- scaaven2, on 03/17/2008, -5/+41what, you did an autopsy?
- brinewr, on 03/17/2008, -11/+46It's amazing to me how nature has already solved the majority of problems that we face. All we have to do is ask. (And possibly slaughter a few fish, though. But I guess we do that already)
- Falldog, on 03/17/2008, -1/+35Teach 'em to smoke, then we'll see what's up.
- Nitrodist88, on 03/17/2008, -1/+32Bears have fur. Hair growth formula in bear blood.
- inactive, on 03/17/2008, -2/+30That's pretty interesting. But after reeling in some pretty sick-looking fish over the years, I find that proposition hard to believe.
- SeaweedWater, on 03/17/2008, -2/+28Thats just AIDS, you dummy.
- johndi, on 03/17/2008, -0/+25That's because it is rubbish. Even the king of "no-cancer" fish (the shark) gets cancer. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/703082.stm
- DeadlyCouncil, on 03/17/2008, -0/+16Under the sea
Under the sea
We have the answer
to cure your cancer
just wait and see... - inactive, on 03/17/2008, -4/+20So the cure for cancer is living under water!!!!!!
- DeviantDragon, on 03/17/2008, -1/+17It's not a TOOMAH!
- Daz3, on 03/17/2008, -2/+17Disgusting lump does not mean it was cancer, you can have non-cancerous tumors.
- trogdor282, on 03/17/2008, -1/+14They grow a huge disgusting lump and then die.
- Dbeneath, on 03/17/2008, -3/+16Hmm well i had a goldfish with a huge ***** tennis ball-sized tumor in its side. it swam lopsided. maybe the tumor was benign but i dunno it sure ***** him up pretty good. tried to put him out of his misery by crushing up a buncha valium and putting him to sleep but he just got high and never died. he's still alive actually :/
- republicker, on 03/17/2008, -1/+14you tried to kill a fish in a tank but failed?.......lol
- Axord, on 03/17/2008, -0/+13Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day.
Give a man a fish tumor, and he eats for a lifetime. - inactive, on 03/17/2008, -1/+13Do they even live long enough to get cancer?
- Genetico, on 03/17/2008, -0/+12I am intrigued. Nitrodist88, I would like to buy your bear blood.
- gudnbluts, on 03/17/2008, -0/+11I'm no expert, but you could try putting it in water.
- Alegoo92, on 03/17/2008, -0/+11I don't mean to sound like an ass, but your comment sounds so naïve. Human medicines have solved more ailments than nature has, albeit many of our cures have organic roots. No one said this would work, but only a point of interest.
- loveforkarma, on 03/17/2008, -0/+10Fish, Sharks, even ***** Tomatoes. They always think they found the cure.
- frazw, on 03/17/2008, -1/+10But we might all get white spot! It killed my goldfish!
- InspectorGadget, on 03/17/2008, -2/+11On average, fish live far shorter lives than human beings and have fewer cells in their bodies. It stands to reason that less cell division + shorter period of exposure to carcinogens = less common occurrence of cancer.
- itsradBrad, on 03/17/2008, -1/+9Sores ≠ Cancer
- wjlaw100, on 03/17/2008, -0/+8Hard to keep em lit down there...
- blaze03, on 03/17/2008, -3/+11This sounds really fishy to me for some reason. Reel bad research. Maybe they should work harder than to bait us with this nonsense. Although it looks like some of you have fallen for this carp hook, line, and sinker. Thank cod we have some more sensible people here at digg
- DeFex, on 03/17/2008, -0/+8This is a scam originally used to sell shark cartilage to desperate cancer patients. it is false.
- VastVoodoo, on 03/17/2008, -0/+8Humans don't get fin rot, is the cure for fin rot in our blood?
Also, fish do get cancer, including sharks. So yeah, pretty much a BS article all around. - ErrorS, on 03/17/2008, -0/+8Sure, fish don't get cancer.. that's why they created fish specially to study cancer growth. http://www.livescience.com/animals/080206-see-thru ... I think this was even on digg a couple weeks back..
- Joe_rigby, on 03/17/2008, -2/+8They don't get cancer, yet they die by the dozens from ick.
- nico623, on 03/17/2008, -11/+16The cure for cancer is an injection of money ! We all know that...
- DukeMojo, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5At least he used Valium and not a sewer system.
- d0onut, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5AIDS, huh? How... retro.
- Gerz1219, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5"The goodness of the true pun is in the direct ratio of its intolerability." — Edgar Allan Poe
- xintel, on 03/17/2008, -0/+5Just how reliable is a pro-cure for cancer site with Google Ads all over it? Also, if you look at the footer you'll see that the site is copyrighted by the website - HelpingHandCancer.com - not an LLC (for example). Some dude probably created this site to get donations + ad clicks + page views. If this is legit, then SORRY! But it doesn't quite add up from the smell of it...
- Dumbledorito, on 03/17/2008, -1/+5Perhaps it was terminal acne. Most teenagers can survive it, but not an animal as small as a fish.
- leffunov, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4It is absolute BS to expect to find a cure for cancer in a species that doesn't get cancer. Cancer is a disease, in which the RNA within cells is degraded to the point where it self replicates in exceedingly damaging fashion. There is no cure for cancer other than an effective isolated destruction of cancerous cells. The cure for cancer is not what we need. It is the same argument as " I'll deal with that when it happens." What we need to do is figure out how to prevent that breakdown within cells so a cure for cancer is no longer needed.
- subterfuge, on 03/17/2008, -1/+5yeah. if you learned ANYTHING from that episode, it should have been that curing cancer is harder than curing AIDS
- Makaveli604, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4If they never have had it, how exactly are they arguing they "resist" cancer.
- inactive, on 03/17/2008, -2/+6No. Your statement is devoid of logic.
The assertion here is, essentially, "fish resist cancer." This doesn't at all resemble your example. - civilizedevil, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4I once caught a fish with a tumor, we didn't eat it.
- makkaveli19, on 03/17/2008, -0/+4of course, it's so simple!
- KyjL, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3UNDAH DA SEEEE
UNDAH DA SEEEE - Garmonbozzia, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4I know it's just a movie, but am I the only one a little more wary of a cure for cancer after seeing I Am Legend?
- gumby05, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3Especially when this seems it could lead to Waterworld
- Joe_rigby, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4It's probably the ***** in the water causing the sores, not cancer.
- Zuljin, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3Fish do get cancer.
- frazw, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3If the occurrence of cancer is lower than in other species it is worth finding out why.
- delfin1, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4i heard they don't' get aids either.
- alclone, on 03/17/2008, -1/+4well the research sounds like crap. humans are far more sophisticated than fish and thus we can take more punch of chemicals than fish. although we might get cancer from chemical X, fish are guaranteed to die from chemical X.
