- absolutelytrue, on 05/26/2009, -0/+58As does driving while crying uncontrollably. Probably shouldn't do either one.
- Biscuitz, on 01/31/2009, -1/+48Doing anything but keeping your eyes on the damn road is unsafe. DUH!
This includes:
No drinking
No texting
No yaking on your cellphone
Not under the influence of anything that can alter your thought process =all drugs
Not being so ***** sick that you can't hold your head up, in which case you're probably dehydrated.
I mean, it's common sense honestly! - EMTtech, on 01/31/2009, -0/+37no *****, really?
- TheEpicChocobo, on 07/28/2009, -0/+34I wonder if that'll be illegal next.
- poidh, on 01/31/2009, -1/+31Would two lines of coke cancel it out?
- hollis, on 01/31/2009, -1/+25My ***** of a brother-in-law made me get up at 2am because he didn't want me staying in his house any longer because I was sick. He was afraid of getting sick himself. My sister didn't even defend me, and I most certainly would have attempted to beat his ass had I not been ill. I'm surprised I made it home in one piece, it was worse than driving tired for me. I had to pull over several times to either vomit or gain my composure.
- beachsouthpaw, on 01/31/2009, -0/+20Captain Obvious saves the day again!
- yacks, on 01/31/2009, -0/+13Driving sick and tired is not a good combination.. driving tired is even dangerous let alone being sick to boot.
- ricepicker4000, on 01/31/2009, -0/+13ha, even allergies raise the risk of an accident. if u sneeze 5 times in 3 seconds u've just raised ur chances of driving into a pole.
- hollis, on 01/31/2009, -0/+13Yes, I'll admit I didn't do the right thing and just get a hotel instead of driving 2 hours back to my apartment but I guess that is what being sick will do, impair judgment.
- cowboy77061, on 01/31/2009, -0/+13driving with diarrhea also raises the risk of an accident.
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -0/+12Driving while impaired impairs your ability to drive? *shock*
- Spanq, on 01/31/2009, -2/+13So does driving while taking a ***** in your pants. Buried.
- Stevo23, on 01/31/2009, -0/+9Is this really news? Any illness that makes you feel like crap and dulls your senses is going to result in worse driving.
- ABip13, on 01/31/2009, -0/+9Breaking News: Driving with children screaming in the back seat raises risk of an accident.
- cstathis15, on 01/31/2009, -0/+9To statisticians, nothing is obvious.
- jeffiek, on 02/01/2009, -0/+8Better make it three. Just to be safe.
- theDarkGamer, on 01/31/2009, -0/+8We can outlaw everything that might increase one's risk of harm, as we have been doing, or we could go back to the commonsense approach of actually punishing people when they violate a traffic law. Frankly I don't care if someone drives drunk with the flu while putting on makeup, eating a hamburger, and talking on a cellphone as long as they can drive safely while doing it...
If they hit something while doing such negligent behavior, THEN throw the book at them. - docbob84, on 01/31/2009, -0/+8I would have sneezed and wiped my hands on anything I could reach on the way out. That's a pretty dick-ish move, kicking someone out of your house at 2AM, sick or not.
- dkmango, on 01/31/2009, -1/+8I'm so thankful for these breakthrough studies. I would have never thought!
I'm eagerly waiting for the results of a new study analyzing how driving blindfolded has an effect on the number of road accidents. - alexra, on 01/31/2009, -0/+7does anyone miss the old digg?
- JuanBSU, on 01/31/2009, -2/+9Ask Dubya.
- bromac, on 01/31/2009, -0/+6You're being Dugg down, but this is a fine line.
Do we start handing out DUI's to people on anti-depressants (alters your thought process)? Or to people who have an energy drink before they drive?
If a drug affects your motor skills to such a degree that it impairs you, then fine, but I don't want people being blood tested on the road to see if they have *insert innocuous drug here* in their system. - T8erT0T, on 01/31/2009, -0/+6Studies have shown that people with Common Sense aren't as surprised at many of their findings.
- bromac, on 01/31/2009, -0/+5Whoa, calm down. I agreed with you.
I said that an energy drink, or anti-depressants (both psychoactive substances) do not significantly affect your motor skills. It was a response to:
"All drugs huh? Tobacco, coffee, aspirin? All banned?"
