- brinkofjon, on 05/22/2009, -0/+18Well, if that ice creams going to make her nauseous, somebody's got to eat it...
Om nom nom... - bromac, on 05/22/2009, -3/+21Stones aren't metric.
- amabaie, on 05/22/2009, -0/+16When my wife was pregnant, I tried not to eat the things she was supposed to avoid. I think I actually lost weight.
- bkraj, on 05/22/2009, -3/+18That's 14 lbs for people who don't think in metric.
- GoKings, on 05/22/2009, -1/+16I seriously hate the stone thing. I mean seriously? How many books of congress does that weight? Like wtf? It's only used in the UK. At least move to kg or something. I understand the English system is kind of lame, but at least it's a whole system and at least it makes sense.
- Niz1, on 05/22/2009, -0/+14Well shes not going to exactly call you fat during that period.
- TrevorBradley, on 05/22/2009, -2/+13Or used outside the UK*. You might as well tell us someone's weight in "hay-pennies"
* Wikipedia says it's used in some commonwealth countries, but it's use is completely absent here in Canada - nutmac, on 05/22/2009, -0/+11I did the opposite. I had to eat stuff she didn't want to eat (after preparing or ordering it).
- maz2331, on 05/23/2009, -0/+8But 6.35 kg is.
- danielinvermont, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Happened to me, exactly 14 lbs too. weird.
- heymike, on 05/22/2009, -1/+7Sympathy weight
- lordmike, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6It happened to me when my wife was pregnant... and it was just about 14 pounds, too! Weird....
- JinxCrow, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Er ok I'm guessing he finishes what she doesn't, aka "honey I can't finish this bowl of ice cream..." and he does it for her.
- jammyfred, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Bound to happen when you're eating for two.
Wait, no, I think I'm confused here. - tommyboy84, on 05/22/2009, -1/+7and women think they've got it hard during pregnancy...
- teemingvoid, on 05/23/2009, -1/+6I can totally believe that.. what man really wants to let his wife have the bigger portion of the meal every time, just because she's pregnant? I'm too competitive to let that happen!
- TheStrangeBrew, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5My wife is currently 20 wks prego and I'm at about 2.5 lbs over what I was when we found out. So far I think I'm doing pretty well...
- No1nose, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4You've got about 20 weeks left to gain 11.5 lbs. I think you can do it without too much effort.
- Rudegar, on 05/23/2009, -1/+5drinking up the courage to be a dad ? :P
- GMH24, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4I stayed the same, but when our daughter was born, I lost several pounds from sleepless nights, and all that craziness that ensues.
- Myztry, on 05/23/2009, -0/+3Any measurement is fine as long as they aren't based back from when humans had 12 fingers for counting....
- kalvinb, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4Sympathy gains
- boshhead, on 05/22/2009, -3/+6Get married.
- StreetPreacher, on 05/23/2009, -0/+3Not really. Most guys eat whatever their wives bring home or make, and since most women make some effort to watch their weight food around the house has some limits. But once they're pregnant all bets are off.
Once your wife's eating nachos, ice cream, frozen pizza and the like of course you're gonna be right there with her. And they tend to eat more and more often, so you follow suit.
The whole thing's quite logical really. - Scopitone, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3...through stress eating.
- vickers500, on 05/23/2009, -2/+5USA, USA!
- SexyGeekGirl, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4well its about time guys catch up in sharing w/ pregnancy burden
- Iwantawii, on 05/22/2009, -2/+5Run.
- mattymc, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3You can't divorce your child. When you know your locked in, you give up.
- Feener, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3I know stones are weird but when you use it your entire life nothing else makes sense. Lbs baffle me and Kgs are used for everything else. England's in the UK by the way.
- maz2331, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2It's often actually refered to as the "Imperial" system.
- undercoverDrunk, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4Less sex? Less active sex? Giving up?
- LonelyTylenoL, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2It's true. My dad gained weight and even had cravings for pickles when my mom was pregnant with me.
- crxyem, on 05/23/2009, -1/+3I actually lost 25lb during my wifes last pregnancy
- mustard333, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2lets see 4 kids... my weight gain is?
- PixelMagic, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2Yeah, they're rocks. What's your point?
- rheaume, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2Sweet. Pass me another donut, my wife's got one in the oven.
- GMH24, on 05/23/2009, -2/+4Metric > English because BASE 10 > random base for each unit
- philry4n, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2Yeah that happens to me too
- fraggle35, on 05/23/2009, -0/+2I lost weight because I got morning sickness too :(
- Jashobeam5, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1So did my husband, even before he knew.
- steelreserve211, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2Umm yeah, the pregnancy. So that's why I crave beer and nachos every night.
- imkidred, on 05/25/2009, -0/+1I gained a little bit of weight, though not nearly the around my wife did.
- GoKings, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2The American system is often referred to as the English system. The system in England is the metric system.
- Jashobeam5, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1No kidding, the sleepless nights in the beginning are just insane. My husband has lost almost 20 pounds in the last month.
- xero69, on 05/25/2009, -0/+1Towards the end of the pregnancy she isn't going to be in the mood at all so you might as well have a snack and some beer while you wait for the new mouth to feed to emerge.
- ASSASSYN360, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1It's not fat! It's un-flexible muscle! I gained weight while my girlfriend was pregnant.
- jsep, on 05/22/2009, -3/+4I'm six and a half months into my girlfriends pregnancy and i'm in better shape now then i was 6 months ago. We both eat right, go on regular walks and I exercise a bit more. I think anyone will look for an excuse to be lazy.
- Filter, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1The problem is that many women erroneously think (as confirmed by a doctor) that they need to eat for two. 300 extra calories a day isn't eating twice your diet. Often we men are just along for the ride and eat whatever is put in front of us. Yes I'm assuming most men are like me.
In my case I've just been gaining weight since I got married because I have someone to cook good food for me. Oddly my wife has lost weight so that must mean I'm eating her portion too. - oninbonin, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1Sigh* once again I am the exception, I have gone from 6'4" 240 lbs down to 220 so far and she's due in Sept. I found it to be inspiration to lose weight and gain muscle so I can be a big daddy!
