- dirtmaster, on 05/10/2009, -0/+22don't try to rub one out using icy hot, it will only bring pain.
- shaelen, on 05/10/2009, -0/+16I only came here to voice my displeasure with the media continually abbreviating Oregon as "Ore." This article used "Ore." Oregon's official abbreviation is OR. It hasn't been Ore since what, the 1970's?
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+14Every joint ache I've ever had was cured by 2 weeks of time...
- wautrey, on 05/10/2009, -1/+12I suggest you learn what a "topical analgesic" is before you go on about your current path of thought. It DOESN'T pass thorough the skin. It doesn't HAVE to either to function correctly. All an analgesic does is replace one sensation for another...like Advil and a headache...The pain reliever does not FIX the source of the pain, just messes with the nerves so you don't feel it any more.

goto 10 - vsujohn2, on 05/10/2009, -0/+8I don't know, but I personally like using Steve Martin's All Natural Penis Beauty Creme. I've found I have a lovelier, more luxurious, softer penis than I ever had with other beauty creams, probably because it's the first beauty lotion made especially for the johnson. I'll tell you - if I could afford it, I would use this cream 24 hours a day.

- 2Deluxe, on 05/10/2009, -0/+5For the love of god go back to YouTube..
- asgardshill, on 05/10/2009, -0/+4Did you drop the server? Is it OK?
- doctorcaligari, on 05/10/2009, -0/+4I think you're talking about lidocaine. There was a girl in Raleigh, NC who died a few years ago by using way too much of the stuff repeatedly.
- flipdoubt, on 05/10/2009, -0/+4Ummm... yeah. Those of us with chronic pain conditions would have to disagree with the first part of your assessment there. A disc herniation & the resulting sciatica / nerve pain is re-goddamn-diculous. I go thru a small glass bottle of Tiger Balm Ultra Strength about once a week or so. And that's *with* proper pain meds. There is nothing remotely *close* to "satisfaction" in my pain, and you can bet a whole host of CP sufferers will promptly agree.
- wautrey, on 05/10/2009, -0/+4Not quite chum. I suggest you do some research on exactly what a "topical analgesic" is. They're NOT homoepathic. You're bringing an arguement about homeopathy into a discussion that doesn't even involve the *****.
Muscle creams are analgesics. An analgesic is is any member of the diverse group of drugs used to relieve pain (achieve analgesia). Analgesic drugs act in various ways on the peripheral and central nervous systems; they include paracetamol (acetaminophen), the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as the salicylates, narcotic drugs such as morphine, synthetic drugs with narcotic properties such as tramadol, and various others.
Icy Hot for instance contains 7.6% menthol and 29% methyl salicylate, which in turn stimulates nerve receptors, causing the user to first feel cool, and then feel heat. This sensation does indeed take the place of the muscle pain you feel...as with ANY pain reliever...treats the PAIN not the source. Damage is still there you just don't feel it. 7.6% menthol and 29% methyl salicylate. - slashdotordigg, on 05/10/2009, -1/+4can you get high from breathing it?
- diggnidy, on 05/10/2009, -4/+7to me it's a mystery how a cream can pass so many layers of skin
- headortails, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3Whatever happened to soaking whatever body part that's sore or in pain in warm steamy water? Can't you just do that, and then take Advil to lose the inflammation? lol It works for me. Most of these antibiotic creams can actually backfire. I know that long usage of Neosporin can increase adverse reactions such as allergic reactions, ect..
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3It's not homeopathic, man. Homeopathic things barely have any trace of the advertised drug. This cream is chock full of drugs.
- hiro, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3Is softness a benefit?
- joltcola, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3thank you for your courage shaelen.
- headortails, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3lol You're so polite.
- Swedemon, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2"Can you really rub away the pain using over-the-counter sports creams, or is it all in your head?"
That makes no sense because pain originates in the head. Of course its "all in your head" with or without the sports creams. - inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2I pinched my sciatic nerve triple jumping 3 weeks ago, and the only thing that's keeping me walking is biofreeze and ibuprofen.
- shaelen, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Maybe so, coulropheliac, but mine was cured while still stressing the joint every day. You probably stopped using it and just let it heal.
- vsujohn2, on 05/10/2009, -2/+4Thats what she said
- jj2me, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2These creams work because they are first and foremost topical irritants, acting to stimuate blood flow to the area, which warms the nearby muscles. Sure, they've thrown analgesics into the mix in recent decades, but historically they've worked because they're topical irritants.
- VyRuZ, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Politeness wins arguments.
- Biscuitz, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Think about those people that endure pain for a living, like people that pierce their skin with needles. Of course it's in our heads! We can surpass pain by changing our thought process. That's how they do it!
- gllopc, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2And cough syrup works just as well as a placebo.
Ahhhh.. SCIENCE!!
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/07/04070 ... - asgardshill, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2That which does not kill me makes me stronger.
- 1hrSleep, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Or cripples you.
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Hardness seems to occur when I use it. Maybe you're doing it wrong.
- justok, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Oregon is usually on the spice rack...until you need it.
- PhillyMJS, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2I did not drop the server, but I sure put it down gently in a hurry. I actually managed to stay on site the entire day and finish the project, though I was gobbling Advil like M&Ms the whole time and couldn't walk around the office without bending over ridiculously to the right.
- AnalogAssassin, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2BASIC digg.
- PhillyMJS, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1Icy Hot works. A few years back I was carrying a heavy server and felt something tear left to right across my lower back, quickly followed by the most blinding pain I have ever experienced in my life. For the next three days, the Icy Hot covering the affected area was the only reason I was able to walk.
- emt1451, on 05/13/2009, -0/+1You have got to be kidding me. It was methyl salicylate, not lidocaine, that killed that girl. There is no lidocaine in any topical sports cream, as far as I know.
Also, to the OP, does it matter if it's toxic in high quantities? Take a bottle of Tylenol and let me know what happens. - LtJimDangle2, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1Best troll ever.
- shaelen, on 05/10/2009, -1/+2Hot water therapy has worked wonders for me all my life. I'm 43, and every joint ache I've ever had was cured by 2 weeks of hot water therapy.
- Schmich, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1The ones I've gotten work really well. For example last season I hurt my hand (I'm an alpine skier). I must have pulled something, nothing got broken, it just got swollen. Anyways I received a cream that I thought (I didn't ask) would be to decrease the swollen over the days but I got really surprised when they applied it. The pain was decreased tremendously and really quickly. It also had this cold sensation.
- asgardshill, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1I really do feel your pain. I'm still nursing a ridiculously sore back from helping move a flat of 80 pound bags of Sakrete from the front to the back yard while pouring a new slab next to the front porch. Nothing seriously wrong, but I really am getting too old for this ****.
- ratsg, on 05/10/2009, -1/+2buried for nytimes article. Stop posting this crap!
- minnecrapolis, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1The space, however, was not required.
- str3ama, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1lol sounds like an ad.
- ratsg, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1Thanks, but no thanks.
I just wanted to look at a web site page, not log in and become an interactive statistic. - judicar, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1Yes, and if you use enough it will take ALL the pain go away ... and you'll get to see baby Jesus.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - emt1451, on 05/13/2009, -0/+1Does it matter? If the pain is relieved, isn't that the point? I don't really see how the mechanism of action is critical...
- KooperG, on 05/10/2009, -2/+2nature can give and take life, you got no point there.
ps, English is usually not that hard (otherwise, get FF, it auto-underlines incorrect words) - settlesdown, on 05/11/2009, -0/+0You could use it to make an Alabama Hot-Pocket.
