Dwarf = battle axe welding mystical creature - chungmaster, on 11/21/2008, -0/+31nice. we cured cancer again.
- 15thPD, on 11/21/2008, -0/+28I once fought alongside a dwarf in the battle for Gondor, he was a brave fiesty little fellow. Natural sprinter, very dangerous over short distances.
- thegamingguy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+28Great news but even better title.
- travis6690, on 11/21/2008, -0/+21Dugg and forwarded to my ex-girlfriend who is both short and Ecuadorean.
- a117, on 11/21/2008, -1/+16Hopefully the research doesn't come up short.
- oboshoe, on 11/21/2008, -0/+13Dwarfs?
What Class? - FamousNerd, on 11/21/2008, -0/+8True, but the title of this same article on reddit wins more, do you agree?
"Dwarves may hold the secret to curing cancer. This shouldn't surprise anyone, since they get that huge CON bonus at 1st level."

- WillSunrider, on 11/20/2008, -2/+9Do we get to see them wrestle?
- T8erT0T, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6Dr. Guevara went on to talk about the new obstacles he faces. "They clearly have a knowledge of this phenomena, yet they insist on reciting questions in riddle form in order for me to learn their ways."
- Fishn2, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6As a fellow smoker I know what you're saying, but their is still venous and arterial damage, lung and heart diseases, not to mention other chemicals in cigarettes that cause health issues by themselves.
A cure for cancer would not stop smoking related deaths or health issues. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5second one is a DILF
- jingwei, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7Now all they have to do is unlock the secret so I can smoke in peace.
- poidh, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Do they have midget trannies?
- hoonooka, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4give me negatives! do it now muhahahaha

- Razyael, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4So that's why Dwarves get +2 constitution...
- nullcodes, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5Dwarfs don't catch cancer cause the cancer vapors are above them, either that or the cancer fire shoots over their heads,
That's currently the establishment's top two theories anyway.
You can avoid cancer by crouching and crawling, but who wants to do that? - Nosyn, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4"Natural sprinter, very dangerous over short distances."
Crap, that sounds like me... - Mokshaguy390, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3I'm gonna not read this article and instead imagine that it means exactly what I want it to mean.
I'm gonna love the future. - soulkitchen, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3It didn't end well for the last Dr. Guevara.
- LemonChicken, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3I trust you've never heard of the Goddess Bunny?
- Rivetgeek, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Yeah cancer basically means you dont have to live for 40 years with COPD and having strokes every couple years.
- shame126, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4Very interesting. Thanks for sharing :) Spent a good 30mins reading alot of other related stuff elsewhere
- Fishn2, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Why did I have to google that.
Damn you curiosity. - poidh, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2I have, but she/he isn't a true midget and therefore isn't of interest to me.
:) - painting, on 11/21/2008, -2/+4because they're not eating the crap we called food and the breathing the smog we call air.
- iPanda, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2i think you meant:
Big news but even bigger title. - splorpdotorg, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Fighters. Constitution bonus.
- serif69, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2It's funny because cancer is unwanted growth.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2is it wrong that I pictured a Battle Axe wielding Dwarf in a lab after reading the title?
- zeblith, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Submissives.
- VibhuC812, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Your left hand is Ecuadorean?
- tmc1, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Great title, bad pay-off.
- travis6690, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1I said EX girlfriend.
- zeblith, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Ecuador has a substantially high cancer rate. The dwarves don't. That's why they're interesting.
(I am trying very hard not to make a similar "Your Mom" joke for the sake of good taste, but damn it is difficult.) - Gemfinder, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2Those aren't dwarves. Dwarves usually have oversized heads and bowed or deformed legs.
The correct term would be "midgets." - copypastry, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Y MI HACHA

Cameroon: A cold spot for colon cancer
The five "F's" of colon cancer prevention:
1. Fiber. High-fiber grains such as millet, sorghum, teff, maize, plantain and brown rice.
2. Less flesh. Meat is used sparingly, mostly in stews. Protein most often comes from grains and legumes, such as peanuts and black beans.
3. Fermented foods. Cultured sour milk and yogurt, pickled or fermented corn, manioc and millet are high in gut-friendly bacteria.
4. Foraged foods. Wild greens are rich in folate and antioxidants.
5. Select fats. Saturated fats, from animal products, can promote colon cancer. Omega-3 fats, found in fish and grains, protect against it.
Okinawa: A cold spot for breast and prostate cancer
Cancer-fighters native to the traditional diet include:
-- EGCG, an antioxidant found in tea leaves.
-- Lycopene, an antioxidant found in fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes, melons, grapefruit and guava.
-- Glucosinolates, an antioxidant found in garlic and cruciferous vegetables, including bok choy, cabbage and broccoli.
-- Iodine, an aid to thyroid function, found in seaweed.
-- Selenium, a mineral that supports cancer-fighting enzymes, found in spinach, whole grains and seeds, fish, pork loin and brazil nuts.
Above all, traditional Okinawans live by this essential rule: "Hara hachi bu" - eat only until you are "eight parts full."
Mexico: A cold spot for diabetes
It's a world away from the super-burrito you had for lunch.
The Tarahumara Indians of Copper Canyon, an isolated northern mountain region, have a miraculous traditional diet rich in "slow-release" foods - including corn tortillas, beans, squash, jicama and nopales - which contain types of carbohydrates that metabolize (turn to sugar) slowly.
How to choose a slow-release corn tortilla:
-- Does each tortilla have at least 3 grams of fiber?
-- Has it been treated with lime, which boosts nutrient content?
-- Is it organic? (They keep well in the freezer; just defrost as you need them.)
What to avoid:
-- Tortillas with partially hydrogenated fat, added vegetable oils or preservatives.
The book studies several other disease "cold spots", but these relate to this article. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2The study started off small, and still short on answers.
