- RolandReeve, on 11/06/2009, -3/+14I survived swine flu
no bigz - vsujohn2, on 11/06/2009, -2/+11What if this flu is not like the others?
What if this flu is not just another one of those germs?
Its a pandemic
What if this flu then becomes epidemic? - Bukowsky, on 11/05/2009, -2/+11Dave Grohl has the swine flu?!?!
- yocouchdigga, on 11/06/2009, -1/+9He was too weak to give in
Too strong to lose - lukeatron, on 11/06/2009, -0/+5@DonAlfred, way to be completely wrong on the facts.
- lexpattison, on 11/06/2009, -2/+7It's alarmist until it isn't. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure - Far more money is spent each year on less important projects.
- srt4b, on 11/06/2009, -0/+5cool story bro
- WhoDoneIt, on 11/06/2009, -2/+6You sure about that?
Did you get tested and was your results postive for the H1N1 virus?
People are tossin this around like it's as common as the seasonal flu. It's not... it's not the seasonal flu and just because you feel ill or have a "flu" doesn't mean it's the H1N1. Read the stats.. odds are against you and EVERYONE you know having had the H1N1.
Not calling you a liar, but I'm getting sick of people instantly saying they have, had the H1N1. There have only been a few hundred confirmed cases in all of Canada... out of 30 million people. - anonymousmedic, on 11/06/2009, -6/+10Infowars. Where Science is nonexistant, and everyone's out to get us.
- lexpattison, on 11/06/2009, -3/+7What's wrong with thimerasol - they only took it out to appease a bunch of loonies. It's ethyl mercury - not even any where near as harmful as methyl mercury. Jesus people - get your science on.
- dvsbastard, on 11/06/2009, -9/+13***** the Media Flu...
I, and almost everyone I know contracted swine flu with absolutely no complications... Keep in mind some of the world has already gone through their peak flu season while the spread of the virus was at its apparent worst... and it was NOT doom and gloom... - anonymousmedic, on 11/06/2009, -10/+14Sadly, the American public has more than graciously proven it's attraction to pseudoscience and superstitious nonsense that celebutards such as Susanne Sommers, Jenny McCarthy and others promote over hard science. It's all a big conspiracy to keep us down, while the evil corporations make money.
More children will be harmed by this anti-science scare, and the poorly informed people who jump to conclusions, than any would have ever been by rare adverse effects.
The old addage here is ultimately true - A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. - ckb123, on 11/06/2009, -3/+7Except that it's killing young people rather then old people. It's as deadly to the elderly, but they have a much smaller chance of getting it. The problem is that it's hitting young adults (people under 24) a LOT more than the regular flu.
So no, it's not only dangerous to old folks and infants. And that's why it's different and scary. - bringitontimx, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4He's my hero
- relvlix, on 11/06/2009, -1/+4Yeah, "hands you the nasal version". Here you go

(ps, I don't know the plural of flu, but "flu-s" fits, so :p) - PhoenixAvatar2, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3Not sure what you had, but it wasn't any form of flu.
- Vitrael, on 11/06/2009, -4/+7Buried for pointless alarmism
- lexpattison, on 11/06/2009, -1/+4Wow - one study in Russia in 1977 and on FETAL monkeys which concludes: "The mechanism of these effects and the requirements for Th is not known and requires further study." because there was no direct correlation to thimeresol, and no non-thimerasol control. Here is some current REAL science:
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vsd/thimerosal_ou ...
"A total of 378 statistical tests were conducted. Each child was tested on 42 neuropsychological outcomes, 3 exposure periods and the full model plus gender specific analyses. Among the 42 outcomes measured, the study found that the majority of the outcomes had NO association with thimerosal exposure and most associations would be what is expected by chance alone."
The only statistical relevant findings were INCREASES in spacial and fine motor coordination... maybe everyone should be getting it? - replica48, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3I don't get how they come up with all these "confirmed" cases meaning something important. I for one have rarely ever gone to the doctor when I've gotten sick. I just give it a couple days and get over it. I'm sure most other people do the exact same thing, so even if 300 are confirmed, 10000 others might have just dealt with it for the few days it lasted and then went back to living their life.
- inferno10, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2H1N1 sucks. The N stands for Nickelback.
- srt4b, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2The only thing I'll ever ask of you You've got to promise not to cough when I say when

- UpperUpsilon, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3Look...
This is why L4D2 is coming. To prepare us. Swine Flu, after running its symptomatic course, becomes dormant, ready to take over the host at a signal sent by... - TobiasParker, on 11/06/2009, -3/+5Except they need to modify it every year for the new strain. you cannot get a random flu vaccine and have it protect against all flu's. The process for creating vaccines has been around since long before the 70's.
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic_vac ...
"Developing, testing, and manufacturing sufficient quantities of a vaccine for H1N1/09 is a process which takes many months."
Wow we have had the vaccine since the 70's, so why would they need to test? Because you are talking out of your ass. - ThisURLNotFound, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3Yea, I have had the piggy flu as well. No big deal. Just like regular flu.
- Hybridle, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3They'll have their own reality show next.

