- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -4/+21Excellent. Without the fear of dying, I can use Digg forever.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/18/2007, -1/+9yup. i'm steady hoping they'll have everything cured by the time i get old.
- Noiremorte, on 10/19/2007, -1/+7Sweet! Maybe now I can live long enough to see if there's life on that earth-like planet 20 light years away!
- DCGaymer, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Statistically speaking...developed countries with "reasonably" well educated populations tend to have children when they're older...and have fewer children when they do. Given that a "cure or treatment " for old age or cancer would probably only be available to person's in developed countries...it's highly doubtful that life extension treatment's would exacerbate the problem of overpopulation. One could also make a reasonably good argument that people who live longer would tend to buy fewer consumer product's too.
- DCGaymer, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Dammit, why do worms, mice, rat's and dog's get all the cures.
- jstahnke10, on 10/19/2007, -3/+6Ok, so i'm not a big fan of cancer or any other means of people dying and I like the idea of finding a cancer cure; but if we can slow aging, wont the world will REALLY be over populated? Old people everywhere, with nobody dying!
- Lisztman, on 10/18/2007, -1/+4So basically this drug slows down apoptosis.
Interesting approach, but I wonder what drawbacks there are to this. That process happens for a reason. - maheshee11, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Telomerase enzyme is also one of the enzymes involved in the aging process. It replicates the ends of chromosomes known as telomeres.
- empraptor, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2People will die one way or another. Don't worry. Too many people, not enough energy/food. Some people somewhere will die.
- HonkIfUrHorny, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Now if they can just find a cure for baldness we'll be in business!
- philbutler, on 10/19/2007, -2/+3This would mean a great deal to people with little hope of longevity :)
- jlhoben, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1Would not cause overpopulation if it also caused impotence :p
- hollowex, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1No more stinky babies...
- Pimpalicious316, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1They already found a remedy for this back in 1973. They called it "Soylent Green." It's people, ya know.
- JoeHeavyFlow, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Chuck Norris Action Genes?
- omega6, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1That's actually a good idea. If they get this working with humans it would mean the ability to travel distant areas with less worries about aging. Of course we'd need to as then the population would grow out of control.
- MorbenDK, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1but getting it wrong is the best part!... at least thats what my mutant friend says
- WindChimes, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1ZOmbies, this is where is all begins.
