- xposiactionx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11you, my friend, can just read another topic. you have that choice ya know. thanks for wasting your energy to post a negative comment on your personal feelings towards an inanimate object.
- azprofessional, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Yes, theres an obesity problem in America coupled with a video game addiction issue. So Nintendo finds a way to at least get them off the couch with an idea and all you boners can think about is complain about the system like some teet sucking fanboys of 360 or Sony
Typical - quakeIII, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I guess there are lots of Apple haters here. I thought you made an enjoyable comment.
- crichton101, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Do you really even know what placebo effect means? Because this is not really bordering on the placebo effect at all. Would actually playing the real versions of these sports be healthier for you? Absolutely. There's no real comparison there. All the Wii simply does is give people an avenue to be more physically active then a normal video game allows. It makes you actually move, and the more you move around while playing it the healthier the game play is. An hour playing on the Wii may not equal an hour of intense gym exercise or cardio, but it's ALOT healthier for you then playing the 360 or the PS3. And it's especially good for older people who aren't physically active or healthy enough to go to a gym, or walk/run 1 to 5 miles a day. It makes them move around and be somewhat active. The placebo effect would be to say that playing a sports makes you lose weight, so playing sports on the 360 must also help you lose weight. The placebo effect is when you give someone something that has absolutely no effect but convince them it does. Actively playing the Wii causes you to move your body, and depending on how much you move your body while playing will directly affect how healthy it is for. But in the end, playing games like Wii Sports is still healthier for you then sitting on your ass playing a sports game on the 360 or PS3.
- tehgoatman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7thats what she said
- walkingdogs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Actually they ALL suck when compared to my PC which will always have better graphics, infinitely more functionality and have move favorable customizable control methods than what the consoles offer. So when it came to my choice of consoles I looked at the games. Wii (mario games in all their flavors, metroid, ssbb, zeldas, and the other games that have/will be released and offer a new method of input and control to which up to this point I have thoroughly enjoyed). Xbox 360 (Halo 3 which is the poor man's FPS and one of the most overrated games ever, and the rest of the games that I want I can get on my PC anyways) PS3 (What games are there again? Oh yeah not too many so I basically have a 600 HDDVD player and besides I boycot ALL Sony products and technologies).
So for me the Wii was the answer and I have enjoyed every minute I have played it. I also feel no remorse for you uncoordinated people who cant figure out how to do 2 things with each hand at the same time and bitch it's the Wiimote problem. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Who da thunk it!!!
moving your limbs is good for you!!! - Ryodin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Are those showers free? they usually cost me
- worminater, on 10/10/2007, -1/+512,060,000 people must be wrong then.
- monospaced, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You must be the most out of shape person in the world.
- HairyReasoner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You are missing the point entirely. The Wii interface motivates people to get up and move around, getting some gentle exercise, rather than just moving their thumbs around.
- givinupthefight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Just out of curiosity, if its current sales don't equal being taken seriously, what does?
My point is you are a dumb troll who is talking out your ass. - dynacrylic, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9So with "an apple a day" and "Wii does a body good" it will make me live forever?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3digg the mr.scott reference
- azprofessional, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Step 1: Take your self absorbed opinion
Step 2: Shove it as far up your ass as it'll reach
Step 3: Repeat - zensequential, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3the funny thing is, out of all the titles released on Wii, the one that is most fun is actually the free Wii Sports :)
**btw, has anyone get a fitness of 20 yrs. old yet? I just scored 21 yrs. old this morning before work!! - kmoed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Another jealous Xbot or sony fanbois spews nonsense. The Wii is a fantastic console and the only step ahead in this generation. The controller is far more comfortable then the button machine on the other 2 and responds beautifully. It has already been taking seriously, you are the one left in the dust of yesteryears thinking.Enjoy!
- TheCosmicFool, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I see what you did there..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2oh yeahhh? you and who else?
- fLUx1337, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Walking to the toilet does the body good
- Justizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2At first, I thought, wait a second, that doesn't even work...
Then, after a few seconds of thought, it hit me.
