- Landthatilove, on 05/21/2009, -1/+56Good thing he didn't want to know what it'd be like to be a midget.
- MyNameIsJoe, on 05/22/2009, -2/+45 For those more used to weighing yourself in pounds, he gained about 90 pounds going from 175 pounds to 265 pounds.
- gelato822, on 05/22/2009, -0/+38how did it all go to his belly? - his upper body still looks pretty fit. that is quite the gut!
- arkaycee, on 05/22/2009, -0/+35In other news, addiction counselor smokes crack for a year to see how that goes.
- SamSks, on 05/22/2009, -0/+33I eat a lot of fruits a veggies. Let me tell you this, I don't remember what a solid ***** feels like.

- jsynnott, on 05/22/2009, -0/+15Geeze, I'm sure not many athletic people would ever consider doing anything like this for any amount of money. He's probably actually worse off than people who have always been quite fat. If people grow up being overweight, at least their body has time to adapt through the formation of stronger supporting muscles in the legs and back, but his body simply wouldn't have time to do that, as is evident from his back and ankle pain.
He'll have a tough time getting back to his original weight, as he's bound to suffer far more injuries as a result of the extra weight. - tloftxj, on 05/22/2009, -0/+15dugg for honesty.
- Chirp08, on 05/22/2009, -1/+14I'd imagine though his clientele are the kinds of people willing to try that self control and discipline. The real "actual fat" lazy ones would never be in a gym to begin with.
- psycosulu, on 05/22/2009, -0/+13That is what happened to me over the course of 4 years. When I left boot camp, I was 178 lbs and was 255 lbs once I left the Navy. My main problem is that I went from a strict diet and exercise regiment in boot camp to plenty of available food on the mess decks and being too tired to exercise after 16 hour workdays. That combined with the introduction of soda in my diet caused me to balloon. Sadly, I have a desk job now and I feel drained compared to the excessive energy I used to have. I'm fixing this dilemma and I encourage all of you other hefty people to not give up.
- jaymzdean, on 05/22/2009, -8/+21"his record is four large pizzzs, or 810 g of fat"
Not to mention the 1600 grams of sugar, in the form of starch (crust).
Sugar is worse than fat. - Llanowar, on 05/22/2009, -4/+16I don't think it really gives the full feel of an "actual" fat person.
This guy has self control and discpline. Most fat people simple don't.
Yeah, I know there are diseases that make people fat without them being able to do much about it. But the grand majority are simply lazy people who can't be arsed to work out and eat way too much.
I salute him for giving it a try though. - lizard450, on 05/22/2009, -1/+12If you're overweight or feel unhealthy give this a shot. I have had great success and I'm not trying to sell you a damn thing. Buy a bunch of fruits and veggies and eat them. Like 2-3 apples, 2-3 cups of grapes, 2-3 cucumbers, 2-3 carrots, 2-3 plumbs, broccoli, bananas too you get the idea. Don't bother preparing them or anything like that. Just wake up and start eating. While you're at work ... eat. If nothing special is going on at lunch eat. If you're watching TV ... eat. Reading a book... eat. Until you've eaten a LOT of fruits and veggies. On top of that eat whatever you like. Try and think of eating the ridiculous fruits and veggies like a ultra lazy exercise that is actually effective. I have had a reasonable amount of ice cream once a week maybe a half a pint. I drink mostly water, and if your piss isn't clear you should drink more water because it will save you from kidney stones. Drinking a lot fruit and veggie juice probably will defeat the purpose of this way of eating. If you drink like a bunch of soda make sure its diet 0 calorie. I did actually drink 2-3 beers a few days a week. I ate pizza fairly regularly during this time, but I couldn't eat nearly as much as I normally do. I noticed outstanding results after 2 weeks and am still seeing results remarkable results after three. Good luck! Really just think of it as one of those gimmick exercise products... workout while you're watching TV!
- mikerad86, on 05/22/2009, -0/+10It's called the "apple" shape. Men tend to gain weight in their abdomen while women gain weight in their abdomen, hips, and butt.
- dsmx, on 05/22/2009, -0/+10this is a new body fat analysis test, I'll start you jiggling and I'll time how long it takes to stop.
- wastern, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9sure he does, but in the article it does mention that his energy level has dropped off and he'd now rather sit on the couch vs going out.
If you're working out regularly and eating correctly you have more energy and want to get out and do things. If you are eating like crap and not excessing that also translates into less energy and a lack of drive to do things.
Its kind of ***** how it works. The hardest part is getting going, once you're excessing regularly and eating properly, maintaining it isn't too bad since you have the extra energy - crossmr, on 05/22/2009, -3/+11Your sister?
- RaulMuadDib, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7Woo hoo! Look at it go!
- MikalYungHistri, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7Simpsons did it.
- patrick84gf, on 05/22/2009, -1/+7Yeah, and to better understand blind people we shall poke an eye out.
- mparker21311, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Yeah, because at that point he would have it up to here! *points to my hip*
- BDOUG, on 05/22/2009, -1/+6The all-too-common combination of too much sugar, too much fat, and too much salt in a single meal is what's truly deadly. Dr. David Kessler's book explains in great detail the self-destructive human and animal behaviors that result when regularly consuming these unnatural foods.

