- MacBookForMe, on 10/23/2009, -2/+25But these smart girls don't want to merry less educated guys...
- janetaSiri, on 10/23/2009, -1/+24*Marry, and good luck!
- josh6780, on 10/23/2009, -2/+15Well shoot. I guess back in the day every man died early.
- nullcodes, on 10/24/2009, -0/+12Correlation does NOT rule out causation, and nearly always there is a common parameter somewhere.
Just because you say that correlation doesn't mean causation doesn't mean that correlation can't imply that. Using that saying as a law of the universe is a good way of burying your head in the sand to the truth without bothering to investigate. - hantata, on 10/23/2009, -4/+16WOULD you want to live longer?
- Lavarock, on 10/23/2009, -9/+18Correlation.
Causation.
Say it with me. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. Causation. Correlation. - smurfz, on 10/23/2009, -2/+10I think I'd die faster if I ever married a dumb girl.
- EddiePotato, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7Badda bing!
- Berkana, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7"Their *wife*"? Somebody needs to be educated about plurals.
- jojowasa, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6I'd want to live longer. Does that mean I have to marry an dumb man? Interesting....
- thecheatah, on 10/23/2009, -1/+7we can count the women on digg by the up votes.
- tidu, on 10/23/2009, -2/+8Well, i guess the smarter they are, the healthier the food they cook is...
- gigi52, on 10/23/2009, -3/+9That's because women take care of family.
- NeddieSeagoon, on 10/23/2009, -2/+8They're overanalyzing. In order to marry an intelligent educated woman, you yourself also have to be intelligent and most likely wealthier than average. Hence the longer life etc. It's not that complicated.
- Telionis, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6No doubt. Yet most conservatives I have shown the video to have tried to find excuses for him. "Oh he wasn't serious, oh he didn't mean pure as in the rest are tainted, he meant race not species, etc." Worse of all, "oh he was joking".
Yeah... IMHO, the look of his coworker when he says it, tells all. Look at the look of horror - she must have been thinking, "OMG we're all about to get fired". - mark076h, on 10/23/2009, -2/+7Who cares, The Singularity Is Near, just live long enough and live forever!
- 1forallallfor1, on 10/24/2009, -0/+5I bet these researchers are pretty well-educated. Maybe some of them are lonely and want a date?
- firewall1, on 10/23/2009, -3/+7I guess this means Sarah Palin's hubby should have been dead years ago.
- aforsberg, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4That means that... If you ACT dumb... and you KILL him... Hear me out...
You can get his insurance! - 10lbhammer, on 10/23/2009, -4/+8what I want to know is this: do men live longer if they don't have to deal with the stress of having a wife?
- EddiePotato, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4That guy in the vid is horrifying.
- Ascus, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5Do they live longer, or does it just feel that way?
- Barackalypse, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4And if you want a happy life, don't get married at all. Or, better yet, get a dog and get longer life and a happy life.
- anakast, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3On the other hand, career-orientated/highly educated women are less likely to get married and more likely to divorced if they get married.
- hackiavelli, on 10/24/2009, -0/+3I believe married men live longer on average. Having a wife nag you to go to the doctor probably helps.
- satsukimiller, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3Well, maybe so, but where's the study that tells you if a woman's longevity is prolonged because of all this caregiving? I'm betting that it is not.
- Telionis, on 10/23/2009, -6/+8This study doesn't apply to us.
See, we Americans keep marrying other species and ethics... the problem is that the Swedes have pure genes... Swedes marry other Swedes... they have a pure society, but in America we marry everybody, Italians, Irish... so the study does not apply to us. /SARCASM
Oh Fox...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfOMGefMXTE - bluesman3535, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Depends if your wife likes the life insurance money more than liking you. If she's educated, you could end up 6 feet under with no questions asked. If she's uneducated but still hates you, then you can feign fatal alcoholism and get her to buy you cases of your favorite beers, ignore her and fake it.
- MWeather, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2No, thousands of years after that.
- ascheeseman19, on 10/23/2009, -2/+4The ol' Correlation does not imply causation rings true again! Yay for having a basic understanding of Statistics.
- openthink, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2in guy's life expectancy, woman's schooling matters more than guy's. guess that means we (guys) can drop out early as long as we manage to attract a PHD. middle school grad + PHD...sounds easy
- kaosethema, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2beat me to it
dugg, sir - hakkola, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2"Men living with a woman without any high school education were 1.25 times more likely to die than men living with a college graduate."
What? There's a chance you won't die? - Qoogirl, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1So essentially, the same things many of us women have been trying to get from men from since...forever? haha
- ultraseamus, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Heh, I realized what he was getting at after I posted. Think my brain is just fried today.
- Sixagon, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1You live longer ... but life is much, much harder.
- nullcodes, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Actually correlation DOES imply causation .. because a lot of the time .. it's the truth .. investigating correlations is fundamental to science.
- TBBucs, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2But women need to be dumb. Reduces the risk of uprising.
- nullcodes, on 10/24/2009, -1/+2A slow torture? No thanks.
- needlesurfer, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1You can also observe that trough ages humans have grown taller, the universe also expanded... could having taller children prevent the big crunch?
- Aero347, on 10/23/2009, -1/+1If she's going to be handling your junk for a lifetime you'll naturally live longer if she has a proper education.
- Quaestor44, on 10/24/2009, -1/+1He's probably not outright denying it. Just being a good skeptic.
- camilos007, on 10/24/2009, -1/+1Most women like to spend. If the women is educated, then she earns a higher salary therefore she pays for her own expenses. If the woman is not educated then YOU pay for her expenses. Which leads to never ending headaches and arguments and probably ulcers and tumors for the husband. So yes, educated wives lead to longer living husbands.
- chriswastaken, on 10/27/2009, -2/+2I thought the title read: "Do Men Live Longer if Their Wife is Executed?"
And I thought "Yea probably" - wakethefallen, on 10/23/2009, -2/+2Then we can all die!
(Due to the consequential overpopulation and lack of resources) - DaneGleesac, on 10/24/2009, -1/+1well yeah who wouldn't want to stick around with a wife who is well educated in the culinary arts and hospitality?
- LomasLou, on 10/23/2009, -3/+2No, it just seems longer.
- cheapo17, on 10/23/2009, -2/+1i'm not sure if i would want to live much longer