Nice one... - TheOriginalFox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*co-troll-gh*
- crichton101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The exact same could be said about owning a set of weights, or having a gym membership. If you're only lifting 10lb dumb bells or going to gym and only lightly working out at all for 20 minutes, you aren't going to see any value. Common sense dictates that just because you have something doesn't mean you will see any benefit from unless you actually use it properly to get benefit from it. At no point did anyone say that simply owning a Wii will making you healthy. They have said that actively playing the Wii does have health benefits because it makes you more active then you would normally be. I'm sure there are probably going to be people that think they can buy a Wii and not really play it very actively and just sit in a chair and flick their wrist, and then say "I play with the Wii all the time and I don't feel any healthier." But that still doesn't mean it is anywhere near anything even remotely bordering on the placebo effect. I don't mean to come across as a dick about this, and I apologize if I am, but this is still no where close to being even remotely similiar to the placebo effect.
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6Golden showers bring may flowers.
- zensequential, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1but i bet you Wii gets more gamers to stand up and move around/about more than x360+halo3 (guarantee!), minus those overzealous ones that insist on victory dances after a headshot; DDR, pump it up...etc. if someone can have fun playing these games, and burn some calories in the process, can you get x360/ps3 gamers to do that?
- Majorkerina, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Isn't the point of get rid of 'grooves', particularly around the posterior and such?
- Justizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You wait until SSBB comes out and say that exact same thing...
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i don't eat many apples. i tend to think they're too expensive
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The highest selling console on the market right now will never be taken serioiusly? There are so many things wrong with your statement I'm just going to laugh at you and move on.
- linksus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1LOL i can see it now on tv.
Wii Idol
10 fat asses , loose weight only ply playing on the Wii and become supa stars somehow. ( Probably for being some lame ***** on tv ) - Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1ew.
- trezegol, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Although the Wii imo is good, I'm really looking forward for the Wii Fit
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The purpose of digg is there is a democratic bias. No one person (though that can be argued with Kevin) controls what hits the front, or what gets submitted. The masses to. And so far, at least 373 people disagree.
- fredkreuger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I see what you did there.
- fredkreuger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Clever.
- quakeIII, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I can get an age of 20 about 1 out of 3 times. Often, I tell it that I don't want to use the nunchuck (because the boxing ones piss me off). It helps the age A LOT of you get a platinum metal equivalent on at least one of the events.
- shinynew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1sorry "at digg you don't get a mulligan."
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1more like "moving around does the body good"
people need to learn that the Wii has nothing to do with it - shinynew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1at digg you dont get a do over.
- NonpareilNagle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I thought it only broke expensive TVs with flying wiimotes before the fixed the wrist stratps...
Now instead of breaking people/things, it's fixing them... +1 for nintendo - Ryodin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wonder if Final Fantasy came to the Wii how many fat people would die in its 90+ hour wake?
- Justizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0So does pooping, which is usually what happens after you walk to the toilet!
- arcane14, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Next on the agenda: 'Roid heads with WiiMotes, shouting and crying in front of their TV in a hopeless quest for self-esteem..
- daridave, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Take some N.O.-Xplode before playing your Wii :P
- KeyLimePie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Didn't absolutely everyone who plays Wii Sports get really sore shoulders and wake up the next morning not being able to lift them?
That didn't feel too good. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Yes, I know what the Placebo Effect (imagining something when nothing is happening. Like a doctor giving you a sugar pill and telling you the headache will go away. Or people who smoke oregano and act like they're high) that's why I carefully said "bordering", because it's not exactly the placebo effect. The Wii doesn't make you lose weight, how active you are with the Wii (which you don't have to be at all) is what makes you lose it.
- maddikp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I knew fat kids would hate the wii
- Justizzle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Actually, +2 more for Nintendo, although I sense someone digging me down and correcting me...
+1 for fixing the Wiimote strap and giving replacements out for free (although NO ONE i know had a problem with it)
+1 for handing out the Wiimote condom-looking Gel cover, which is costing them billions (or is it millions, I can't remember from a Digg article a day or two ago) - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5This is bordering on the placebo effect. They don't actually have to get up and be active to play it, they just act like that because they mimic what they see on TV.
I wonder if there's a retard out there that actually hides behind his couch while playing Metroid. -