I wasn't commenting on your opinion about "casual link between being ill and not being able to drive". But hey, keep up with the persecution complex. - LoveAndSeagulls, on 01/31/2009, -0/+5.....is this actually news to anybody?
- bromac, on 01/31/2009, -0/+5Or, you know, you could try to prevent the serious injury or death that car accidents cause. I'd probably be more likely to side with you if I haven't seen so many career drunk drivers who think they're beating the odds and can "drive fine drunk" go into a pole and kill their buddy in the passenger seat.
This isn't a case of just waiting for them to screw up, then bust them. Drunk/angry/nyquil/stupid driving screw ups often KILL PEOPLE. It's not about getting revenge for these events, it's about trying to give people consequences to those reckless actions that don't involve someone being maimed or killed.
If you can't walk straight, or your body already feels like it got hit by a truck and is distracting you, you shouldn't drive. - doubleoh7, on 01/31/2009, -1/+6in your pants
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -2/+7driving under the influence of LSD raises ur risk of having a good time
- CeliaSTA, on 01/31/2009, -0/+5So you mean to tell me that if you have the flu and your vision is blurry, you've got a headache, your nose is stuffy and you generally feel like burying yourself under the covers, you won't be ALERT? What a shocker! I'm so glad we have scientists to examine these matters!
- jasdf, on 01/31/2009, -0/+4Like this:
http://www.funnycoolstuff.com/images/car-toilet.jp ... - FreedomsFire, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4Well obviously we need to legislate to solve this crisis. We need a federal agency that does nothing .... but protect the lawful good citizens of America. We need to develop a special piss test so that anyone pulled over for any thing we can dream up is subject to testing for driving while ***** up with the flu, or DWFF for short. We've already started to organize Mothers Against Driving ***** Up With The Flu, or MADFUUF. (Pronounced Mad-Foof). We've got to iradicate this scourge before it kills your children! And the best way to protect innocent life is to set up a program that monitors everyone's viral blood biology ... in real time. For a little sacrifice in liberty... a few pennies a day from the total we were already taking, we can all work together for a safer and freer America ... safe from DWFUUF'ed! God bless America!
- Nephrastar, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4And you didn't vomit on him why?
- CeeJayDK, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4We can still receive BJ's while driving right ?
- Instaa, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4lol I hope they spent a LOT of money on this study too
- superbobd, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4My dad was stopped at a light one time, with a car stopped right behind him...before he knew it, the car suddenly slammed into the back of his car, for no apparent reason. When my dad got out, the guy in the other car came out and was all boogery and red eyed, and said that he was sick, and sneezed...which apparently made him hit the gas...or something...
- spyd3rweb, on 01/31/2009, -1/+5Maybe driving should just be made illegal period, since theres a chance you can crash.
- JuanBSU, on 01/31/2009, -0/+4especially if you're the one bent over AND driving
- XA04, on 02/01/2009, -0/+4Too much estrogen causes bad driving too I hear..
- tgc1, on 02/01/2009, -0/+3Also, reading too many stupid studies like this is bound to give you a headache, which will certainly take a bit of your attention away from the road with all the throbbing. And likely that too will increase your risk of accident. So see, these ***** are contributing directly to a potential accident. Those bastards!
Articles like this should come with a warning label. - gnotDigger, on 01/31/2009, -0/+3After encountering far too many articles such as this I can only conclude that for one or many reasons Digg is broken.
- yacks, on 01/31/2009, -1/+4Driving while dead is worse.
- urik88, on 02/01/2009, -0/+3Good morning Sherlock!
- bromac, on 02/01/2009, -0/+3I said you are being Dugg down. I didn't say you were being dugg down by ME. In fact, I dugg you UP!
And your comment was at -1 diggs (now -4) , thus it was being buried. My statement was TRUE.
Now I WILL bury your other comments, because you've attacked me for your own lack of reading comprehension. Your assumption that I was attacking you from your misunderstanding of my first sentence, when the rest of the paragraph supports your arguments, is just daft and insulting to me. - AmandaQ, on 02/01/2009, -0/+3Someone needs to give me a grant for my research in this particular study.
- maz2331, on 01/31/2009, -0/+3You can't prevent possibly bad outcomes by replacing them with guaranteed bad outcomes forever.
- SoundJudgment, on 01/31/2009, -2/+5In other news, water is wet on weekends and Wednesdays..
