- uberchaoslord, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20I think G-spot is now trademark Google corp, so please don't use it or suffer the legal wrath.
- john95127, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Can I put waypoints on the places that i've been?
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10So what do diggers think of the idea of using a virtual 3D human as a model to unify their medical information?
/ I, for one, would love to be able to zoom all the way in and do the whole Fantastic Voyage thing. I don't think this IBM thing can do that, but maybe someone else will? - litolist, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Dugg for the titty shot. :-P
- hmmdar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9woot i can play doctor and not get slapped!
- MerryMortician, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Just like on google earth.. I prefer to go to the places myself. you know.. the hands on approach.
- wild, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5And the government will spend $600,000 to change its appearance.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Functional MRI is getting much better. No chips required (and none wanted ;)
There are other ways of scanning down to the cellular level too, but not for the whole brain at once. My guess is the system would capture your overall structure, blood vessels, tissues etc.. and then procedurally make up the finer details. - bogatash, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Maybe if it was made by Google.
- tomboy501, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I was thinking the same thing - Fantastic Voyage. This concept is definitely the not-so-far-away future. I wonder if they will have to chip us to pull it off? hmmm...maybe as long as I could play with it at home too - and not just in my doctor's office...like Google Earth...instead take a tour of my blood vessels and organs......how cool would that be :)

- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I must be missing something, because this is a long way from new. There's been 3D anatomy software out to do everything from basic education to surgery simulation.
- lithuin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Welcome to scenic Colon!
It's pronounced kə-lōn'! - Dokument, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah, i tried a couple years ago. Failed miserably.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, the EHuman folks are referenced in the article, if you got that far. But I don't see where they've gone beyond volumetric rendering of body parts, like skulls or feet. Not quite the same as doing the whole body.
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, for medical records, if you got an MRI, the system would store it. If you never got one, do you really care if the data is real or made up?
- feshmania, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah, but i think the idea is to make it "cheap" and easy...MRIs aren't cheap at all and require some patience to process...or am I completely off base?
- FoxMcCloud1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The guys at IBM aren't the first to take this approach to mapping the human body. http://video.nbc11.com/player/?id=155453

- actics, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1This would be great. It would help dispel the myth that circumcision 'just removed a little bit of skin'. That is, unless they just leave the foreskin out of the model, like in many old textbooks.
