- banditmeerkat, on 02/12/2009, -0/+41Exercising means living longer and healthier...really?
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -0/+26Well, not just cuts colon cancer risk but also protect you from heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, noninsulin-dependent diabetes, obesity, back pain, osteoporosis, and can improve your mood and help you to better manage stress.
- jmill987, on 02/13/2009, -0/+16This just in: Exercising is healthy!
- muxaulo, on 02/12/2009, -0/+16Drop and give me twenty pushups
- plecostomus, on 02/12/2009, -5/+19Ladies and gentlemen, this is all a conspiracy. I have a list of 300 reputable scientists that say exercise does not in fact help the body or mind. Instead, lifelong exercise will cause tendon tears, scoliosis, and has even recently been linked to cancer of the lung! The media, the government, and exercise equipment companies are partners in this crime against the world's people. Notice: have you ever seen a media article critical of exercise? Why are insurance companies so eager to push exercise programs and nutritional advice on their customers?
Wake up sheeple! Your journalists are company spokespeople, your politicians are corporate kiss-asses, and your doctors are giving you bad advice in exchange for free dinners and all-inclusive trips to the Bahamas! - vorduga, on 02/13/2009, -0/+9<slaps forehead>
- dtfinch, on 02/13/2009, -0/+9But then you're much more likely to die of extreme old age.
- dvsbastard, on 02/13/2009, -0/+8I graciously await the follow up study suggesting exercise causes cancer...
- Wolfie351, on 02/13/2009, -0/+8People who exercise take care of themselves. People who take care of themselves eat proper food. People who eat proper food lower their risk for colon cancer.
- cam0man, on 02/13/2009, -0/+7better than dying on the ***** while dipping your hoagie in the tub of mayo
- haydenk, on 02/13/2009, -0/+7So, you're attempting to say that exercising doesn't make you healthier?
- schnikies79, on 02/13/2009, -0/+7Get off your ass.
- giveer, on 02/13/2009, -0/+6I gotta admit.. There's not a lot of comments that reflect so strongly what "That Guy" would say... but... I think you nailed it.
- bAtsuShi, on 02/13/2009, -0/+6You go to they gym daily to reduce the risk of colon cancer? Hahaha!
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5So healthy people are less likely to get sick?
- Tyrghast, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5So.. sitting on yer butt all day increases the risk of butt cancer?
- ZakColeman, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5yeah exercising is bad for you, right...
- maliath, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4Damn I really hope you forgot to put "/s"
- shyner, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4So what they're saying is exercise is good for you? Another scientific breakthrough!
- MarkofZ, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3Exercise is good for you? I had no idea...
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -1/+4THE FRONT PAGE HAS BECOME CNN
- digggggggggg, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3That's a good point, actually. The study didn't actually prove any causation; rather, they see a correlation. The tricky thing about correlations is that there are a lot of factors involved, so just showing a correlation doesn't necessarily prove any link between colon cancer and exercise.
- jcsoc, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3NEWS FLASH: Exercise=Good
- cp101, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3I'm sorry, but the dildo who just said "Ladies and gentlemen, this is all a conspiracy. I have a list of 300 reputable scientists that say exercise does not in fact help the body or mind."
Is most likely just fat. - AstroZombie138, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3Exactly. You could probably make a similar study that shows people who take a multivitamin every day are at less risk for colon cancer. Its not the vitamin, but that people who might take a multivitamin are also more likely to exercise, watch what they eat, etc.
- isunktheship, on 02/13/2009, -1/+4I think it means exercising your colon.
Probably.
Maybe not. - charters14, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2mind boggling research. give me more.
- FI5HERMAN, on 02/13/2009, -1/+3I suppose it comes down to us.... Do we want to live longer !!!
- serif69, on 02/13/2009, -4/+6Why is the headline being sarcastic?
- hellahyphy, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2sarcasm ftw!
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2First its pot gives you testicular cancer then bacon can give you a stroke no you are telling me sitting in here doing nothing but reading digg will make my ass fall off? WTF man! WTF!
- evilrevolution, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2more like a PSA than a news article
- ProfessorLX, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2i like your plan mr.troll... trying to get as negative a response as possible.. well played.
- drlove56, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Exercise strengthens your muscles that help you "push brown" much better, thus helping to prevent colon cancer.
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2what about anal dildoes?
- ZakColeman, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2This just in, breathing cuts risk of dying...
- MeatyMcBeef, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2So sitting on your ass gives you ass cancer? Well I'll be.
- jmill987, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2It's pretty common to use quotes from an article in the headline....
- AntiGravityHero, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2Are you headed there in 26 minutes?
- DecoyQ, on 02/13/2009, -2/+3The Gays are going to live forever if that's true.
- stone60, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1Don't think that exercise will eliminate any risk or even reduce the chance. I exercised regularly, both weight lifting and cardio (biking and jogging) and still got colon cancer. It's all a roll of the dice...
- dadioflex, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1Scary that people are digging you down. Not unexpected, but scary.
Leaving aside your science/faith diatribe, which is a bit sad and actually proves the point you're trying to make, just because people who exercise have a lower risk of colon cancer doesn't mean that exercising led to the lowering of the risk. It's just as likely that people who exercise are less likely to indulge in things which would encourage colon cancer. Correlation not causation. See?
So if I eat nothing but fatty foods I'm more likely to get colon cancer. If I smoke I'm more likely to get colon cancer. If I lick radioactive materials I'm more likely to get colon cancer. If I'm someone who has chosen to exercise then I'm less likely to eat fatty foods, smoke or lick radioactive materials. BUT exercising doesn't mitigate these threats in any way. If I exercise, eat fatty foods, smoke and lick radioactive materials then I'm just as likely to get colon cancer.
I welcome the day the general populace is less cynical and more informed. - datingman, on 09/28/2009, -0/+1A colon cleanse diet is often recommended to patients who seem to be suffering from various chronic abdominal ailments. Do you belong to the category that seems to suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, http://www.coloncleanse-detox.com constipation, indigestion, gas or bloating of the abdominal region? Well, in case you are, you need to read the three tips which are listed below.
- rmmcclay, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2"Taking" exercise?
- MarkofZ, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1This just in, dying reduces the risk of breathing

- pbs11, on 09/25/2009, -0/+0mind-boggling indeed... the article didn't mention the kind of exercise to do... aerobic? cardio? etc?
- pbs11, on 09/25/2009, -0/+0dog food too prevents colon cancer. so go after your dog's next meal. http://www.wysong.net/