For just one example, rats will work almost as hard to get a chance to eat these ultra-tempting foods as they will to get another hit of cocaine. - earlyworm, on 05/22/2009, -2/+7My problem with this is that people have a sort of 'set point' that their bodies tend to naturally hover around. I'm slender and eat crap all the time and only minimally work out. I have friends on all spectrums of the weight range. Fat friends who play rugby, jog, and dance for an hour a day. And then I have a couple of skinny friends who eat bonbons and pizza and sleep for exercise.
So my point is that a person who is naturally thinner is really going to have to overeat in a heroic way to get their weight to go up, and a naturally fatter person is going to have to almost starve to get down to an even barely 'normal' bmi.
This fit gym bunny guy is going to keep this up for a while and then go back to eating and working out moderately and watch his weight gain just fall off. This will make him run around saying things like, 'see how easy it was? You can do it too!' When in reality, for a naturally bigger person it's just NOT that easy. - tricksternole, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5Some people just wear a fat suit to simulate being obese.
- Chirp08, on 05/22/2009, -2/+7Yes, YOU probably are.
- Thepirateking, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5As a guy who's been fat as long as he can remember and is now finally trying to get fit I can tell you, that even with the extra muscles in my calves and back (and yes you can see them in my legs) I still get sore leggs and back and ankles. It sucks. It's miserable. I never want to get up and do stuff. Now I'm making myself do stuff, and cut back on my consumption. I should hit my goal by christmas 2010.
- TheCollective00, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5Can I subscribe to your newsletter?
- paku, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6"I really believe that fat is a drug that should almost be banned."
- MikeDugg, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6I hated that quote. Fat is necessary for life. The real things that cause you to get fat are sugar. I went from eating 'low fat' foods to cooking with oils and fatty fish and I've lost 60 pounds.
- Dalisca, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4"...a former Biggest Loser contestant criticised him for trivialising weight problems."
Um... Really, can a person possibly trivialize weight problems more than appearing on reality television about it, appearing internationally as a freak show spectacle, and competing in stupid games and recorded drama? This guy is trying to understand his clients, which is very admirable. I have a friend who took up smoking cigarettes for one month, just so he could have a slight understanding of what his friends and family were going through when they would try to quit (and usually fail a few times).
I think I know what the problem is... This Biggest Loser contestant is obviously terminally stupid. - SamSks, on 05/22/2009, -4/+8No. This is what happened. The guy got sick of working out all the time and he just felt like sitting around for a while and drink beer and watch football games. Well, folks started to notice and he didn't want to lose face or his clients and hence, his livelihood. So, he came up with this reason. And it worked! It probably boosted business through the roof!
This BUD's for you Mr get-fat-for-his-clients-even-though-he-did-it-because-he's-slipped-trainer. - RaulMuadDib, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4How did you meet a fried?
- Boundtoeternity, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4Natural sugars are good for your body. Synthesized sugar that comes from Little Debbie Cakes and Oreo cookies is what you need to stay away from.
You can't just limit sugar to fruit, though. Carrots have sugar, too, despite the fact that they are a vegetable.
Either way, I'd rather eat tons of tasty fruit any day over some of the veggies out there, and I actually find them to be more satisfying than junk food. Not to mention, the sugars in fruits helps give dieters that "quick fix" when they want something sweet and are fighting to not grab a 200+ calorie bag of M&M's from the vending machine at work. - trentrezn0r, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Lame...
(And BTW, where'd the CAPTCHA go?) - moulinneuf, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Before and after pics :
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2 ... - zip000, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3I do that experiment from time to time. I always feel a little better - at least I'm not as fat as Homer.
- N0DIGGITY, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4I thought the sugar man delivered it

- absurdist, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Can we get ANOTHER IP ban, please?
- RyomaNagare, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3When will people understand that not every person overweight is just lack of willpower or something.
There is a compulsion, you can't change unless someone helps you. with medicine. what made me realize this is meeting a fried with the exact opposite compulsion. to not eat. its like male anorexia or something.
he has to force himself to eat, but most times can't force himself into it. sure sometimes he manages to push the 2200 kcal he needs to increase his weight, just like many overweight people manage to restrain themselves some days. but then it comes a day he is just not hungry and barely eats 1600 kcal and looses all the weight again, just like some people say ***** it and eat a whole pizza. - zip000, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3The hardest part for me has always been the second week. The first week, I can get up and get going. I feel like ass and I'm tired all the time and sore, and twice as hungry as usual...but I can get through it.
The second week, I almost always get discouraged and start making allowances and exceptions and rationalizing bad decisions.
I've been a little to a lot over weight for most of my life...the only time that I wasn't was for about 2 years in graduate school when I did the Atkins diet and went to the gym for an hour or more every day...sometimes twice a day. As soon as I stopped Atkins though I went back to a little plump and in the 6-8 years since then have gone back to chubby with very low energy levels.
(tmi, I know) - Locupleto, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Eating a ton of fruit will give you gas like you have never had it before.
- philkav, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3Bit extreme...
- whimmel, on 05/23/2009, -1/+3maybe because he gained it all in 4 months. it hasn't had a chance to distribute throughout his body
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4
Hey, the Stupid Commentator store called, they're running out of you.
hehe - prolikewhoa, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4He probably just got fat and then said it was an experiment.
- fireport, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3not worth it.. stretch marks, will lose a ton of muscle dieting back down... he should of at least weight lifted while eating that much hed be a monster now and when he dieted down ripped as hell!!
- pat25fire, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2Good luck man
- Serinus, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4You can understand what he means without taking it literally.
