(no really... latest I heard was that the 8 glasses thing was *****) - zomgflamer, on 02/04/2008, -0/+7"Don't drink alcohol" .......... fail.
- romistrub, on 02/04/2008, -0/+6Trying too hard to appeal to Digg users, I guess.
- inactive, on 02/04/2008, -2/+7Eat more frequently, but healthy foods and in smaller portions, and exercise. Everyone knows this--it's the application that's lacking. Do we really need an article?
- ronaldmonster, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5Any movement is good for you're body.
- debuggercll, on 02/04/2008, -1/+6This is more of a turnkey synergistic enterprise solution.
- Marijuana, on 02/04/2008, -0/+4I like hacking my body.
- likwidfuzion, on 02/04/2008, -0/+41. Clean, well-balanced diet
2. Weight train and cardio
3. Desire, discipline, and dedication
4. Results - cotaskmemalloc, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3... blank stare ...
- Akintunde, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3Good, i've been trying to get my metabolism back up...
- piesforyou, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3but then you kill them and lose all that weight in one go. it's disgusting though.
- capiCrimm, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4I'll one up you and summarize it in two words:
Tape Worms. - endlessoul, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3I like hacking AT my body.
- clkou, on 02/04/2008, -4/+7Also worth mentioning:
1) Drink 8 glasses of water every day
2) Get 8 hours of sleep every day - NOT too much MORE or LESS - Terr01, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2Amen. My rule of thumb: If it's not related to algorithms and technology, it's a misuse by people who think it endows their efforts with some sort of mystical "hacker aura" of leetness.
Except when referring to writers, in which case it's grandfathered in. - themastersb, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2gb2/1950s/
- lonedust, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I like my door-mounted chin/pull up bar. I do a few whenever I need a break from surfing the web all day.
- RobotBuddha, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I could easily be wrong on this, but I think tapeworms don't really work very well for weight loss. They're grabbing far more nutrients than they are calories, and can wind up with a fair amount of mass themselves eventually.
- smoger, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2i hacked 60 pounds off my body in the past year, so far.
- ours, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2"moderate eating"
That's contrary to what the article says. And I agree with the article. I've tried it and it works. Workout hard, eat harder. But eat healthy! Quantity != quality. - romistrub, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I don't know why, but I had to read your post 3 times to understand it. You can't burn fat and gain muscle at the same time, though. They are opposing processes in the calorie requirements.
- starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2Because they're talking about 10 minute interval training, which a lot of personal trainers advocate.
Personally I think a mixture is better (sometimes doing interval training also referred to as hiit, sometimes doing regular). - ProfessorFoo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I agree. It's just so easy to just do a set of pull-ups/chin-ups every time I walk under it. Now I just have to work out my shoulders, triceps, chest, legs, abs, and go running and I'll be good ^_^
- ProfessorFoo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2Buried for using "Buried for ______"
- romistrub, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2your biceps / lats must be disproportionately large :P ... you should add some push-ups to that.
Sorry, I've been on a workout binge, I can't help but spit my two cents. - romistrub, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2Lots of people think "moderate eating" means 1500 calories per day, though.
- starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1It is a misconception that slow exercise will burn more fat. A higher percentage of what you burn will come from fat, but the overall calories and overall calories from fat will actually be less. (Well, at least for the difference between 10 min hiit and 30 min slow-- 10 vs 60 might be another story.)
- RobotBuddha, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1It's not that hard, just get over the idea that eating is supposed to be a hobby, or at all enjoyable. I just toss some grapenuts into a measured thermos. When it's time to eat, I just start eating it while I work without taking a lunch break.
- superbobd, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Or you could just get sick like me. I've had a a cold for the past week and lost 6 lbs doing jack *****....woop woop.
- starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1you didn't read the article, did you?
First section is about NOT lowering caloric intake too much, which is a mistake many dieters make. - starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Instead of avoiding high intensity exercises, focus on low impact exercises.
And hiit cardio burns a lot of fat too. I don't know what the percentage is off-hand, but 20 minutes of hiit burns more fat than 20 minutes of slow cardio. - securitymonkey, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1From the article's comments:
BY SWEEP AT 02/02/08 03:15 PM
How about a way to slow down your metabolism?
BY DEPRONG MORI AT 02/02/08 04:10 PM
Get old.
Isn't that the truth. - starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1"... A 10 minute [intense] bike ***interval*** session..."
- starf, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1What it does is keep your metabolism (and blood sugar levels) steady throughout the day, which affects fat burning and muscle building, which is the focus of most people's intent when discussing metabolism. Technically, it doesn't boost your metabolism, so much as keep it from dropping intermittently throughout the day.
- tian2992, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1well, except when it comes to wood...
- ProfessorFoo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I don't think the article was saying to completely stop eating carbs. It sounded more along the lines of increase the ratio of proteins:carbs. Of course you need proteins, carbs, and fats to function correctly, but to gain muscle it helps out if you have a lot of free protein floating about.
- ProfessorFoo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1This article is not about losing weight or improving your cardiovascular system or strength. This article is about boosting your metabolism (which is more related to gaining muscle than losing fat). Eating less will not boost your metabolism; it will crush it. Eating small meals throughout the day and doing intense workouts will keep your metabolism high and gain muscle (which will increase metabolism in the long run).
