- cheap2, on 08/21/2008, -1/+96Interesting article but it doesn't really answer the question about turning fat into muscle
- VinnieDaMac, on 08/22/2008, -2/+59"But they say only the body's 'good' fat which we are born with can be transformed, and not the 'bad' fat created by over-eating and not exercising enough."
Well damn, that got a lot of people's hopes up for nothing. - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+52Good diet and exercise.
- dainfagerholm, on 08/21/2008, -2/+49This doesn't help me, or my beer belly.
- UberNick, on 08/22/2008, -0/+40"If I did it, anyone can."
it's true-- you used to be the laziest, fattest bastard of the bunch - Xihix, on 08/22/2008, -8/+35Fat can't be turned into muscle. Don't get your stupid hopes up, fatties. Just exercise at least five times a week and watch your calories. If I did it, anyone can.
- quomen, on 08/22/2008, -1/+24Just work the ***** out. Get your ass out of the chair and sweat a little. #1 tool is dedication.
- ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -3/+24How about how to turn a six pack into beer gut?
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+18But how do i convert fat to beer?
- damntourists, on 08/22/2008, -2/+20you've got to be ***** kidding me.
- kdawg1012, on 08/21/2008, -9/+26Sure wish they'd hurry up with that LOL
- johndavidjack, on 08/22/2008, -1/+17I dislocated my shoulder twice (4 times total), got shoulder surgery, and turned 21 all in the course of about 6 months. I gained about 14 pounds, and was out of shape from eating ***** college food, boozing, and lack of exercise. Being in a sling and not being cleared to work out really took it's toll. It took me close to 3 months to get back into good shape, and that was running 4 times a week, shoulder rehab and working out at the gym.
It's not easy to turn fat into muscle, because you really gotta eat healthy, and avoid tons of processed foods. Then add in a lot of hard work...
Not everyone has the body type to have a 6 pack, and I don't see all the rage over it. Just because someone doesn't have a six pack does not mean they aren't in shape, or do not have strong stomach muscles.
If you lack confidence because you lack a 6 pack, the 6 pack is the least of your concerns... - Xihix, on 08/22/2008, -0/+15I did, actually. Hell, I still don't feel like going to the gym to work out, but I wouldn't want to turn into what I used to be again.
- GKaushik, on 08/22/2008, -0/+15I used to weigh 330+ lbs last summer. I'm now under 240 and hoping to be under 200 by next summer. What's my secret? I lift a ton to make muscle, eat smart (under 1500 calories/day, lots of carbs in the morning and none at night, etc), and do a lot of what people refer to as "cardio" -- running stairs and swimming have worked best for me. Fat people -- there's no easy solution. Articles like these promise a quick fix in order to eradicate the "obesity epidemic" -- and perhaps one day we'll have such a fix. But until then, you got to change your life, and no it ain't easy.
- ehseesea, on 08/22/2008, -0/+13I used to have a six pack, but I drank them all...
- chrisc3, on 08/22/2008, -1/+14I wont lie. I've been active at my boxing gym for almost 2 years and still dont have a 6 pack. A 6pack requires DEDICATION, EFFORT and of course as healthy a diet as possible. Dont eat before going to bed etc etc.
All in all, get off your butt, sweat a ton and you should be looking good in no time. - Inaktivist, on 08/22/2008, -3/+16...or your fat ass could eat less and exercise more.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -2/+15Yeah ok...
Have fun at the gym, with your "girlfriend". - djixl, on 08/22/2008, -0/+12NOT a HOW-TO article.
- saggygrandma, on 08/22/2008, -3/+15only you can only help yourself buddy.
- sevascisum, on 08/22/2008, -2/+13"Fat can be directly converted into muscle"
i stopped reading there - dudetaz2003, on 08/22/2008, -2/+12^^^ thats what I am doing. The hardest step is the first.
- drewbe121212, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9Thank you sir,
Its about time people realize this type of *****! I use to weigh 220 pounds, and am now down to 210 just after 1 month. Guess what I did? I walk/ran/interval trained for an hour each night. If you can honestly tell me you don't have an extra hour each night to do these things, then some people need to re-evaluate there life. Its simple. Diet, exercise. It'll fall right off.
Lamest excuse in the world 'I don't have enough time'. hah. Why, because there so busy watching TV? Riiight...
Kudos to you sir! Keep up the great work! - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9And you wonder why fatties give up so easily... It's false promises like this. Diet and exercise are important, I'll give you that. But don't delude yourself into thinking you're gonna turn into some sort of ripped body builder just because you work out a few times a week and don't stuff your face with twinkies.