- dralezero, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Everyone should watch this.
- TobiasParker, on 11/06/2009, -2/+4To quote myself in another article: "my best friends son who has leukimia and diagnosed H1N1 was in and out of the hospital in 2 days.
Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean *****, All i have to do is look at Deaths/Infection ratio. It isn't scary." - johnyc252, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I currently have the piggy flu, it sucks superbly.
- TobiasParker, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2What real facts. Name any of the real facts about the vaccine, or this proposed H1N1 scare.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic#Sym ...
"The symptoms of swine flu are similar to other influenzas, and may include a fever, coughing (typically a "dry cough"), headaches, muscle or joint pain, sore throat, chills, fatigue, and runny nose. Diarrhea, vomiting, and neurological problems were also reported in some cases.[73][74] People at higher risk of serious complications include people age 65 and older, children younger than 5 years old, children with neurodevelopmental conditions, pregnant women (especially during the third trimester),[75][10] and people of any age with underlying medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, or a weakened immune system (e.g., taking immunosuppressive medications or infected with HIV).[9] Most hospitalizations in the US were people with such underlying conditions, according to the CDC.[76]"
Refute these facts.
and @ckb123: Because i am a healthy 24 year old adult without underlying medical issues. If i get the flu my immune system will fight it off and be the better for it. - TobiasParker, on 11/06/2009, -5/+7I am not afraid of science, I am afraid of a media-hype designed to sell vaccines that were barely tested. Swine Flu is not any more dangerous than the seasonal flu.
- helster83, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3Well, you might find this helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0JqQyl09zQ
- javidpk, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1We should fight like Kung Fu against SWINE FLU:)
- anonymousmedic, on 11/06/2009, -5/+6Argue the science on a site that even Wikipedia has banned as a source? Sure, why not. I mean, this is a site that would allow the NAMBLA website (Not the one for the National Association of Marlin Brando Look-Alikes) as a citable source on pedophilia, but it won't allow Infowars or Whale.to as a citable source on Vaccinations. Oh, except for the fact that Thiomerisol doesn't metabolize or bioaccumulate the same as elemental or methyl mercury, and has been disproven as a causitive link to autism.
- muzza001, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1thanks doctor PheonixAvatar2, you're a regular House. Well it was, I got a blood test and tested positive for H1N1
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 11/06/2009, -3/+4So the vaccines contain 25 micrograms of a mercury derivative. So what? You'll get twice that from eating a 6 ounce can of tuna.
http://www.pbs.org/now/science/mercuryinfish.html - anonymousmedic, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2Hospital ERs use a quickflu swab that has an accuracy rate of 45%, and then follow up with a Flu PCR that is far more accurate. Unfortunately for all these anectodal stories, the hospitals outside of very large metropolitan centers tasked with public health lab testing cannot serotype for the Influenza being H1n1 or not - they simply say Influenza A. States have stopped serotyping the virus in most patients because of the sheer workload on state labs. They simply assume H1N1 because its so early in the season.
True H1N1 is dangerous for people in the age groups not traditionally associated with flu death. It's mechanism of action is totally different than seasonal. - shig, on 11/06/2009, -2/+3There is no such thing as non-toxic mercury compounds. As far as studies that have been conducted on ethyl mercury, I can cite one study that was conducted on fetal monkeys that suffered brain damage after being given Hep-B vaccines. The damage was directly attributed to thimerosal.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19800915?ordina ...
There was a human study conducted in Russia in 1977 that found adults who had been given vaccines containing thimerosal suffered tubular necrosis in neural pathways and nervous system injury, including obtundation, coma and death. As a result of the study, Russia banned thimerosal from children’s vaccines in 1980.
Now, where's your ethyl mercury studies? Where's your science? Ya got nothing... - InactiveUser, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1SENSATIONAL!
- ckb123, on 11/06/2009, -3/+4But you (or at least should) get the seasonal flu vaccine every year, why should a second strain (going around with and as deadly as the first) be any different?
- diggnutty, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Cootie Patrol: IN 3-D!
- richmomz, on 11/06/2009, -1/+2More fearmongering. Goes good with today's story about fake outrage over some bankers on Wall Street that got the swine flu vax in spite of the current "shortage" - no prob, they can have mine.
- TyrelVnne, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1I got prescribed narcotics when i got it, best couple days of my life.
- lukeatron, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1My brother had it. He said it sucked quite a bit. So does the regular flu when you get it bad. The thing that's worrying about this H1N1 strain is that it can be very bad, even for people who are otherwise healthy. There's probably some reason that it ends up effecting some people so much more but as far as I know, it's not been identified. It's essentially the luck of the draw. This is what makes it scary (in a reasonable non-panic inducing sense).
