, would it be publically released and freely available?
It would only be free if you smuggled it in from Canada. - meshman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Excessive Yawning"
I get this every time I... [insert funny phrase here]
It's not a bad article, it's good information. It's how a person takes this information. If you're freaking out about how you think you now have diabetes and a host of other horrible things, it's not the article that's the problem. But taken responsibly it's good info everyone should at least be aware of. - manov2k, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1That's crazy....CRAZY....self medication is even terrible!
Acid reflux or heartburn isn't such hard symptom to cure....with little change in your diet & lifestyle you can completely cure heartburn...there is natural remedy for heart burn...please read this informative articl guyz http://fatlosspro.com/easy-acid-reflux-diet.html - Sprules04, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So according to this article I show signs of diabetes. - neoq36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow after reading this I wonder if I can qualify for disability at the age 30
- BOFH2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1edema is swelling. It's not even a disease like the others, it's just yet another symptom of a larger problem.
How about not moving around? - verifex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article just made me think of this: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/49135
- drgruney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh God, I'm impotent!
- akzidenzgrotesk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1according to that article, i do too, except that i know for a fact that i'm hypoglycemic because i just had my blood glucose levels tested a couple of months ago. frequent urination and excessive thirst can also be caused by consuming too much salt or caffeine, apparently.
- manifest020, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me too. My ***** floats when I eat healthy.
- pb6859, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2#41, If your stools float for more than 2 weeks.........flush your toilet
- Brows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got number 5 :(
and 8.... - dynamok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I guess I'm dying at 30 since I have a lot of these :)
- Sprules04, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1well then, I'm *****!
- BOFH2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is a horrible article. All this will help you do is incur medical bills and add to your medical history. Try some acupuncture, herbs, natural pathy, tai chi, yoga, stretching, pilates, or just some good hygiene.
while I think this article is a hypchondriacs shopping list; ever notice people that are into natural healing know most about what each symptom means and what you should take for it? - Smut666, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They forgot to add: 'Feeling cold, maybe not wanting to move much? Has your heart stopped making those pesky beating noises? You may have a rare form of death. Yes, you may be dead. You should seek immediate medical attention as this could become a permanent condition."
- AngelEyes2760, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0akzidenzgrotesk - can you PLEASE tell me the name of the meds you're using that seems to be helping with the "waves?" I'm having them daily and I'm about to go out of my mind! Thanks!

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Fantastic, another 50 things to worry about. Just what I needed.
- zeero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1good to know. this is better than taking ***** advil 10x a day for your head aches, then find out later you have a humongous tumor.
or the people that take pain killers for muscle pain...hmm maybe your muscles are trying to tell you something? that you've been sitting on your ass in the same position all day and need to stretch, or pulled a muscle.. the drug companies don't want to cure the illness, they treat the symptoms only. its good to listen to your body and not ignore it -