I think this is part of the problem with America today - people decide to change their lives, they start working out every day, they cut down on the junk food, and after a few months, lo and behold, they still have a bit of a gut. Never mind the fact that thanks to the exercise, the nutrition, and the cutting back on empty calories, their bodies are in much better condition, they've been so thoroughly conditioned to believe that skinny=healthy, and so, seeing no outward results, they give up, completely ignoring how much healthier their new lifestyle is. - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9McCain needs to do something about the fat hanging off his left jowl.
- Fighter2a, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8In my experience a six pack is a lot more about the diet than the exercise.
- EvilJelloMan, on 08/22/2008, -0/+7When I started college, I had a six pack. By graduation, it was a quarter keg.
- joshcxa, on 08/22/2008, -0/+6Me too. It's like turning a cabbage into a skyscraper. It just can't work.
- spc4, on 08/22/2008, -1/+7This is BS Dugg down.
- whiteguysamurai, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5I would rather chicks just dig fat dudes, i believe that is why we hired Seth Rogan.
He was supposed to make us fatties cool again. - TonyTheTerrible, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5burried for misleading title
- Stroggoth, on 08/22/2008, -2/+6You can't convert them. Fat cells are fixed in number generally and cannot become muscle cells. The best you can hope for is the shrinkage of the fat cells with proper diet and exercise. Muscle must be separately gained.
- Tyrghast, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4If the title and summary were true, Rosie O'Donnell could have become the strongest woman alive.

2. Remove fat with said homemade liposuction machine
3. Pain
4. Re-brand fat as an all natural breast enhancement serum!
5. ????
6. Beer!!! - Titan615, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3For those who did not RTFA, There are two types of fat "brown" (good) fat and "white" (bad) fat.
Brown fat is healthy and is easy to burn off and is the type of fat you had when you were a baby.
White fat is energy storing fat and is difficult to burn.
They say they believe they have found a protein that changes white fat to brown fat, ergo making it easier for one to lose weight as the brown fat burns very fast.
/Here's to hoping they really have found the cure to obesity! - SoopaflySAM, on 08/22/2008, -2/+5Why do diggers hate on those who have girlfriends. I am a geek with a hot gf
- Xihix, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Well, for one, there is a thing called splitting body groups. Like, legs one day, arms one day, etc. But I didn't even say should do lifting every day. I used to do lifting on M, W, F with 20 min. of cardio after, and then 45 min of cardio on T and TH. I now do a little less lifting as often, only to maintain, and 30 min of cardio on T and TH and about 15 min. of cardio after lifting.
- surgictube, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Awww that's touching. :D
- sockpuppets, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3I'd rather turn a six-pack into a beer gut.
- foofightrs777, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Or lead into gold. We all know how we that turned out.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Point taken. If you starve your body with excessive excersize, then it will burn the muscle just like if you were not eating for a few days. I still suggest that this level of excersize is unhealthy. There is just as much risk in loosing too much fat as having too much.
- TwoKill, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Now that they can get the fat out of fat people can they get the stupid out of stupid people.
- thirdeyeopen, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3I didn't RTFA, but I bet I can sum it up in one word: EXCERSIZE
- superspak, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3It's pretty easy to lose weight, I've been running all summer, and on a strict diet, and i lost 30 pounds over the summer alone. I also have been lifting weights which is another really powerful way to burn calories.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3It is not technically possible to turn fat into muscle. Perhaps the headline is just poorly worded. Diet and exercise are the only things that affect how much fat your body stores. In addition to this, you do not loose muscle unless you have a serious health issue or have been starved for more than a few days. Changing what type of fat your body stores is a bad idea as it will change your bodies ability to manage the storage of energy. It would likely take many generations for the body to adapt to this change. There are drugs that can impact your bodies storage of fat, but tricking your body with drugs means that you have to keep taking them indefinitely or it will just return to its normal state based on your calorie intake and how many calories you burn per interval.
- johndavidjack, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Clean and jerks dude...
- McBradd, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Buried for inaccurate 'Teaser Title.'
- flyingclutchman, on 08/22/2008, -0/+25 day splits are very common in bodybuilding, you work out a different muscle group each day. With 2 off days thats a week of rest for each muscle group.
- scoottie, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2"But they say only the body's 'good' fat which we are born with can be transformed, and not the 'bad' fat created by over-eating and not exercising enough."
So the title is misleading -
