- DirtyMcGee, on 07/13/2009, -1/+9This is ridiculous...but then again all Pop music is. Don't know what I was expecting.
- krellor, on 07/13/2009, -0/+7DDT is an endocrine disruptor. It should never have been used in the large quantities that it was back in those days. The problem wasn't targeted application so much as it was the agricultural industries that rained the stuff down on their crops, etc... DDT is bad stuff when it gets into the food chain, and you should be concerned because levels of it become concentrated in apex predators (which humans are). So yeah, malaria sucks, and maybe careful controlled usage of it would be good, but that doesn't mean DDT doesn't have very real dangers, not just to the environment, but to our species as well.

Fighting malaria with .... POP music
Talk about! Pop music
Vaccinate! Pop music... - AnotherDiggGuy, on 07/13/2009, -2/+8Malaria worldwide was almost completely wiped out in the 40s and 50s when DDTs started being used.
You can thank liberal hippies (mainly Rachel Carson) in the 60s for banning DDTs and killing millions of people annually once malaria came back in full force. - DirtyMcGee, on 07/13/2009, -2/+7True. But it also caused Cancer.
- inactive, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5I'm pretty sure DDT-resistant mosquitoes would have appeared if the chemical wasn't banned, unfortunately.
- inactive, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5I would rather fight pop music with malaria
- duncan202, on 07/13/2009, -2/+6This man speaks truth.
We used to use DDT and drain mosquito breeding grounds (swamps) and had this ***** under control.
Now we ban its use and conserve the swamps as "wetland" and wonder where all there ***** mosiquito born illnesses come from. - RealmDown, on 07/13/2009, -3/+6So does everything else.
- letstalk1, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3My thumbs up to that, his music is good if you have an ear for it & the energy to dance to it....
- fluidfoundation, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3You got the touch!
- AnotherDiggGuy, on 07/13/2009, -3/+6Back during the DDT debates, people literally doused themselves with DDTs and not one of those people ever got sick or died from cancer.
To this day, not a single person has ever been confirmed to die as a result of DDTs.
DDTs were literally banned based on non-researched facts that have since been proven to be false. - dinglebutt, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2So is there a Malaria Net Dance video on Youtube yet?
- suzanek, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Great innovation.
- DirtyMcGee, on 07/13/2009, -3/+4Haha...do you work for DuPont or something?

Talk about, pop musik - Barackalypse, on 07/13/2009, -1/+1"Even where resistance to its toxic action exists, DDT still provides protection through its repellent and irritant actions."
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/79127.php - lugalasso, on 07/13/2009, -2/+1I think it is so incredibly important that we do our part in helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. I would just like to make a comment about what "AnotherDiggGuy" said about DDT's. DDT's were a large contributor to global warming and in the long run if we continued to use them we would be contributing to the degradation of our planet. Global warming is incredibly dangerous because the warmer our planet gets the more floods, droughts, and dangers we bring upon ourselves. That being said, although banning DDT may have increased the likelihood of Malaria in Africa and other places, the fact is that Malaria is preventable and treatable with the right education and the right tools, where as global warming and its effects are likely to kill many millions more than Malaria.
